Im very surprised. I had no idea a heat pad could be regulated by a thermostat! Sounds like magic to me. Very interesting. Love learning about things like this even though i dont have reptiles. But I do want to get in to the hobby some time so this was very useful and informative. Please do the one on what to avoid.

Good thermostat is an inkbyrd available from amazon. They’re like 30$ and have all the same warranty’s as a reptile thermostat. They’re used for botanical and home brew systems and work amazing. I actually have better history with these than VE but not shade to them they still make great stuff!

Hi Tyler, I have bought from Josh's frogs the bioactive set up for my frogs and my crested geckos, and got a gnat infestation and all they said was to trow away the entire substrate that there was no other way of getting rid of them,. Can you please advice on what works, I have so many reptiles and can not afford to keep buying expensive substrate. Thanks.

I wish people knew how important thermostats are for heatmats and heat lamps. I have both and they’re both hooked up to thermostats. I didn’t know better when I first got my snake and my mat got up to 118-124! If I didn’t have a temp gun and see this I would’ve never known my snake would’ve burned or could’ve had a heat stroke and died. PLEASE GET A THERMOSTAT FOR YOUR REPTILES BEFORE YOU ACTUALLY GET THEM.

Do Reptile’s that need heat lamps, should they have a thermostat?
@jynnsomething46175 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily. It doesn't hurt, but if you're checking the temperature regularly (when you wake up and when you go to bed), it's probably fine. I like to have one so I don't have to check frequently.
@rowan78175 жыл бұрын
jynnsomething I was checking for leopard geckos, but I think I’m going to go for a heat mat so now I know I need a thermostat! Thank you for the info though, I’ll probably need it some time lol if I end up getting a different Reptile 😂

If you use a heat pad do you still need to use a heat lamp?
@kalabell125 жыл бұрын
Only if the ambient temperature of the enclosure is too low with just the heat mat/pad. 🙂 Ceramic heat emitters are also a great option to bump up the temp.

Does anyone have a good quality thermostat that I should get? I would like to save money but I obviously don't want to get something that isn't going to work.
@kalabell125 жыл бұрын
The JumpStart brand works really well for me. Only downside is the suction cup doesn’t stick very well, so I have to weigh it down with something so it doesn’t move from the heat mat. They’re $38 on Amazon. 🙂
I JUST filmed a video the other day on this very topic 😂 I’m not a copycat mkay??

I was about to type that you need to talk about how shitty zoomed heat mats are and that you NEED a thermostat. (and then you started talking about it already) People think because zoomed makes it, it's safe. It's not. It fails on too, which is even worse. I have seen far too many snakes burned the last few weeks on the reptile forums. It's totally preventable, even if you get a cheap one that people use for plants (beat me to it).
