Hi everybody! I'm 5 months locd! This time has gone by super fast and I'm excited for how my locs will look in the future. This a 5 month loc update and self retwist where I discuss why I chose to start my locs myself, how I started them, my current favorite products for my hair and some pictures from the beginning of my journey. I'm still learning and would love any retwisting tips and techniques.

The frizz is apart of the Loc process. It will Eventually go away but still be at the roots due to the new growth.

I use my fingers too when I re-twist my locs I don’t use a comb at all I feel like my parts don’t have to be perfect

Try loc-smithing to combat the frizz. That's what I've beeb doing, my locs are still new so after a week or two the frizz deff comes backs but it looks fresh for the 1st week! 😋

I dont use any gels for my partner hair. I use. Sheas butter and coconut oil mix and when I use it to prevent build up I make sure I use a little bit and then smooth it through the loose hair really good to make sure his hair soaks it up and then twist. Dries in two hours and holds

Hmmmm Ive seen other people using Shea butter also! I think it may be a bit heavy for my hair though

I use conditioner in my locs and I have zero buildup. Im almost 2 yrs loc'd. Went about 8 months before I started conditioning my locs. I didn't plan to ever use it but it got to a point where my locs needed that moisture. I couldn't take the dryness anymore. It worked.

do you dilute it or just rinse well?

@@KennedyEco My hair does NOT do well with skipping conditioning. 😄😜 I don't dilute my conditioner... but I do thoroughly rinse my locs using the waterfall method in my kitchen sink (I have a spray nozzle attachment). I rinse until I can see that the water is running clear.

Thanks so much! I had colored my hair twice before I got locs and this color is a faded result. I think that just like with colored loose natural hair you have to moisturize it more and watch out for breakage
