I am always trying out apps…lots can be a waste of time. I got so over it I have been just sticking to recording everything on Notes. Great for keeping any info especially with it’s great search ability. However it is frustrating me with to do lists. So, very pleased to see this review….am inspired to have another go. Thanks.

I have things3 for iPad and for iPhone. I had them for a while and haven’t gotten far with them before discovering your videos. So far you have the most useful tutorials I’ve seen for things 3 and they have been a big help. I also learned a lot from your apple notes tutorials. I’m currently taking a look at your courses to determine which are most suitable as a follow up.

After trying all of the popular task managers, I’ve settled on Things 3 for iPhone and your videos have been very helpful! The only things I wish Things offered were: 1) option to sort lists alphabetically 2) option to star items to make them a top priority or list as urgent 3) ability to view tags on iPhone w/o clicking on item (or even to assign various tag colors) but it still works better for me than other app . I’d love to try Things 3 on my Mac sometime since the larger view would make it much easier to organize and plan. Thanks! -A fellow vegan

Great video Peter! I always find myself juggling between Things & Todoist. My work device is a Mac, which is fine for my iPhone & iPad but my personal device is a Windows. So I often use Todoist on Windows or web. Do you ever find yourself missing a web version? Again, great video 🎉
@samueltremblay275
@samueltremblay275 Жыл бұрын
Yes there is no web version of Things 3 but another thing missing is the fact that Things 3 is registered by Apple ID so if you have both a personal and work Mac computers, this doesn't mean it will be easy because you will have a hard time to fill data from those different areas. I mean, your work computer will probably have a work Apple ID so you will not be able to add tasks from your personal life from that computer. Using Todoist, you can switch using Log Out, Log In at least.

I don't think anyone could've made a more presentable version of this, and vote for it be used as their official overview lol. This is the first video I watched in my attempt to research some to-do apps - and it'll be the last one, partially because of your presenting skills, but I just love the slightly whimsical design with the 'Someday' and 'Anytime' features. It seems quite compatible with my brain's way of thinking about... things lol. 😂 The widget feature is also brilliant for encouraging the planting of the "seed of planning" for those more spur-of-the-moment ideas you might otherwise not deem significant enough to actually add to your agenda. This is chef's kiss content, gg peter! 🙌

I've been using Omni Focus since it's inception. The thought of purchasing another task management app just to try it seems insane. The first video of yours I saw was about OmniFocus and not putting a date on something that doesn't really need a date and then there was a video about the 'next' tag. Your suggestions have really helped. So now your telling us that Things 3 is the be all end all - well - I'd like to try it, but I've been hesitating because of the cost.

I have been using Pocket Informant for about 7 years, I just switched to Things and it’s much better. I’ve come to the realisation that a more complicated task manager takes away from the tasks themselves, I would spend too long managing my tasks rather than actually doing them.
@podnuh
@podnuh 2 жыл бұрын
Ive used OmniFocus for many years and have learned a lot of cool tips from these videos. I’m interested in Things because OmniFocus 3 just looks dated and there doesn’t seem to be any projected release dates for OmniFocus 4. The main reason I’m hesitant is because I’m afraid I’ll miss transferring some important future task, recurring task or future deadline that I have in OmniFocus when moving to Things.

Things has a free trial. I’ve used both, and Things is honestly garbage compared to omnifocus. They’re not even in the same ballpark if you actually need more than just a barebones task manager. Things does look better, but that’s about it.

When you open the app you want to immediately see the context, not your responsibilities, life goals etc. That's why I think the current layout of Things with areas is always visible and context is hidden (somewhere in tags...) is bad for everyday productivity.

Hello Peter. I've been using Things for my personal to-dos for a while now. That also works great and I notice how my head is relieved and I am more productive. Unfortunately, I have a Windows pc in the office and cannot use Things there. Of course I could take my iPad to the office, but I don't want to mix my personal and professional to-dos. That would rob me privately of the overview. What can I do? Another app like ToDoist is harder for me to use.

I have a big issue with Things. Undo almost never works reliably. I would like to think I'm not the only person that makes mistakes, but whether I am on the Mac or on my iPhone, or my iPad, sometimes even the very last thing I did like delete a task won't Undo. Or move to another project. It frustrates me and makes me feel like I cannot trust it. But it's usability above most other apps, makes it fantastic. I wish you could save something like "perspective" like OmniFocus has but this can definitely be handled with Shortcuts for the most part. At least I tell myself that until I find something complicated I can't do and forget that I should just be doing things not fiddling or troubleshooting why an OmniFocus perspective is not working correctly.

I am interested in trying Things 3 but not sure which version to buy. I sometimes manage apps on my iPhone but also on my iPad or my iPad mini. I see that there are apps specifically for each...do I need to buy BOTH apps? I want something that's a little more advanced than apple reminders but is based in the apple ecosystem and will allow me to manage my tasks and projects from whatever device I am on. Any suggestions?

Hi Peter, as always, great video. Im having this issue with Today, where Im having difficulty setting what task should I add to Today. If add too much from projects and areas, it can get overwhelming, if I want to select 10 tasks for example, I dont know which task to choose. Is there a formula that you use or a general rule that you follow?

And please do so in the next three days because your coupon code expires at some point and I cannot regenerate it. (Note: I am not on Telegram. Ignore scammers who ask you to contact “me” on Telegram.) As for your question: I recommend starting with a clean slate most days. Use the Anytime view to pick some tasks to get started with-assign them to Today. If you complete them before the end of the day, just go back to Anytime and pick some more.

(See what I did there? 😜) I used the trial of Things 3 back towards the end of my PhD (before the big C got in the way) and it really helped get things in order. It was also really helpful for job searching as I was able to use quick capture to save job ads to a “project” and add a deadline. I've used Things 3 for iOS for I don't know how many years (over 5?), and I love how the app can easily evolve with me through different phases of my life. I've always use Things for productivity, but now I'm starting to track my exercise and health in Things as well. I like to "share" my Apple Fitness workouts to Things, and schedule my workouts so I don't have to pick one before beginning a workout--that removes some friction and makes exercising so much easier. I also love being able to see my progress with workouts in the Logbook and duplicate workouts I enjoyed to do in the future. Things was also the first app i downloaded when i purchased an iPad about 2 years ago, and I love how easy it is to use alongside my laptop as I'm working! I always knew there was Things for macOS, and now that I'm using my laptop more these days, I think it'd be a worthwhile investment. Thank you for all of your videos on Things 3 (and Notes), Peter. I learn something new with every video you release!
