I had my Basset Hound Daisy for 13.5 years and she was my soul. Daisy spoke/barked four words: No! to Huskys and baths, Help! if she was left at home without a treat, Hurry! if she needed to go out to do her business and Mom! to get my attention. Daisy helped me to make friends when we moved, and was a much better judge of people's character than I have ever been. I look forward to getting another Bassethound in the future. My life is not complete without a Bassethound. Bassethounds are the BEST❣❤

The.Best.Dog. Stubborn, yes, but that's just their style. Chill with them. They'll give you loads of love.

I know I am hopelessly in love with my basset, Droopy. He's lazy, lovable, and easy to keep track of.

We had a Basset when I was a teen. He was a Basset's Basset in many ways--as goofy as the breed is considered by many, but as loyal and friendly and hard-headed and entertaining, as well. I now have two Bassets, four months apart in age, and they've been buddies since they first saw each other. They are an enthusiastic greeting party when ANYONE comes to the house, they love to meet other dogs (and people), and have been wonderful pets.

Learned the hard way they can reach the kitchen counter. Tallest short dog ever!

That's right Mike don't let those little legs fool you. My Basset stole a whole roast chicken off our kitchen counter and dragged it into the back yard. She was like a ninja! I was only gone a few seconds.

You know your stuff. Good presentation of the Basset. The only thing I wish more people knew is that they are bred for long hunts and benefit from tons of exercise. Just as with humans they remain fit until old age if they get their regular running time.

Worth the stink! The only thing I hate is…. My brand new car is always trashed! No really, it’s my favorite breed. Awesome laid back dog who is quite popular w everyone she meets.

Got my boy hank literally days before the covid pandemic shut everything down and he’s basically my son. He’s a stubborn one but he’s a handsome, sweet boy. I got a second basset last year and he’s a good boy too.. I’m trying to convince my wife about getting a 3rd but we’ll see hehe

We just got an 8 month old Basset from a breeder and she wasn’t trained at all. She’s very distracted at all sounds and very shy and scared and if she’s distracted she won’t eat . So having difficulty in getting her on a schedule to eat at all ? What can we do?

Your neighbors might need space though . Apt dogs i wouldn't recommend as they do like to bay loud and long .

I have had Basset Hounds for almost 25 years and would not have anything else, but they are NOT easily trained. If they do not want to do something they will not (trust me ask people who have had one) Basset puppies are often rehomed because they can be such hard work. Walking a Basset can be a nightmare if you want to go somewhere that they do not, good luck and they stop constantly to sniff. I take my boys out for at least 2 hours (often 3) and they love to sniff about and they love company. Do not get a Bassett if you will be at work all day they are hounds and need to have company. They are also NOT SMALL DOGS they are BIG DOGS with small legs. Please look at other guides about Bassets i am not sure this woman has even seen one.
