5 Keto Breakfast Ideas that AREN'T Bacon & Eggs - Thomas DeLauer
1) Bulletproof Coffee + Pea Protein + Collagen
Fat Coffee
Grass-Fed Butter/Ghee:
Ghee contains butyric acid, a short-chain fatty acid - butyric acid is an essential nutrient for the digestive system because it helps maintain healthy cells throughout the GI tract, and provides energy to the cells in your large intestine
Ghee is also a rich source of the essential fat soluble vitamins: A, D, E, and K
Sustained Energy:
Blending the fat into the coffee is believed to break the fats into micelles, which bind to caffeine molecules; from there, they’re all broken down together at the pace of the slowest part of the molecule - in this case, the fats
Pea Protein
Pea protein is derived from ground yellow split peas and often from a mechanical rather than the chemical separation of soy and whey proteins - this allows the pea protein to also retain soluble fiber, which is known to provide many benefits to both cardiovascular and gastrointestinal health
Polyphenolics, in coloured seed coat types in particular, which may have antioxidant and anticarcinogenic activity, saponins which may exhibit hypocholesterolemic and anticarcinogenic activity, and galactose oligosaccharides (byproduct of pea protein production) which may exert beneficial prebiotic effects in the large intestine*
Collagen
Collagen stimulates human cartilage-producing cells (chondrocytes), which has the potential to result in more cartilage tissue
Glycine is the primary amino acid in collagen, making up about 33% - glycine is that it is a precursor to glutathione - Glutathione is responsible for effective and reliable detoxification through the liver detox pathways
2) 1-2 Whole Eggs + 2-3 Additional Yolks
Selenium
Selenium is also essential to the proper functioning of glutathione peroxidase - glutathione is 100% dependent on having a selenium atom at its core for proper function
In fact, selenium is what gives the enzyme its potency in preventing and cleaning up after destructive oxygen free radicals - as such, decreased selenium in the blood leads to decreased glutathione peroxidase activity
Choline
Choline is a precursor to the neurotransmitter acetylcholine - specifically, choline is transported into the cell by a transporter protein in the membrane of the presynaptic neuron where it combines with acetyl CoA to synthesize the neurotransmitter acetylcholine
Acetylcholine prompts synaptogenesis, the healthy growth of synapses throughout the brain, which enhances memory encoding, and facilitates the action of all other neurotransmitters as they communicate messages
Additional:
Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Vitamin D, vitamin K, vitamin B6 & B12
3) Ground Chicken or Breakfast Sausage with Coconut Oil and Sauteed Spinach + Cream Cheese or Vegan Cream Cheese (make a creamed spinach)
Coconut Oil
Lauric acid to monolaurin
Spinach
Spinach has a very high content of potassium and magnesium
Also contains COQ10, which plays an important role in strengthening muscles, especially heart muscles which continuously pump blood to all parts of the body - contributes to the reduction of hypertension and relaxes blood vessels, while maintaining proper blood flow
4) Riced Cauliflower with Bacon Bits + Diced Chicken
Riced Cauliflower (1 cup contains ~5g of carbs)
Cauliflower contains several anticancer phytochemicals like sulforaphane and plant sterols such as indole-3-carbinol, which appears to function as an anti-estrogen agent
Di-indolyl-methane (DIM), a lipid-soluble compound present abundantly in Brassica group of vegetables, including cauliflower, has found to be effective as an immune modulator, antibacterial and antiviral agent
Also contains manganese, which is required for gluconeogenesis
Bacon
Phosphorus is a basic building block of your DNA, as well as ATP, the energy molecule that makes muscle movement possible
Specifically, all energy production and storage are dependent on phosphorylated compounds, such as adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and creatine phosphate
Nucleic acids (DNA and RNA), which are responsible for the storage and transmission of genetic information, are long chains of phosphate-containing molecules
Additionally, the phosphorus-containing molecule 2,3-diphosphoglycerate (2,3-DPG) binds to hemoglobin in red blood cells and regulates oxygen delivery to the tissues of the body
Fat Content
The fats in bacon are about 50% monounsaturated, with a large part being oleic acid, and about 40% being saturated fat, accompanied by a decent amount of cholesterol and the remaining fat being 10% polyunsaturated

I’m so excited that you popped up in my suggested vids... newbie to Keto and I’m loving the results. I went vegetarian for a solid year and ate very clean. My result was losing only 15 lbs and I was hungry and tired all the time. Now doing Keto I’m down 25lbs from 269 and feel better, stronger, and more energetic than I have in years. Thank you for the teaching the science behind the proper Keto life style. 🥰

djleslie777 right?! i seriously just watched a video of his over the weekend and he stated that breakfast should be a high fat one to get us thru a smaller low fat lunch and then a higher fat dinner, no snack in between. he contradicts himself and is a bit confusing. after reading your comment, i don’t even wanna watch this video. maybe he should be more specific in the titles if this if beginner, advanced, new theory or whatever. but this back and forth is wasting my time.

Hint: For the classic breakfast sausage flavor, toast fennel seeds. You can do a tablespoon or two right in a dry pan on medium high. It only takes a short time maybe 2 minutes-ish give or take, so keep stirring and don’t walk away. You’ll smell sausages when it’s ready. Pour it straight into a bowl or something so it doesn’t keep cooking in the pan. It’ll dry out a little as it cools and that also makes it easier to grind if you want, but these are the same little seeds that you see whole in sausage and they will soften so it’s basically optional. Pass it on!

I'm good with non-breakfast foods for breakfast. The creamed spinach-sausage dish and the cauli-chicken hash sounds awesome! I'm insulin resistant but using IF and keto, my fasting glucose dropped from 111 to 96. I'm hoping now weight loss will follow! I'm a 65 year old woman with some physical handicaps so walking is difficult but I'm using my cane to force myself upright and moving. I can only handle 5 minutes at a time but every little bit helps. I've just added some resistance bands for strengthening. Yay!

If you miss cereal/granola, this is a good fix: A few tablespoons of hempseed hearts (approx 1gram carbs) a few walnuts and pecans minced to your preference, unsweetened coconut shreds, a little nutmeg and cinnamon, unsweetened milk of choice. I use a little erythitol. Very yummy cold or warm.

Thank you so much for this content. I'm trying to get back into Keto again for the health effects, but I don't have support. I'm the only one in my daily life that wants to focus on clean eating, so it's insanely difficult. The options you showed today sound incredibly delicious, and don't seem like I'll be bored. I have a high stress job, and I'm an emotional eater. I crave sugar and carbs after a stressful day, because it boosts my mood. I am hopeful that these simple examples you gave will help satiate me throughout the day so I won't fail at the end of my work day, and I can hopefully combat by lack of willpower to say no to the yummy foods available to me when I get home at the end of the day!

@ Shannon Leigh - Hi, get you 100% on your comments.. I recently had a stroke, 3 months back, had to change my diet obv, but giving up sugar was probably the best thing i ve ver done, hard at 1st, cravings were there, but not having anything with sugar at home certainly helped, n i was surprised at how many things had sugar i hadnt taken into consideration, ketchup, mayo etc... After the initial crash, 7-10 day maybe, felt better than ever, i am rarely hungry, as your prob aware eating sugar products will never satisfy you for long, taking tips from such vids as these, good info, so you are surely on the right track. I m totally recovered from stroke symptoms, just to finish my story! And wish you well with your dietry options, theres so many tasty choices i am sure your coming across, even if, as i am , only cooking for myself... Also, check out NAC,( GOOGLE ) if your not aware of this product, could be beneficial for you..

In South Africa a popular breakfast dish is Cape Malay, curried mince (beef or mutton). It is mild savoury dish easily spiced up if you prefer a little heat. Many traditional hotels will usually offer it as a breakfast choice along with boerewors - a herbed and spiced (usually thick) sausage mix of beef and pork. 100% Keto.

As a chef I've always been fascinated by weird cultural notion of what types of food are "breakfast", etc. An egg and a chicken are the same thing at different growth stages but for most people the idea of a chicken omelet strikes them as bizarre! Why is 'breakfast sausage' more appropriate for breakfast than chorizo? Or a bratwurst for that matter. What is it about a pancake that makes it "breakfast" food instead of dinner? Personally I eat most any kind of food whenever I want. Obviously I won't generally have a roast for breakfast because it takes many hours to cook. So I get that breakfast food is usually something that's quicker to make. My favorite "breakfast" food? A couple of boiled eggs with Himalayan salt, fresh ground pepper and a 1/2 tsp of Sriracha!

Terrific videos. I watched the Costco Haul before this. I doing some long term preps right now and came across the Costco video. It gave me some great healthy, alternative ideas and loved how you explained exactly what a bad additive does to your body. OMG...so sick of eggs every day. THANK you for the alternatives. I'll try the hash and the cauliflower bowl. As well as having my eggs. Love my eggs! However, I had some inflammation issues with a pea protein. Great ideas, well put together. I can hear you well and you speak rapidly but not too much. I also LOVE how your assistant makes sure to pan the prices even as you're on to the next thing. Also, President's butter (from France-Pasture raised live stock.) is also A-2....BUT Kerry Gold is way cheaper. I'll switch when my 7 pkgs of President's is gone. Thanks!! Good stuff. I do have a question: do you have some suggestions for more keto foods that are shelf stable and have a long shelf life. 1-2 year shelf life. Thank you!
