My baby has been feeding for 2-5 minutes during the day, and gaining more than enough weight (got from 6th weight percentile after birhh to 30th at 5 months!) People keep telling me its too short, but I know my flow is fast and she's latched well, so thank you for that reassurance!

My baby eats at minimim 15 min & on avg 30 min! My flow must be slow. Granted, he takes his time & is usually asleep by the end of it.

My baby is 1 year old now and once we got proper latching figured out, he only nurses for maybe 7 minutes max, sometimes even just 1 side. And he is growing perfectly and is so healthy! I definitely have a crazy letdown.

Emma, you're the best thing that's happened to me since my second baby was born. I swear I committed all the mistakes with my first, and to this day, we have a very tumultuous relationship. 😅 My second is such a chill baby from birth on and your videos have helped me to be a chill mom too, so I'm having a much easier and more enjoyable time second time around. Same here, mine will do a nice latch and be done super fast. At first I was worried, but since she's gaining weight well and is satisfied after eating, now I just enjoy the fact that during the night I can quickly take her from her bedside cot, feed her a couple of minutes while laying and put her back without me even fully waking up!

I wouldnt say! My son crawled at 5,5 months, pulled himself up at 6 months and cruised not long after and walked by himself at 11 months! Just quick eager babies! ❤😁 We just baby proofed sharp corners and such things sooner and just let him practice and do what he wanted/needed to do as safe as we could make it without interfering too much!

As long as they do this by themselves I’d think it’s fine! I started walking at 10 months according to my mum and I’m almost 30 now if that helps hahaha!

Not at all. For all milestones there are ranges. Some babies just achieve them earlier than others and that's okay.

My oldest reached some crazy early, some really (really) late. She now has a Gifted diagnoses and an IQ of a person 6 years older, so I guess those were just early signs . 🤷🏼‍♀️ That said, the ranges are pretty wide, but if you see long term unevenness (e.g. a few skills surpassing all others by several milestones), it's worth spending time practicing the skills lagging behind. Anyway, it's all play so just have fun! 😊

Maybe this is not the input you're looking for but if it's age appropriate, please don't be afraid to switch to pumping and/or formula. Bonding is much more important for babies than the type of milk they get or how they get it. It's much better for all involved if it's an enjoyable time for mom and baby than if they get the "desired" nutrition, at the detriment of mom's health, mental or physical. (Source: personal experience with my two)

Hi, is your wife better now? Some nipple Shield is thicker, some are thinner. You may need to buy several. However if u don't mind, please just use a good milk pump to extract the breast milk..it would be easier. Latch on can be done less frequent. It was painful for me as well. Regarding the milk, it is possible to get breastmilk, from other nursing mothers. (Donors). There are tons of mom with extra milk! Facebook groups has it. I get donors breast milk for my baby. She grows well, so healthy! Please do not feel bad if one doesn't have enough milk for the baby. (In case u do!). Your wife is so lucky to have such a concerned hubby. All the best. Cheers.

My baby is almost a week old. I feel like there’s no time for Tummy Time because he is always needing milk or a clean diaper when he’s awake. Otherwise, he’s sound asleep. I don’t want to disturb his sleep for Tummy Time…

I am a new mom to 4 month old and I had the same concern in the beginning but I did what I felt right at that time. I gave him tummy time every twice or thrice a week ( that was the most I could do) now when he is 4 month old, he always wants to be on his tummy as he learned to roll over and I think that’s the same for every baby. Don’t stress a lot and go with the flow😊

I didn't have anytime for tummy time either and now my boy is three months and doing great holding his head up and rolling over. Eating, sleeping, changing diaper are the priorities and as your baby starts to be awake more you can give him the TT but no need to force it, you are doing great! ❤

Dont worry. It is definitely not a priority so early. As my doctor said: all she needs is your love. And it went so much better with it. No stress. My baby hated tummy time for months but then it changed in a matter of a day. Also, there are positions when you're holding them and they can still excercide their neck muscles. But you Love is a priority. All the best

Hi, thank you so much for your videos. They have been great help from day1. So my baby is almost 4 months old and she is not taking any formula milk. She is not accepting any bottle. I even pumped my milk and tried to give it to her through the bottle, she doesn’t take it but latch on breast straightaway. Tried mam and tommie tippie bottles so far. Been trying for over a month, no luck. I am worried she will not take the bottle at all. It is stressful and draining to only rely on breastmilk. What can you suggest please? Can I start with solid or is there any other way to give her the formula milk?

Hi. I had a similar problem with my kid. Try to feed your baby with a bottle during night while baby is sleepy and less eager to fuss.

For the last 5 weeks, my baby has been crying so much during the day- even when all her needs are met. She is almost colicky. She stops crying when I pick her up. I simply don’t have the capacity to hold her all day. Please help I’m going crazy and google is not helpful at all! Do I attend to all her cries and hold her or just let her cry sometimes?

I know your question is directed at Emma and I hope she can get back to you. But, have you tried baby wearing? I'm a first time mom to a 6 month old and up until maybe 3 weeks ago, she loves to be held constantly. Currently she can be set down for longer periods and will play with her toys. But, since birth she has always loved being worn in a ring sling, woven or stretchy wrap, or in a structured carrier. She loves them all. I can hold her hands free and she gets to be close to me while I do simple chores and whatnot. I highly recommend it.

The general rule of thumb is to respond to they crying in 5 minutes maximum - if possible. Most of the time you should response even more directly. You should not let your baby cry. Sometimes with more childes you can respond so directly, but reseach has also shown, that they can understand in a way when you speak to them, that you will get to them as soon as you can. It’s totaly normal that they have phases were they want to be carried almost the whole day. One of these phases is often around 5 months.

I think the child is developing separation anxiety which babies develop when around 6 months of age. This is normal. She will be over this anytime by 18 months, probably even earlier. In the meantime you can try reassuring her vocally rather than picking her up every single time. Surprise her without picking her up. Introduce new toys. Engage her in other ways and if she isn't soothed, do pick her up.

I know this might be a bit late, but my doctor and midwife told me that a baby cannot gain too much weight as long as it is exclusively breastfed on demand. This is in line with my experience. My little brother gained almost 10 pounds in the first twelve weeks due to breastfeeding. He was fully breastfed for six month. From walking age onwards he was always a very tall but thin child and is now 18 years old, 6.6 feet tall and a slim man without any tendency to be overweight. But if you are not exclusively breastfeeding, it is a good idea to talk to your doctor if your baby is gaining too much weight. Greetings from Germany!

The doctor says it’s fine but I’ve read a few studies that say that children who are even exclusively breastfed and gain weight rapidly in the first year tend to be overweight as adults so it freaked me out. Not that I’d care if she was but I don’t want to be doing something wrong so early on that would then make her life a little more difficult for no reason. I was trying to make my milk the best quality (ie drinking lots of coconut water and putting coconut cream in my cooking, drinking a few cups of beef broth a day) so I think that’s what initially started it. We’re supplementing with formula now because I’m drying up a lot. She doesn’t like the formula much and she’s moving more so I’m sure it will all be fine. Thank you for letting me know though that’s really sweet of you.

My baby is 8 months already but she is not ready for food yet.. I think? She only eat finger food and bites very little and plays with it before throwing. But every time i gave her food shes very hesitant to open her mouth. But when she does, 3 to 4 small amount and thats enough. She wont accept, push it with her tongue or cry. But she's breastfeeding and shes healthy.

One of my midwife's daughters refused to eat until over 9 months old. She was exclusively breastfed until she showed an interest in food on her own. From then on, she initially only ate small pieces of bread with liver sausage (which may sound a bit strange, but is pretty normal in Germany) and tomato, until she eventually expanded her palette. Give her the time she needs, as long as she is breastfed she will get all the nutrients she needs in the first year of her life.
