I'd buy one if they still offered the 6-speed manual. Won't own anything with a CVT transmission. Manuals are cheaper to work on. Cheaper to replace, which hardly ever happens and you control the RPM and power. You can't beat a Roo with a manual in the snow and ice with real snow tires. Bring back the 6-speed and I'll buy one right now. Want one for a daily drive in Montana. Guess, I'll keep my current 2018 Forester. Last year of the Manual 6-speed. All of those 5 reasons sound good, but there are 2 reasons for me why i wouldn't buy it. 1. It's way underpowered, it needs easy 20+ hp. 182 hp just doesn't cut it. It doesn't even need to have a turbo engine, 4 cylinder or V6, just more power. 2. It needs ventilated seats. They need to get on with the program, every other small crossover in the same segment has more power and ventilated seats, at least you get one trim level with those options. 19" wheels wouldn't hurt either, forester has a big body, those 18" wheels look just too small.

Stay away from souped up turbo engines from the allure of more HP, Forester is indeed a good value but not for the all wheel drive Subaru talks so much about, Front wheel drive with t/c is more than enough because in snow the all wheel drive system won't make the car more secure or safer. Comfortable, spacious, good visibility out front, sides and back. Easily learned controls and nothing digital to be accessed from a humongous touch screen like in the Outback. Look at Premium, Sport and think hard about getting the Limited as the bells and whistles may not be worth paying more. Forester is reliable and dependable, as well as reasonably economical on gas, I own a 2018 Premium for which I had to pay extra for the "driver assist features", quite a bit extra, At least these technologies are useful, but not all of them, I recently test drove a '21 Forester and it felt larger and wider than mine. The new one is some 2 " taller and 1" wider. I took it for an extended test drive in a rainy day and it handled well. Hopefully my experience helps.

So what is wrong with a CVT? Had an 11 Forester with manual. The a14 and 17 with CVT. Work just fine better economy too.
Needs a darker dimmable rear view mirror. Auto door lock button is aggravating because it's not illuminated in the dark. Needs an LED on the overhead lights so you can easily figure out which one you left on manually . Serious lack of accessories available like a decent size booger bar brush guard so you can mount off-road lights. Seat belt alarm aggravating cuz it never shuts up. Don't like the feminist door locks you should be able to override that. Would like to have seen a tighter piston ring to cylinder wall relationship oil dirties too quickly when compared with such as Toyota. Inside door grip should be redesigned to make coins easily to get out of or there should be a coin tray. Lack of enough cup holders. Do like the companies Pro pet advertising. Would prefer switchable four-wheel drive option. not crazy about all wheel drive with such a poor tolerance for different tire wear diameter. Local dealer trying to hustle me for a brake fluid flush at the 20,000 mile and injector cleaning. Seems absurd at 20,000 miles. Perhaps Subaru needs to watch its dealer behavior more closely. Forester made in Japan. Japanese cars made in Japan are great ,made in USA poor.

There are more reasons not to buy this ugly looking crossover...Guess spending too much on marketing efforts than investing on exterior styling is doing the trick for Subaru..Doesnt motivate to own one.

Subaru owners aren't into styling . Too sophisticated for that. Styles come and go. Remember how stylish Ford Taurus was. Subarus are today what Volvo and Volkswagen were in the 60's.

Unless you grew up on the North or South Shore, you likely won’t have a Boston accent, especially if you’re from the suburbs west of Boston.

I’m most likely getting one! I’m not a big engine guy but do you mind that the engine is as powerful?
