Today, if you want your portraiture to stand out, it is essential to be skilled in post production. This video is the tip of the iceberg.

Hi just discovered your channel - your refreshingly ‘just enough’ level and run time are exactly what I need and appreciate as an intermediate photographer/post processor - thank you. Yes please, I’d be very interested in similar videos to this looking at Nik Colour and Silver Effex

I would be interested in learning more about your step 3; managing foreground and background exposure. It looks like you may have used a little fill-in flash on your model to achieve this. Cheers 🙂

I'm so happy that I found this channel! Great job Brother... Color Efex Pro... I'm shocked to hear you maje reference to this. I have it; I use Silver efex, I doubt I've used it and I was sure it was only helpful in landscape photography... I can't picture what it does for portraiture, would really appreciate that video.... subscription confirmed.

That will have to be a multi part video. There are many many things that I do in color effects and silver effects. But I’m glad you’re interested and thanks for watching!

What about sharpening? Do you add additional sharpening before printing portraits? Thanks for the video. Cheers from 🇨🇦 ...

“Extra” is a little slippery here. I have to check my import preset for how much but it adds some. RAW generally needs some. I haven’t updated that setting in years TBH so I guess that’s a statement in itself about how little I fool with it. Thanks for watching!

Might have to go with older non cloud versions of Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. I don't make anything from my hobby, but I do miss using Photoshop for everything. I know there's free to use products like gimp and NX studio (I use an old Nikon d5300), but at a time in high school where I was taught how to use Photoshop, I miss it.

If I had my druthers I'd prefer non-cloud subscriptions as well, but they are putting in life changing masking funtions in - ESPECIALLY in LR. This video really only scratched the surface. I'm waiting to see the interest level. Thanks for watching!

Why do most bloggers work in Lightroom, and then export to Photoshop, and then after processing back to Lightroom? Isn't it easier to do everything in Photoshop and Camera Row?

I can only speak for me. Lightroom has great organizational and interface advantage over Photoshop, for me. Everyone likes different interfaces. Also, my end result is always going to print, it never stays digital, so I need what photo shop does for the final move to canvas. Thanks for watching!

you can't organize your zillions pictures in Camera raw

Camera Raw is just one of Photoshop's filters, and there's a companion Bridge tool for organizing, searching, selecting folders, rating, and tagging files. What's more, if you convert a layer to a Smart Object in Photoshop, you can always go back to editing everything you need in Camera Raw or other Adobe filters.

@@albertzhager7852 All good points, but I think it still is just personal preference mostly. I do wedding photography often, and that means thousands of images to sort and adjust. For me, LR is much faster than PS as far as workflow is concerned. I can edit hundreds of wedding photos of dancing and family groups very quickly because they usually only get the basic corrections. After I've flagged my top 'wall-hangers', I'll edit those separately in PS for a more precise edit. I have never tried Bridge, so maybe I'll give it a shot, but the thought of editing hundreds of photos in PS in a timely manner is certainly daunting. Of course that's just my preference, I realize you said 'bloggers' in your post, I wonder if that's just the way a lot of people do it even if they aren't officially considered 'bloggers'.

@EvolutionImagesProductions this is similar to me. I have a fellow photog who loves bridge though. I’ve watched his workflow and it seems the long way round to me 🤷‍♂️. To each his own.
