I guess it is the trickiest part of Cambridge C1 and C2 , you really have to know a lot of fixed expression and know their meaning. Good explanation Ben as always, thank you so much

Hello Ben! I did the C1 exam last July and I got 192 scores (Speaking paper), 183 (writing paper) and 160 (Use of English), however I found much difficult to manage my time in the Listening and Reading Paper, so I had to make a guess in many questions. I didn't pass in the exam but I am happy with my scores in Speaking and Writing papers. I used many expressions and tips you taught us. Thanks for everything!

On the CPE sometimes you do need contractions like “the minister’s speech”. I learned that because I was trying my best not to use contractions on my practices, but in the end it turned out that I needed them 😅

Ben, pleasure to have you popping in. How is your cockney old man? Did you know that we used to hear bow bells in quiet Sundays morning in casablanca, when the wind is blowing from north? Does that makes me a nautty cockney geezer?

Thank you, Ben for this useful video. I am taking the computer-based exam and I was wondering whether I need to write part 2, 3 and 4 answers using capital letters or not.
@tothepointenglishwithben. Жыл бұрын
No, you don't need to write in capital letters in the computer-based exam. I recommend you use the sample tests on the Cambridge Assessment English website to practise with the platform before taking the exam.

Hi Ben, thanks for your brilliant videos. Would you consider synonyms: Maggie didn’t mind keeping an EYE/putting an EYE on her children? And again: Joanna apologised to her friend for HAVING turned/showed up so late at the party. It’ll be very helpful to know whether the examiners will consider them correct or wrong. Thank you 😘
@tothepointenglishwithben.7 ай бұрын
The first example would be incorrect because "put an eye on someone" isn't a common phrase in English and isn't a synonym of "Keep an eye on." The second example would be correct if you wrote "shown up"

Yes, that would be grammatically correct. (Of course, in the exam, you can't change the key word)
