Thank You for this Rob. I been playing all my life (and yes, I'm old) and have gotten away from these. Green Bay Packer coach, Lombardi said, "If we're good at the basics, we'll be the best". Pt II, please.

Great lesson Rob, as they all are. Depending on what you've got in your outline for Vid 2 (And maybe you could do a Vid 3 if it's not this) it would be great if you took these licks and built a complete short solo using each that maybe even incorporated two or even more of the licks. I can see this being a whole series using these sequences as the foundation blocks and building out from them to improvise. Maybe a short solo for each, then a couple using multiple sequences and then a MONSTER solo to wrap it up. You could even maybe teach a couple more patterns/ sequences that can bridge these together. I struggle with improvising due to the gap between beginner patterns/ sequences and making music with them and I can see lessons based on what you have here being really helpful. You could do some backing tracks for us and create a whole "Improvising" series with it incorporating lessons on techniques like harmonic squeals and such. Maybe even make each backing track a slower speed to practice over and a normal speed to work up too. Maybe you could even create them in the styles of players like Zakk Wylde that you mentioned. This way we can sound like them but by improvising and not by learning a specific solo of theirs. Either way, thanks for the lessons.

The big problem is that I can’t play these as fast as you and they sound brutally lame unless they are played up to speed. The riffs themselves are straight forward but it is I no matter how much I try I can’t get it up to speed

you have got to fix that pinky, it will always hold you back. when you move it that far, it will always limit your speed and accuracy. this is something you can show your students, that you can always go back and fix technical issues.

You would make yourself sound alot cooler if you'd kind of slow it down a bit for those tryin to pick it up. Almost seems like a show off on ur speed. I have to slow it down manually which instantly makes u loose your coolness talking but is actually hilarious (; If ur stoned watching this try slowing it down to 50% on his outro speech & it's like listening to the other dude in the room who's brain is literally fried by 3 to many bong hits...
