Its tough being a Storm trooper. Unless you have the money to buy the loot boxes. Thats why the Elite Troopers did well start of the film. Their Star Cards were fully maxed out. The rebels didn't stand a chance since they didn't have any. Han Solo had maxed out Star Cards so hes op. The other Storm Troopers only had level 1 Star Cards to none. Any time you see poor aiming. Its due to not having a good Star Card deck.

Well, still not as bad as being a Clone Trooper. Those guys were literally made for the sole purpose of fighting, their armour wasn't blaster-proof, the only friends and family they had were the other clones, and then they had to watch their comrades die on them because they got shot by a random droid. As if that wasn't enough, at the end of the war they were all brain-controlled by a microchip implanted into their brain and ordered to kill all their generals. At that point, the horrified troopers who suffered immensely under mental distress over what they'd just done, they were all fired and replaced by stormtroopers.

First order stormtroopers would like to have a word with you. They were abducted at a very young age from their homes and parents. Clones at least could trust other clones. First order stormtroopers couldn't have that luxury. They would bond with other stormtroopers only for them to later fight at the request of their superiors. Sure FO troopers had better equipment but that really didn't matter. They were in one of the most incompetent factions ever. Imagine being abducted at 5 or even less. Then being forced to undergo harsh training and have only other stormtroopers as friends and then be reminded that you'd have to turn against you own friends and they'd also have to turn against you. At the same time you're being indoctrinated into killing seemingly innocent people. Do you really think clones have it the worst?

I got the feeling their armor was more like a uniform rather than any actual protection. They're shown falling against enemies wielding wooden melee weapons. On top of their bad helmets, is it canon under Disney that the high recoil of their blasters also affect their aim? And how do they compare against Clone armor, which occasionally shows named characters survive a few hits.

That because they're named characters. Stormtrooper armor is better at making the wearer survive a shot than clone armor. Clone armor is more like a uniform since clones mostly die from one shot, and the rebels told the ewoks to attack the exposed body glove of the stormtrooper.

The fact that they often fire their blasters from the hip or from the upper chest rather than using their sights doesn't really help much with their aim. Granted, we also almost always see stormtroopers firing their E-11s with the stock folded up, and you really can't manage recoil, or stabilize a weapon all that well when not bracing it on your shoulder.

Will Modern body armor is not completely proof either. Before the 1600s body armor was the main thing, and it made a huge difference in the battlefield because it can block just about everything; at least European armor could. Now ever since the 1600s firearms became more and more dangerous. Even modern body armor is not 100% proof and modern Kevlar helmet cannot stop rifle rounds at close range. (Some new ones that are just now coming to the market can stop the.223, 5.56, and 7.62 the new 6.5 bullet may do other wise) And the other thing is...here it comes...it's a movie that's why the Stormtroopers cannot hit the main characters...

Skate Trooper Star Wars has interstellar spaceflight. With that kind of technology, their body armor should be lightyears ahead of modern armor. It should be able to protect them from Ewoks & blind Jedi with wooden weapons.

Mark Ferrer The thing about the Ewoks is plot weapons and plot armor, just very bad Leftist writing like the movie Avatar. But the on real world talk: the thing is yes armor does improve but so does weapons. We have amazing new body armors that came out the past 5 to 16 years in the market that can stop so many different bullets even a 300 blackout and are only a few millimeters thick and new helmets that can stop .223, 5.56, and 7.62 but the military doesn't have yet or use. Hell, medieval plat armor can stop most 9mm bullets and maybe a .44 mag. And medieval plate armors are very light unlike the myths say it was heavy. But anyways now there are new rounds like a .22 Nosler that is better than a 5.56, and New 6.5 Grendel that is way better than all of them. These new bullets are better in every way the new rifles are just as light or lighter than the current ones yet way more powerful & way more accurate with the same kick/recoil. (power does not always equal accuracy) If those new guns become mainstream then body armor becomes equal on how it was before instead of being way better. The new body armor even out the Playing field but then new weapons do not. It's like the old saying goes you build a better mousetrap I build better Mouse. The Western Civilization now & then always made the best body armors and Weapons as well as mechanics, and architecture. Even Muslim historians talk about how the Europeans built better houses, forts, and arms and armor, as well as how their own Muslim powerful war bows and arrows did almost nothing to the normal European foot Soldiers during the Crusades. (Yea just imagine knights then) The golden age of body armor was in 1500s-1300s Europe . The silver age was 1200s-800BC in Europe. We do not know if those days will ever come back to the world.

Well if you see how the Clone Troopers are wasted you could argue if their armor was so good. Of course it is a lot part "thanks" to the fact that they not very often take cover, but the casualties-rates if you see Cloe Troopers in action in EP II and III and Cloe Wars is maybe even higher than that of Stormtroopers.

I like how cannon has reversed course. They tried to talk up Stormtroopers as elite troops but the onscreen performance really destroyed that notion. No way around their poor performances. Especially on Rebels. So instead the story is these troops were given tough training but were plagued by impractical equipment and very low morale. Also the basic competency of the officers has to be questioned. So low morale, poor equipment, and bad tactical leadership are the culprits.

Those storm-troopers that were stationed aboard the Death Star were inexperienced, and/or had failed before in actual battle scenarios. The empire always kept their worst troopers within "highly defended" space stations, or aboard Imperial Star Destroyers.

I always had it in my mind that the Stormtrooper armor was more designed for intimidating as well as protecting the wearer against shrapnel and debris flying around on the battlefield due to bombs or artillery fire. Its the same reasoning as to why soldiers started wearing helmets at the start of the 20th century because rather than being bullet proof, they ensured that a hit on the head by heavy heavy rocks or granite blown everywhere wouldn't be fatal.

music4life 704 Clones were turned to the empire because of Order 66 and the microchips in their head that we saw in the animated series. Yeah, the inhibitor chips in the clones made them turn against the Jedi when order 66 was executed with a few exceptions. The storm troopers however are NOT clones. The empire used them for a short time but the facilities on Kamino stopped cloning and the short lifespans of clones made them impractical to use to my knowledge. The empire took children at a young age from their families and put them in academies for accelerated training before becoming stormtroopers. You can even see that when Fin mentions his lost family in episode 7.

You are wrong, Storm troopers had excellent vision through their helmets, when you take off your helmet it is immediately deactivated until you take it back to HQ to reactivate it, there were also excellent shots it is just that they are told to divert the enemy to someplace else
