Couturier was faaaar better than "just okay" in his first 6 seasons. He was our second most important player behind Giroux from his second season onwards. His defensive play has been incredible from the get go.

Kadri to an extent, although looking back now he had a pretty normal development process. Maybe a little slower than you'd want from a top 10 pick on a rebuilding team but some players need more development than others and patience is required. Coaching seemed to be a big factor in his "slower" development. Also starting his career during the beginning of a rebuild in Toronto added alot of extra pressure to his development. He was a solid player in jrs Putting up 258 points in 242 Games between Kitchener and London. His NHL career started out slower putting up 19 points in his first 51 games, and alot of people thought he wasn't living up to the hype. In between he had stints in the AHL where he trained with Gary Roberts who he credits with really helping his fitness and development. He found success under Dallas Eakins on the Marlies and put up 107 points in 119 games. During the lockout season in 2012-13 he put up 44 points in 48 games and showed that he was capable of being a top 6 forward in the NHL. His best seasons so far comming in 16-17 and 17-18 where he had back to back 32 goal seasons putting up 61 and 55 points in the process. Throughout his time on the Leafs He developed his defensive abilities becoming a solid two-way forward while having a physical side to his game showing he had elements of a power forward who could also score. He became one of the more annoying players to play agianst. Ultimately his playing over the edge style lead to his departure from the Leafs after being tossed out of playoff games two years in a row. But he proved alot of people wrong and became a solid top 6 forward with scoring ability and other intangibles (Defence, Physically, Agitating the other team) he needed a few season in the minors to really hone his craft, but has become a solid player who was able to really expanded his game at the NHL level after being drafted 7th overall in 2009.

Damn well written and I couldn't say more, I've followed Kadri since draft Day , remember watching him being drafted and everything. Everything you said is in point. Despite being in the toronto market and being Muslim , Kadri stepped up and did well . Even dispite his fitness levels , Kadri turned into a great player only for the Avalanche to pick him up at the right time .

As a leaf fan the dude is still my favorite player, I think the team missed his tenacity this year, Matthews seemed to up his this year to make up for it luckily but I still want my kaddy back! But the Avs are a fun team to watch so I'm happy he ended up there!
@alexleblanc5926
@alexleblanc5926 4 жыл бұрын
@@Gergentine For sure, I've always said the Leafs need a legit power forward, a guy who can be physical and raise the tempo of the game when needed, I miss Matt Martin for what he brought. Hard to find that type of player who can also be an offensive threat. They'll miss Kadri for what he brought. I wish he could have stuck around longer, but I get why they traded him. I've always liked the Avalanche so I'm glad he went to a team like them.

I think Kaako will explode and be a great “top-6” goal scorer within two years. Additionally, I also believe in a few years after some development Jack Hughes will also be a solid “top-6” centerman.
@FHL-Devils
@FHL-Devils 4 жыл бұрын
Hughes will never be an NHL Centerman. He's ~40% on FO%, and has been since pre-draft events against players who would never even be drafted. His 2-way game has never been there, and he simply doesn't have the size to be an NHL center. He spent the last 1/3 of the season on the wing, and that's almost certainly where he'll spend the rest of his career.

Hello from 2 years in the future. 8:30 as it stands Stamkos has 481 goals and 972 points, at his age it looks doubtful he will break 600. Still a 500 goal scored, 1000 points, 7 all-stars and (at least) two Stanley cups. Not Gretzky, but ranks around #100 all time for points, not a bad career

Being a Devils fan I truly think Hughes should have gone the college route and bulked up worked on his game some more because it truly showed when it came to certain things he was pushed off the puck way to easily hopefully it's just the pain of him coming from where he did jumping straight into playing with full grown men Kakko with the way he was put out there i seriously though he would have done better then what he did i was fully expecting him to be in the running for the Calder i dislike the rangers so much but i still thought Kakko was more and likely going to make Jersey look foolish for passing him up this year

I remember when Couturier was underachieving. Jim Jackson and Keith Jones were always saying he could be so much more. I thought he sucked and needed to be gone. Well the 2017-18 season happened and I was shocked. Then I found out he played the 2018 playoffs on a knee more fucked than the Flyers goalie situation for almost all of the 2010s. That's when I knew he was legit. Now, he's one of if not the best player on the Flyers (when healthy) and I've been eating shit since my words in 2015
@Ryukasan1

Everybody knows the story of Stamkos. His relation with coach Barry Melrose at the beggining of his career, was extremely toxic to say the least. Melrose, hired straight out of ESPN after 12 years of not coaching in the NHL, was an old school guy. That means, leading with an iron fist and rookies are gonna bite the dust. He was not a fan of Stamkos being treated as a prodigee and kept on using him on the 3rd line without much PP time. Needless to say, the owners didn't enjoy the progression of Stamkos under Melrose and replaced him with Rich Tocchet who only needed 20 games to give Stamkos his confidence back and transform him into the player he was projected to be.

Hughes is already one of the best puck carriers in the show check the in depth stats its actually very impressive if he went to the Rangers i guarantee he would have had 40 plus points. There was zero help on the devils, his teammates NEVER finished when he set up a beautiful play and he's been robbed more times than I can count. Jack has been more unlucky than anything I can definitely see this kid getting 90 points one day.

Nucks fan here. I'm super happy you put Nichushkin on this list. Yes I know he's the guy that will be forever tied to Horvat and blah and blah, but any time I watched him on the Avalanche this year he completely took me by surprise and wow, what a player! He's blazing fast and has a giant frame - kinda looks like a missile out there. And thanks for bringing light to his defensive game. That's not something I took notice of, but I'm all the more impressed now. He's a unique player and a scary one at that, even if his numbers in the NHL haven't indicated that yet.

Steven Stamkos probably won't have a hall of fame career he might though he has 800 points he still has time though.

Stamkos is not the best goal scorer in the NHL. Not in the current generation. Ovechkin, Matthews, McDavid, and John Tavares are better

you keep saying people are calling kakko and hughes busts already but i have not heard that anywhere. Most people understand that they're too young to be saying that. It sounds like something tim and sid might say.

@@RobTalksHockey damn that's lame. Give the kids a minute before writing them off. It's not even just them. Coaches have to learn how to use them properly, who to put them with. Not everybody is sid
