I'm glad you like the songbook. Thanks very much for the Amazon review btw. I've only made one lead guitar video so far (the lead guitar parts in Chuck Berry's 'Roll Over Beethoven'). It's aimed at fairly advanced players I suppose, but you may find it useful if you'd like to play some of those bluesy style licks. Here's a link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2fbe32VhKh7d9E The string bends are much easy on electric guitar than acoustic guitar.

Hello, great tutorial, thank you. The thing that bring additional attractiveness to your performance is the way of singing rock&roll songs. You sing it with lot of nice vocal "riffs", just like you use the riffs in guitar playing. A tutorial about your way of rock&roll singing would be interesting to see, as well :). V

Hi Jez, I'm loving these tutorials I bought your book I think its great to see chords and lyrics for each song but would've been even better if it showed the strumming pattern for each song. I'm trying to play Memphis Tennesse and Twenty flight rock. Thanks G
@RocknRollSongbook2 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much Gordon! I'm glad you like my tutorials. And thanks for the book purchase! I deliberately didn't specify any particular strumming for any of the songs, as there's really no single way of playing them. Rock 'n' roll is a very flexible musical genre. For example, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran and Jerry Lee Lewis all covered Little Richard and Chuck Berry songs, but they all played them differently to the original recordings, and differently from each other. Many guitarists will use two or more different strumming within a song as they switch between different parts of the song (e.g., changing from a verse to a chorus, to an instrumental break, etc.). Also, I didn't want to assume that all of the guitarists using the songbook would wish to strum chords -- some might wish to play rock 'n' roll riffs, such as those I teach in my tutorials in place of the open chords. However, when I play 'Memphis Tennessee' with open chords, I mostly use strumming pattern #4 (on page 3 of the songbook). When I play 'Twenty Flight Rock', I usually play it using riffs, but if I use open chords, I mostly use strumming pattern #3. I hope that helps a little - Jez 😊

Here are some examples: - Chuck Berry's 'Rock and Roll Music': kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmPceZR6bLigZqs - Little Richard's 'Tutti Frutti': kzbin.info/www/bejne/f3rYgqaMgJ2djbc - Buddy Holly's 'That'll Be The Day': kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5SQmXiimqiiibc Let me know how you get on - Jez
