It was a protection for them, as the fact that they could shapeshift was their biggest, most treasure secret. A good proof: when Snape noticed the Map on Lupin's desk, he saw the name of Sirius, because Sirius wasn't a dog anymore. BUT, he didn't see Peter's name at this point. Otherwise, i'm fairly certain he would've react quite differently.

Well, think about it like this: Doc knows that eventually, Marty will travel back in time. He provides inspiration for the experiment, by dragging back up abandoned concepts. By driving it straight at them, the only stable time Loop, is one in which Marty survives, in order to travel back in time and thus, provide the inspiration for the machine. By linking their continued survival to the success of the experiment, Doc actually ensures that the only stable Time Loop, is one in which the Experiment is successful on his first try, ensuring that the experiment is successful. If it fails, then a Paradox ensures, since no one is able to go back in time and provide Doc with the impetus to create the machine in the first place. Its actually pretty genius.

Besides the changes to his family that occur, you can see that even that mall was changed as it became Lone Pine Mall in the second timeline. The Doc Brown at the beginning of the movie clearly is not the one from the end, so he had not met Marty 30 years ago. Marty didn't give Doc Brown the impetus for the Flux Capacitor, he got it banging his head on his sink. It was Marty's knowledge of that previously happening in the 50's that got the Doc to trust him.
@vyxxer9 жыл бұрын

+TJForceIX In addition to that, Doc Brown was obviously surprised that it worked at all. Not just happy, but surprised. I believe that he believed that he was going to fail. Sure, he had that smug "you're gonna see some serious shit" line (prefaced with a very big "IF"), but all of that confidence seems to dissappear when the DeLorean does. I don't see this as "I'm gonna succeed or die trying," I see it more as "I'm a huge failure, if I don't kill myself the Lybian terrorists I swindled surely will, I'm going to make it huge, and I'm dragging this kid with me..." Brilliant really, trying to commit suicide with your time machine. Whether you live or die, you finally did something right.

Ron is actually quite talented with magic! Peter Petigrew was Scabbers. In The Sorcerer's Stone(the movie, I think), they tried to turn their animals into water goblets. Ron managed to turn Scabbers into a furry goblet with a tail. Animangui are skilled in Trasfiguration. So Ron was trying to turn a man, who was turned into a rat, into a goblet. No wonder it didn't work! Having done as much as he did, he's done amazingly well!

Abu didn't wear pants and a tiny vest wouldn't be to hard to make out of scrap fabric Aladdin found or stole. Just because he's poor doesn't mean he can't sew. We don't know that Cinderella dressed up those mice. Maybe they dressed themselves. We do know they can sew a fabulous dress. She let the birds SHOWER her with water. Not go near her lady bits. Bells town thought she was strange because she was a smart woman who wasn't looking to get married which was all women were good for at the time the movie was set. Couldn't agree more on Avatar but at least he didn't lie to them about what he was. Don't forget Scabbers was Ron's older brothers pet before he was Ron's. So Peter lived through 2 boy's going through puberty as a rat.

But it could be like that thing where you KNOW something will happen, but because of the scale of it, you are surprised anyway. In the film, he dies...but when the event happens again he lives because he does remember Marty going to the past to warn him. But he should have remembered and not died in the first place as 30 years ago, he was met with him. The story I think is a bit of a mess, but the general theme and idea is that they change the past and history, realise...then go back and put it to how it was..so some things seem like they should be remembered. But it's been a while since I've seen it, so I don't recall exactly the events and their order.

It was addressed, or questioned, at the start of The Prisoner of Azkaban when Ron takes Scabbers to the magical pet shop in Diagon Alley. There are rats for sale there that are implied to have extended lives as they are somehow magical or magically bread, so it's hardly far-fetched that the Weasleys wouldn't have questioned Scabbers' longevity.
@Arsonolace7 жыл бұрын
It was, at least in the movie as far as I remember, but I never understood that to be quite honest. We have Dumbledore who's suppose to be over a hundred and ten years old according to J.K. Rowling, and that's not with any help from life restoring items like the Sorcerer's stone, so it can be assumed that wizards and witches just have longer lifespans. It made sense to me that people who live longer would want their pets to live longer, and would either breed them to be such or use magic to help as best they could. Or that being around magic and magical people would rub off on the animal and enhance their longevity.

The thing about Disney animal relationships is that the animals are clearly sentient. So there's that.
@mikejohnstonbob9359 жыл бұрын
They eat fish in Little Mermaid, and shit ton of beef/pork/presumably chicken and other fowls in Ratatouille, Princess and the Frog, and any other movie including witches, sorcerers, etc. While a huge majority of disney dishes are vegetarian/pastries, there quite a large number of obvious carnivores. Sound familiar? yeah, that's life. Animal sentience topic is an on going argument. Similar to disney animals, real animals can appear sentient in every way, but verification is still an ongoing process. tl;dr: disney animals are no different from real ones.

Also, I really love OPCD and Dan O'Brien, but I'm a bit fed up of the 'everything is paedophelia' thing that +Cracked has going. Paedophelia is a really serious thing, but suggesting that relationships with older people -- like Karate Kid or Back to the Future -- somehow has to have inherent paedophelia connotations is just not cool. I know, I know -- it's all for the joke. But it's a joke that's got quite old with Cracked recently.
@KeijiMaeda869 жыл бұрын
+Maddy James Very funny you should mention that. As I am pretty sure that in a recent Cracked podcast they called out that very social issue that any time an adult man is seen with a child everyone assumes its something dastardly like pedophilia or a kidnapping, when it could be something as innocent as a father and his son. But here it is in yet another of their videos in which they play in to that societal stereotype.
@Maazzzo9 жыл бұрын
+KeijiMaeda86 Yeah, it's got quite old, they've been pretty bad about it recently, suggesting that basically any time a child has a friend who is older, there has to be some sexual abuse. When I was a kid, my only friend was a retiree older man -- we'd play chess, we'd chat, he was there when no other adult was. I get that they're joking and it's all for the comedy, but they've really just gone a bit too much with it lately. Older people are often really lonely and lots of kids often don't have any adults around as support. It's a really good thing when they can strike up a friendship and help each other out -- and the constant suggestions of paedophelia is really just... unnecessary.
@mastermarkus53079 жыл бұрын
+Maddy James I'm pretty sure the Back to the Future one was about hanging out with people who put you in danger, not that Doc Brown and Marty had any sort of sexual relationship. Also, I kind of get what he's saying with the Karate Kid one, what with Daniel saying that Miyagi is the most important thing in his life, over college. Yes, I get that it could just be because he was an important father figure, but either way, that's unhealthy obsession. ALSO also, that's not paedophilia. Paedophilia is the attraction to pre-pubescent children (with the cut-off point being around 11-13). In both cases it would be ephebophilia - the attraction to people in their late adolescence, which is considerably less harmful than paedophilia (at least in my opinion) and can sometimes be legal.

@1sttobylopez8 жыл бұрын
amazing this video included five movies and somehow turned into how much do I know about Harry Potter pissing contest. rather than mention anything about the pig I'd rather insert an opinion about something other than Harry pothead. in the beginning of Back to the Future Doc Brown was conducting a time experiment that Marty came across at Doc Brown's house unknowingly. while on the phone with dr. brown every clock in the place set off at the same time but they were exactly 25 minutes behind also there was a framed newspaper clipping reading that the Brown mansion had been destroyed in an explosion. without knowing the complete details we are poised to believe that Doc Brown was already experimenting with time so there's monumentally less evidence that he had never tested his theory until the Twin Peaks mall parking lot. Doc Brown was very sure about the pending results of Einstein's fate and merely placed him and Marty in the path for dramatic effect because he would have to have been not just a scientist but a Showman, poetic at heart. how else would he have had Marty's attention for so long? Marty idolized him saw him as a mentor and Doc assumes some responsibility for that. it had been addressed by the principal of the school about Marty hanging out with Doc Brown indicating that they have been doing so for a while. why else would Doc Brown had gone out of his way to create that amp for him that we see in the beginning? that was obviously a use of Doc Brown's scientific genius entirely for Marty's sake. so ultimately the story was about friendship love and responsibilities in summary a best friendship. so Doc Brown who has always been concerned not only for Marty but for Marty's future wouldn't never have put his best friend at risk in what is essentially a controlled experiment and in fact the only time Doc Brown really had any control at all.

Yeah, he would have remembered Marty from 30's years ago too....so he knew it would work. I guess his surprise at the fact that it worked is like when people even when they know something will happen...are still surprised anyway because of the scale of it all.

He doesn't need to go to college he knows karate. Even if he does decide to go to college he can just walk into the admission office and just sign himself up; who will stop him. The world's your oyster if you know karate.

Doc in _Back to The Future_ says that he's never created any invention that has ever worked, but yet he created a way to control an actual car with a remote for a remote control car. Pretty creative invention for the eighties.

Doc knows it works because he met Marty in the past, and the letter said so
@RidleyKraid1878 жыл бұрын
Theoretically, yes. but here's the thing: In the original timeline, Marty had to go to Twin Pines Mall for the experiment with Doc. After he comes back from 1955, he's at the same mall, now called Lone Pines Mall due to Marty crashing into one of the namesake pines back in 55. This alteration only took place because Marty was there. Since the Mall goes by Twin Pines in the original timeline, this means Marty was never there to crash into the tree. Marty was never there to meet Doc in the original 1955. And going forward, original 1985 Doc never got confirmation of Time Travel from Marty. This wasn't a closed time loop where Marty was always supposed to go to 1955- it was by pure luck and good engineering Doc and Marty didn't die from getting hit by the Delorean, and even then, in the original 1985 timeline, Doc was shot to death and Marty jumped to a completely different timeline and never returned, so they're both gone forever anyways....
@CrapE_DM8 жыл бұрын
Either way, the new timeline Doc has reason to believe that the thing works, seeing that there is confirmation that the flux capacitor is a working idea.
@Okusar7 жыл бұрын
+RidleyKraid187 There is evidence in the original timeline that Doc already knows it will work. When Marty starts recording the documentary tape Doc introduces himself and states the current date and time. It then cuts to a brief shot of Marty confusedly looking at his watch, implying that the time stated by Doc did not match with what Marty expected, suggesting that Doc may have already been conducting some level of successful tests already, leading to his concept of time being noticeably out of sync with Marty's. Maybe it was just did a small scale test sending his watch ahead an hour, or he may have even already tested it himself and the test with Marty would just be his first time seeing it from the perspective of an observer. Or maybe that brief shot was just included to give the scene a bit more of a mysterious atmosphere, but it was definitely there for a reason.

Doc Brown knew the experiment would work because he had Marty's letter that told him to wear a bullet proof vest. Then again, time is not linear in the movies because the mall is named "Twin Pines Mall" in the first appearance and "Lone Pine Mall" when Marty returns. Plus, the Tannen's are nicer to Marty and his father at the end of the movie. Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey.
@SR2XO9 жыл бұрын
+1337rofflecopters also the Doc at the beginning didn't have a bullet proof vest. He seems surprised that it worked to begin with. Even if we remove this, we have an old man who befriends a young teen and has contact with terrorists who have weapons grade plutonium.

I'd love to see you doing one with the Junglebook. I mean, Baghera promises to take Mowgli to the village, and then the same night leaves him alone just because he didn't want to leave the people who raised him. Then he lets Baloo, who enjoys trashing old human temples, teach the boy to hit people and swallow spiky fruits. And that's just the beginning.

As far as Karate Kid 3 goes, college tuition wasn't insanely expensive in the 80's (at least the first half). We're talking around $10,000 for a four year degree from a private college and $3,000 if it's a public/state college. Back in those days, most people could work a part-time job and pay for college. It's not that Daniel-san's gesture was an egregious use of finances, it's that he knew he could make his money back in half-a-year to a year, which for a young guy isn't the end of the world. Also, being an investor in Mr. Miyagi's business means that if successful, Daniel would have potentially made his money back and then some...Because you know, Mr Miyagi and Daniel are very close friends who have helped and learned from each other over a great deal of time. Is it really that shocking to imagine that Daniel believes that Mr. Miyagi's business could be successful enough that he might be able to work for him and make his money back? That he has faith in his dearest friend and mentor? Seriously Cracked, you guys are really homophobic sometimes ;)

Hey Dan! Even in OG guess who, there were a few characters who were unique in their appearance. One man with a monocle, one man with a green mohawk, one black person(As you've mentioned in the past). If there's only one pizza and/or frog, there's not really a difference because nobody asks you questions that only apply to one person until super late in the game anyway.
