I like to have a bowl of hot Oat Meal with extras 5 out of 7 days a week. In a big bowl I mix - 2 cups of each,- Quick oats, Steel Cut Oats, 12-grain cereal, bran, ground flax, hearts of hemp, millet, & dried cranberries. I fill a 6-liter bucket, put that in the frig, bag the rest & put in the freezer. I have 1/2 cup on those 5 out of 7 !! My cholesterol levels are right on. Even better than expected for being 63 years young !! My doctor is happy !! Having oatmeal in a persons diet is a step in the right direction !! Great Video !! Keep Up The Great Job !!

You have to cut your carbohydrate intake No. 1. Write down every bite of food & drink you ingest for a week. You HAVE to be honest with yourself here. Then look at how much Sugar or Sweetener went in to you and how many high carbohydrates you got through. That will show you where you need to concentrate your efforts. My best advice for #2 is to go cold turkey on the Sugar. You don't need it and both your waistline & teeth will Thank you! (That includes Sweetener! ) Then work hard at curbing your carb intake. If it means a real change in the way you eat then you need to look up glaucoma, diabetic blindness, kidney failure & amputation. You need to see your food as Medicine. There's no reason for you not to eat well. It's dead trendy right now to Spiralise Vegetables into Pasta so there's one carb eliminated! Good Luck.

While you've gotten a lot of good suggestions on gluten free oatmeal, I want to add this: basically, oats are naturally gluten free _but_ they are often cross-contaminated with growing next to wheat and similar things. So that's why you should look for the gluten free ones: nothing's been removed (it's all natural), but it's not cross-contaminated while growing.
