You caught me off guard with the savory oatmeal bowl. I used to make the same thing in the microwave, but I'd add the egg into the hot oatmeal, then stir it in to thicken the whole bowl. Add some cheese, sausage, salt and pepper, and it was chow time. My favorite way to make oatmeal.
@honeysuckle8 жыл бұрын
so awesome! That sounds like a great way to incorporate the egg, I'll have to give that a try :) xoxo

Thank you for dairy-free chia bowl idea. I tried it last night. I used your basic recipe but didn't have coconut chips so instead I used cocoa powder. I did see your vegan chia pudding video. I love the ideas, thank you again. I am lactose intolerant so you basically saved me from being deprived. My mom used to make savory oatmeal too! She used spam and eggs or ham and eggs and I believe she put oyster sauce too but I never learned how she made it before she past away. I wish I learned it from her because it was delicious.

Personally, I have found that the more I cook nutritionally dense foods, the less I have to eat. Everything she is doing here is very nutritionally dense (and mouth watering). I notice she does not shy away from whole fats, either, which is important for feeling full. It took me a while to think differently about my cooking, and now that I incorporate a lot more healthy fat and protein, these types of portions are more than enough.
@nadi57518 жыл бұрын

If you add a little milk to your eggs before whisking, it makes them fluffier when you scramble them in the pan. I also add my salt & pepper at that point as well…makes the best eggs, I swear!

My Dad has new dietary restrictions involving severe kidney problems but he was gone this morning so I made the savory oatmeal for myself (minus an egg on the top, but I did have a hard boiled egg on the side...) and it was DELICIOUS. So good. He can't have fatty meats, salty foods or much dairy products but I'll take advantage of the times he's gone to cook yummy foods like this! The list of food he can't have now just seems to be getting longer & longer, sadly, since I like to cook, but what he doesn't know won't hurt him. Thank you for the wonderful recipe.

My baby is 5 months old now. I had eggs throughout my pregnancy with NO problems at all. Sometimes runny, but mostly cooked med (soft, only slightly runny). I did eat only very high quality, farm fresh eggs (some friends of mine have 24 chickens! so I get eggs from them). I would not have done this with cheap, factory farm raised eggs. Good luck on an easy, exciting pregnancy!
