I recently did a clean install of Windows 11 and went into it with an open mind after being pretty against the idea of getting it up until that point, and frankly had no interest in it. It was nothing but frustrations, and compromises for me. In my opinion, an OS upgrade should be an improvement of experience overall, and there was pretty much no improvements for how I use my computer aside from minor things like the new Snipping tool and the dark mode implementation on apps like Notepad (I actually prefer the classic Notepad, though). I'll also say that there are elements of the UI that I think look nice, such as the icons and the rounded windows, so I'll give it that, but I genuinely feel that Windows 11 ran less smoothly than Windows 10 always has for me. I don't really have any way to prove this, but I notice very minor things when there's little bits of lag or performance dips or whatever. Maybe it's just my PC, I don't know, but it's only 2 years old. If it weren't for third-party software to "fix" the taskbar, the Windows 11 vanilla taskbar is objectively a downgrade in every way. I don't see how anyone could like it personally. Microsoft took away such basic options that have always been part of Windows since Windows 95 (i.e. showing labels which is something I just don't want to give up), and I find that very hard to just accept as an "upgrade". When I came back to 10 it felt such a huge relief because things just looked good, and worked well again. If Windows 10 were to disappear tomorrow, forcing me back to 11, I can say that I'd definitely be okay with it and adapt because third-party software exists to improve the experience, but after giving it a fair chance, it's just not for me right now. Going back to 10 felt like such a substantial upgrade, and I found it funny that Windows 11 lets you install Windows 10 without saying a message like "You already have a newer version of Windows" like it used to do.
@DeadPixel11052 жыл бұрын
The performance issues with Windows 11 aren't just you. And you don't need to prove it. This has been heavily documented. 1: it's an operating system, not a theme park. 2: it's more consistent, but less practical. One example: connecting to a VPN is 2 clicks in W10 and 5 in 11 3: once again I beg to differ. The new taskbar is harder to use, when you have several windows open it involves more clicks to get to the window you want to. The start menu is just a disaster, at this point it's easier to just use a CLI to launch an application One counterpoint why I had briefly considered upgrading: gWSL, the ability to run graphical Linux applications. However this was introduced back in Win 10 in the betas, so not a technological difference, just MS trying to make people change.

Before anyone switches over to windows 11 for its features, I feel it's very important to point out that windows 11 takes the "Microsoft wants to know everything about you" problem much farther than windows 10. An Ordinary Gamer made an amazing video on this issue from what I remember. If you enjoy the limited privacy you still have on windows 10, do not switch to 11.

But man, after watching this video I am ALMOST got convinced to upgrade to Windows 11, until I realise how unfun Windows 11 is with the missing of usable right click menu, imo worse start menu (it is a freaking APP!) , less customisation, less feature in Control Panel and Settings, among other reasons.

If you're hellbent on sticking to windows 10 for as long as possible (I've moved on to Linux Mint Cinnamon July 28 2020 and couldn't be happier)..you have the option to put whatever you want dead center ish using a "toolbar folder"> Right click taskbar...unlock it. Create a folder anywhere you want. Then paste or left click drag into that folder any thing you want including separate folders such pictures, documents, etc). Go back to taskbar right click it..move mouse to the arrow over on " New " and you'll see selection show up talking about "create toolbar.folder". When you select that, you can navigate to where that folder is you created that you put whatever you wanted into it.. when you select it and hit ok. ... Then left click on the tiny three vertical dots on the far right hand area of the taskbar.sns hold drag it left..until you have them where you want...you'll see the text and icons of the stuff you added in the folder show up. You can also right click any empty area near those items and untick the " text" and title " to only show the icons although when you mouse over each item....you can still get the pop of what that item was named as. I've done this since the xp days and always have put all the stuff I want one click access to as a centered deal and love it

My problems with Windows 11 is it sacrifices potential and freedom for simplicity and looks. Outside of security and future support, I currently don’t see a reason to upgrade to 11, which is not too much better and actually may be worse in some aspects. For people who take gaming seriously, I heard that 11 reduces performance and while that may not (always) be the case, I don’t see 11 itself making gaming better than 10. I also don’t like how MS is forcing us to make MS accounts just to operate our own computer with 11. At this current time, there is no legitimate way to make a local/offline account and MS is even going as far as to try to patch the bypasses to workarounds with people who don’t want to make a MS account. So you have to let MS take your data and if you’re not connected to the internet, there’s going to come a time where you won’t be able to use your computer period. Overall, I don’t recommend 11. The extra security is nice, but it’s not worth sacrificing my freedom, data, and lack of reason to upgrade to 11 when 10 is just as good if not better as far as usability is concerned. I genuinely hope a future update or even Windows 12 will make this comment of mine redundant in the future, but for now that’s my view.
@zurkke2 жыл бұрын
There's no extra security whatsoever, just Microsoft doing Microsoft things at scaring you to use their latest services. And yes, performance is worse, I saw visible difference not only in that, but also higher temps, bigger RAM usage by useless processes and services in the background, etc. I gave up and went back to 10, LTSC version. After its support runs out, I'll just move to Linux.

I upgraded to Windows 11 on launch day (Oct. 5th, 2021) for whatever reason and there were tons of bugs, as probably the most common one, was the audio not working. I had to use a tutorial just to fix it. Lots of bugs. One thing I hated the most was the stripped features. Like not being able to drag a file into a certain program and stuff like that. I used this feature the most in Windows 10 and was disappointed when I found out it was gone in Windows 11. If you didn't know, there was this feature in File Explorer that allowed you to move files with the click of a button, labeled "Move to". It was really convenient and quick and I used it a lot. This isn't a completely negative comment however as I've grown to like Windows 11 as the months went by (Since the bugs were fixed over time) I still don't like the fact that some features were removed that were really convenient but still, It's a decent OS and I have it installed on my main computer and laptop.

I personally probably won't be upgrading because I prefer the look of 10. I tried it but 10 feels more snappy and quick. The file explorer doesn't really bother me, I have the ribbon hidden and just use keyboard shortcuts like F2 to rename, Del to delete, ctrl+c/ctrl+v for copy paste. The animations also feel slow compared to 10, while it adds fluidity to the OS I prefer the animations on 10 because they're quick yet fluid enough like maximizing windows and the start menu opening. Task View in my opinion isn't that great of an upgrade, as I just disabled the activity history/timeline and now it's just a clean simple window overview mode with the multiple desktops at the top. I also don't like the new control center thing, i prefer the dedicated icons for volume, network, etc. Honestly I might switch to Linux after Windows 10 support ends unless if I like Windows 12, but that would have to come out before I switch to Linux. Maybe I might go the KVM virtual machine route if I really need Windows on Linux.

According to the User Interface (UI), Windows 11 is more Superior because it's more Fluent and Modern/Minimalist Design. Also more Fresh than Windows 10, because a lot of Legacy Apps are Redesigned. But, according to the User Experience (UX), Windows 10 is still the Superior. WHY? Because : - First, in Windows 11 we can't move a Taskbar into the Top, Left, and Right, only at the Bottom even though we can aligned Taskbar to the Left or in the Middle as a Default. If we Right clicked on Taskbar, it only appears a "Taskbar Settings". - Second, we can't do a Drag and Drop in Windows 11 RTM, we only can press a ALT + Tab key. But, on Version 22H2, this Feature will coming back so we can doing Drag and Drop Files/Folders. - Third, Windows 11 are more complicated. Because if we're doing a Right clicked we must click a "Show more options" either on Desktop or in File Explorer. On Windows 11, if we're want to open a Current Files in an App (eg. Word, Excel, VS Code, etc.), we must go to All Aps and Right Click or we must open an App first, then Right clicked. - In Windows 11, there isn't have a Seconds, only a Hour and Minutes that has been moved to a Widget with a 12-Hour Time Format (AM/PM). So, we doesn't know now how much seconds. Calendar in Windows 11 are DIFFERENT with Calendar in Windows 10. In Windows 10, we may know the Events on Calendar. But, in Windows 11, we must open a Calendar App if we want to know an Events on Calendar.
