The last therapist I talked to said: "It's okay to have an affair; just don't share it with her." I immediately terminated my future appointments.

I had a similar experience. I went to a counselor and told him that I had problems with lust, and that I was cheating. The therapist said "well does your wife know". I said no. He was like well you don't really have a problem then. It was my last appointment too. I continued the affair. If I had gotten good advice, I would have quit the side chick instead of the therapist!

It is so hard. I believe every word of this, but my ex-husband didn’t leave me a choice. I found out about the affair and got a notice from his lawyer the next day. Two years later, and he is still with this person and wall still high. It is hard to move on when I still believe family is worth fighting for, but he made it clear there is nothing to fight for for him, and I know that pleading makes you even less attractive to that person. So what can a person do? I try to just accept it and move on, but part of me still wants to fix something.

Tanya, use your energy now to accept the change and grow in personal ways to avoid this from ever happening again. It sounds like you were blindsided and that usually means there were so many things you were taking care of that you had little energy to care or nurture your marriage. A therapist can really help you build inner awareness, strength and confidence going forward. Please go for you. MJo

I'm going through the same thing. My world was flipped upside down when my wife filed. It's been two months since the filing, and it looks like she's going through with it. What I've learned is any decision I make has to be focused on making MYSELF a better human. Go to the gym, find some healthy coping strategies, work on your PIES (Personal, Intellectual, Emotional, Spiritual) daily goals. Here's a realization I've come to. Her deciding to come back to me (if she does) should be solely based on what she believes. Not my influence. Because at the end she wants to be content with her decision. Anything else she'll resent you for it.

Carl, I would replace the word "happiness" with emotional and physical well-being. I worry about the word happiness, life is learning about ourselves and serving others and that requires sacrifice and suffering too. But, by all means, if someone is abusive; emotionally, physically, or sexually you don't have a choice. Leave! Thanks for your comment....when subs comment we all grow. She came back from therapy from being sick physically and mentally and now she wants to leave me because all the trauma she had when she was little like, I’m not the one who did that to you and I’m sorry but you know I don’t know how to fix those things that’s why you go to a specialist but she saying I’m part of the problem but I didn’t. I didn’t do anything to her like I’m not the one who abused her or she was little and do this things and But she tells me that I should’ve been there enough more to help her get through it which I get it but those are some things that I am not a professional to help with those things. I can listen and stuff but there’s some things that she didn’t even tell me what was going on because I’ll traumatic it was, so I’m I’m blindsided I’m hurt I just don’t know what to do. I try to be everything else but there’s only so much I can do…..I still love you babe. I hope therapy today helps you because your therapist doesn’t know that you want to get a divorce right after you got out of the hospital.

Some good points. I don't think anyone should stay married just for the children and your unhappy with the person your married too. Living in a home pretending and having to stay faithful and celibate because of religious restraints is a miserable life. This is why in olden days people were desperate and did evil to get out by any means. A divorce is much cleaner a d safer, because no one wants to be the object of hatred and hurt. Mary Jo Buttafuoco is pime example of a spouse being hated on by a wicked husband and his mistress. She has to live with the bullet fragments in her body all because Joe didn't file for divirce when he wasn't faithful and should've gotten out od his marriage. Very sad thing, smh. I think about this woman concerning what some married couples should do to leave before it gets ugly.

Lorraine, thank you for the insightful comment. It really helps me dive deeper into this topic. It isn't a question of having a good marriage or getting out with a divorce. This is the main obstacle for therapists helping couples in a troubled marriage. You can FIX troubled marriages, it's as if we've raised a generation of people who feel hopeless if they have bad days in their marriage. Everyone who has a great marriage has bad times, you shouldn't sit or get stuck in the bad times. Don't marry someone who uses divorce as an option if the marriage is going badly. Marry someone who is a problem solver and willing to work on themselves to make necessary changes when the marriage is in conflict. The latest statistics on marriage research support that one half of all divorces didn't have to happen when couples got marriage counseling. What I tell couples now is treat your marriage like you do a constant learning opportunity. Get to know your partner, be curious, work on understanding each other, take turns listening. If you don't get a response worthy of respect, instead of seeking a lawyer's help or striking back with anger, turn to a counselor or an on-line marriage support system. Learn how to communicate with your partner. Take a look at my homework assignments and download them, work on them as a couple. I agree with you, you should never put yourself in a situation where hate and resentment have overshadowed communication. However, look within before you begin blaming your partner.

People put all sorts of expectations on marriage, but at the end of the day it isn't suppose to make you happy, live in bliss or anything else you don't create. It's a life style. Just as single is single, married is married. We don't equate the two as equal, but both are choices we make. A marriage is created by two people and within the couple's creating is where marriage becomes so interesting to me as a therapist.

Marriage is between a man and a woman. Marriage is for better and for worse until death separates (Matthew 19:3-6). ‘Wherefore they are no more two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together let no man put asunder (separate)’. Cheating on your wife or husband is sin. Proverbs 28: 13 says, ‘‘He that covers his sins shall not prosper...You must repent of them, confess and forsake them (1 John 1:9). Are you into worldliness? Don’t you know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? (James 4:4; II John2:15-17). So, you must stop bleaching your body or painting your mouth, eyes, hands and legs or fixing attachments, weave-on, earrings (Genesis 35:2-4), bangles, chains and frying or perming your hair. Tattooing your body is satanic. Are you one of those that put on nude dresses, short skirts, transparent dresses to seduce men or women (a Seducer or a Promoter of lust is a Sinner - Mathew 5:28) Perhaps you wear trousers as a woman? (Read Deuteronomy 22:5), that is an abomination (Revelation 21:8, 27). Therefore, make up your mind, repent and give your life to Jesus Christ. Are you spoilt? Jeremiah 4:30 says, ‘‘And when thou art spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; thy lovers will despise thee. They will seek thy life’’. (2 Kings 9:30; Hosea 2:13; Exodus 33:1-6) A Christian is not a Sinner and a Sinner is not a Christian (I John 3:9). If you must be a blessed child of God, then you must repent of your sins and give your life to Jesus Christ. If you believe Jesus Christ today, righteousness of God will come into your life and abundant life will be your portion (1 John 11-12). If you neglect this call to repentance and salvation and die, you will not escape fire of Hell (Hebrews 2:3). It is foolishness and sin to say or think that there is no God (Psalm 14:1; 9:17). Luke 13:3, Jesus said, ‘I tell you, Nay: but except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish’. Cut off every besetting sin (Hebrew 12:1-2; Mark 9:43-48). If you have decided now (2 Corinthians 6:2) to give your life to Jesus Christ and to forsake your sinful lifestyle, please say this prayer: Almighty God, I come unto you in the name of Jesus. Father I confess that I am a sinner. All my sins I confess to you. I am very sorry for all my sins (mention those you can remember). Lord I promise you that from today I will never continue in them anymore. I believe that Jesus Christ died and rose again on the third day for my justification. Almighty God, use the blood of Jesus to wash my sins away. Lord Jesus, come into my heart, be my Lord and personal Saviour. I surrender my life to you. Cancel my name from the books of death and write it in the book of life. Give me power to sin no more. In Jesus name I pray. Amen!! 'THE LORD'S CHOSEN CHARISMATIC REVIVAL MOVEMENT'. www.tlccrm.org OR www.tlccrm.org/chosentv kzbin.info 1John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Hell is a place of torment forever...continuous burning by fire. The fire is never quenched, with crying and weeping forever (Mark 9:43-48; Psalm 9:17; Mathew 25:41). It was originally prepared for satan and his demons, but anybody that obeys the devil in committing sin and refuse to repent and accept Jesus Christ, if the person dies in sins, he or she will be thrown into Hell. You still have the opportunity to repent now, amend your ways, live and spend eternity in heaven. Go to www.tlccrm.org You may be asking; how do I stop all these sins? Simply take the first step of repentance and have inner hatred for those sins, then ask Jesus to forgive you and come into your life to be your Lord and personal Saviour. In John 1:12, there is power that will be given to you, and in Mathew 11:28, if you receive Jesus into your life, He will deliver you and give you victory over those sins; then you will need to cut off from the source of those sins in your life (may be sinful friends; stop the evil relationship. This gospel is not to condemn you, but for you to be convicted so that you will repent and give your life to Jesus Christ who loves you and really wants you to make it to heaven at the end of your life here on earth

Sorry, thought I fell asleep and woke up in the wrong century there lol 😆. If you think women wearing trousers is a sin, you've a lot to learn about life 😂. That's the least of people's worries! Marriage is between 2 people who love each other, regardless of orientation/race etc etc. I've got no issues with anyone being religious, but omg we live in a modern society with different values nowadays. Doesn't the bible say something about let those who cast the 1st stone be without sin? 😉 Let others live their lives how they choose, and they'll gladly let you live yours how you wish, regardless of how outdated it is. @@lindatannock Believe this gospel Are you into idolatry? Are you into cultism, whether open or secret cult? Do you practice witchcraft or Yoga? Do you smoke cigarette or cannabis? Do you sell them or offer them to people? Do you smoke or sniff hard drugs such as cocaine, heroin, captain black, hashish or other banned drugs or snuff? Are you lusting - lusting after men or women, covetous, alcohol drinking (proverbs 31:4-6)? You must repent, stop them and give your life to Jesus Christ. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. Are you into marry and divorce? Then you are a sinner. Are you married to more than one person? Repent!! Amen!!
