My moissanite engagement ring custom designed by my husband and Jordan is stunning. @@jlo1423 Do you work for a diamond company or something? Why are you commenting on every comment? Moissanite isn't a fake diamond, it's just a different gemstone that happens to have similar properties. Lots of gemstones share similarities. You do realise that diamonds are actually pretty worthless, they aren't rare at all. De beers own the majority of diamond mines in the world, and while there are vast amounts of diamonds in the ground they are careful to release just enough to satisfy the market each year, thereby keeping prices high. If you want to buy an overly priced gemstone that will massively depreciate in value the moment you buy it, go ahead. Personally I'd rather not fund such a corrupt industry, not to mention all the human rights violations.

Having a conflict-free stone was one of the most important things to me in an engagement ring. You can't do anything about how antique jewelry was created, but you absolutely can control how you produce/obtain your jewelry today, and I personally never wanted to wear a daily, lifelong reminder of a business that would potentially create my ring amid a violation of human rights. My engagement ring stone is an asscher cut, lab-grown moissanite, and I appreciate every time I take a long, close look at my ring that my fiance gifted me a ring that was produced ethically, and that we share this value.

I mean, my wedding rings basically never leave my finger. I LIKE having a smaller size stone, thank you very much. I specifically told him that I didn’t want a large stone on a ring that would wear every day. I like that my rings feel like they have become part of my hand. The fit was completely perfect too. His parents gave my husband his mom’s first wedding rings (they “upgraded” rings after 25 years of marriage.). A completely perfect fit from his mother’s ring. I also told my husband that I liked vintage things that had history to them, and that I would be super proud to have an engagement/wedding ring that had family history. He decided right then that I DEFINITELY a “keeper”.

My girlfriend told me about moissanite. She said when I pop the question get moissanite instead of a diamond because we can put all that razzle dazzle money that a diamond would cost into something for sensible that could benefit us as a couple. When she said that I fell in love even more. She's absolutely gorgeous and not too many women nowadays would say that. And to see this video really made me feel a lot better about it. I'm eyeing a 2 carat one set in platinum that's right under 3k

Great video! I would love to see a similar video about sapphires or even about the different types of settings, metals, etc. It's overwhelming to try to find the "right" ring/materials but your video lays out the facts in a fun and entertaining way. Thanks for making!

I bought a moissanite ring a while ago and it sparkles in the most beautiful way. The only trouble is that it’s set in sterling silver with an open (i.e. adjustable) ring design, so people would know it’s a cheaper alternative when they spot that. Perhaps I should’ve asked for a custom made ring that’s my size instead.

I love my moissanite ring!! I think it’s better than diamond in every single respect- one other thing I love about moissanite that you didn’t mention is that moissanite reflects in rainbow colors whereas diamond reflects only white

That's not correct...but it depends what you mean by "reflect".

Unfortunately I can tell the difference between a moissanite and diamond. It reminds me of a sparkly CZ… so it wasn’t an option for me. Still got my house and two post graduate degrees after that. Thankfully our jobs pay well, I have my own practice in addition and my guy is really good at accounting and saving ! 👌🏾

I would love to see you do a comparison of clear sapphires and moissanite!
@awhite37473 жыл бұрын
If clarity, weight, cut and size are the same, you'll get brilliance from a sapphire but you will get more refraction (colours in the flash) from a moissanite. You can buy both synthesized sapphires and moissanites but only naturally-formed jewellery grade sapphires. There are other gems that give you more "fire" than a moissanite but either they are not suitable for every day wear or should never be set into a ring.
@Burning_Dwarf3 жыл бұрын
Sapphires tho (Then again i am a sucker for pretty colours)

Love mossanite, brilliant stone. Always ask for the certificate of authenticity and check the laser etching. Anyway it was De Beers diamond advertising idea, to make it a girls best friend . Hence the reason they loaned out big diamonds out to film stars, and again make most film scripts with engagements, with a diamond playing as a star role. Brilliant advertising. Check out the film “ Breakfast at Tiffany’s “ I expect there will be De Beers name somewhere in the credits

My beautiful moissanite ring fell into the lake at our cottage when I had an accent with the dock. I usually take it off to go swimming and I forgot to. I had it 7 years and it cost us very little at the time. No one had ever heard of it. But when the jeweler showed us the papers of authentication and we saw that it was basically star dust, we were sold. It was just under $700 CAD at the time for 1CT, simple round cut. Now, jewelers near us and even online are asking $1,500 or more. Even the place we bought it from, who still had us on record, quoted us $2,000 CAD due to popularity. So almost 3 years later and I'm sill engagement ring-less because the price sky rocketed. Our 10 year wedding anniversary is August 2022 and I'm trying to find a reasonable place that sell this stone. Either way, BEST STONE EVER!

I don't think there's any other reason than it's cheaper. I'd say go with a sapphire as sapphire comes in all colors of the rainbow and its price depending on its rarity can rival a diamond easily. And it's utterly beautiful.
