As a person with severe hearing loss and having to use headphones to interact with Windows, I have to thank you for presenting the differences in the Windows 11 sounds between light and dark mode, as well as comparing them to Windows 10. Most people would probably hear a negligible difference, but for someone like me, the dark mode sounds are virtually impossible to distinguish. I love using dark mode in Windows 10, and in fact the Windows 10 sounds in your comparison test were the most clear of all three to me. However, it looks like I will be having to stick with light mode when I upgrade to Windows 11 just to hear the stupid sounds! It sort of sucks that Microsoft doesn't accommodate people with hearing difficulties by simply keeping all volumes equal. Quite a bizarre feature, actually. Having said that, you really need to speak a bit slower and clearer. I had to slow the video down to 75% just to understand you. I needed the CC captions too. Other people have commented on this too, so just a heads up 🙂 You must have been excited to spread the news 😆 Thanks again anyway 🙏

I spent years using windows 8.1. Windows 10 felt like a game changer. That Start Menu was the best one Windows had. It's the best suited for productivity so far. I hated the tiles of v8.1 but to combine them in the start menu is genius. Had to buy a new laptop which came with Windows 11. It's aesthetically nicer (although they really need to get rid of yellow folders and give an option to change folder colours once and for all to any colour of the spectrum we choose). The big problem is this start menu. I almost don't need to have one. Why did they downgrade the v10 start menu????

If I recall, the stated plan was that they were switching models from paid OS's to the free upgrade model, which they're doing here. The idea was that if you did upgrade to 10 back then all the future upgrades were also offered, but not if you had stuck with 8, I believe. It's been a while, so I might not have the details, but I don't believe they never said they weren't going to do another number, basically.

Doesn't make any sense to remove features some users have become accustomed to. Just have a new default with the option to change back to previous options for those who don't want the new way. Seems like MS is constantly trying to force users to behave the way they want them to, instead of providing the most customisable platform for a user to do things the way THEY wish to. It's surprising there is still no windows clone that does things the way every normal person agrees it they should be done (and/or gives multiple options) rather than us all being bullied into doing things a certain way just for proper compaitibility.

As someone who had a big, old, rather-budget laptop carry me through school and run Windows 10 for a good portion of it, getting a small, sleeker laptop with Windows 11 running natively was a welcome experience in my case. Sure, minor inconveniences such as having use the "show more options" button when right clicking in file explorer and the more limited customization of the task bar could be considered drawbacks, but the streamlined experience provided by 11's commitment to thematic congruency and more elegant control scheme make general use so much more pleasant. Windows 10 really felt clunky for me, which made day-to-day use that much less appealing by comparison, and its inconsistent look was pretty headache-inducing looking back. I have to give it to 11: I didn't think the aesthetics of the UI would affect my mood while using the OS as much as it did. While I never wanted to use macOS as I really hated its feel, there's no denying that it was leagues above windows 10's interface visually. Windows 11 feels like it gives me the user-friendliness macOS has whilst still being good ol' Windows. More hands-on users who wouldn't categorize themselves as the "average consumer" might feel differently, however.
@katerynaivzhenko6716
@katerynaivzhenko6716 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's your experience. It's totally valid, don't get me wrong, and I'm happy you are now more comfortable. On the other side, I have a custom built gaming computer that I use for a lot of personal projects, and Windows 10 was and still is amazing - I use all of the features of the start menu, taskbar, the layout. I really appreciate the style, too, looks sleek (not sure where you got the inconsistency from, but that could be just the theme you used). The new one is an obvious mimic of Mac`s to me, and I choose Windows deliberately, I have no love for their style. It has too many moving parts, every animation seems exaggerated, the icons are unbelievably colorful. I agree with you on the point that aesthetics matter a lot, as well as the general fit and layout of the system. I just appreciate Windows being Windows in aesthetics, too, not only functionality.

@@katerynaivzhenko6716 I’m pretty sure the inconsistency he talked about is how Windows 10s “modern new look” is just one layer deep and the second you go into any menu you’re right back in W7. @IAyouuub 3 жыл бұрын
@@drixxer I liked the live tiles in the start menu, it was giving a chic look to the apps, they were dynamics not like this. Also the ability to resize them and put them wherever you want. Also open apps in the taskbar, I don't know the name of the setting tbh but, in windows 10 we had the choice to show the title of opened windows in the taskbar or to only show icon, I used to show the title it helps when I'm opening a lot of tabs in chrome to know in advance what tab I'm working on, or what folder I'm exactly opening in file explorer. I also hate how big is this new taskbar, I was even enabling small icons in windows 10, it was giving me more space. Now it isn't available anymore. Furthermore, they made the taskbar bigger, it takes a lot of the screen and I don't like to hide it automatically as I sometimes can't make it appear even if I hold on it. Another removed ability is to arrange the icons in the bottom right, I used to sort them in a preferable order. Now they're fixed. Last, It really upsets me that they removed those lock screen quick status, I was enabling weather, "to do" app, email and more. now there is only one app to choose from, they even removed some apps from the list like the "to do" app, I can't find it. I think that's what I miss a lot, I forgot to mention that I also don't like the new choice of options that appear when you right-click, it's not a customization feature but yeah, they added an option to show the previous list of options in windows 10, that are the most used ones to me, which means an additional click to find what I want.

Yeah, the big one for me is not being able to move the taskbar from the bottom. I've been using a little program called Buttery Taskbar that makes taskbar hiding way more functional, it makes the taskbar never show up until you hit the windows key, no more accidentally moving the mouse over it. By docking the taskbar sideways you're giving yourself more vertical screen space, which is what you need for most tasks, with Buttery Taskbar you reclaim whatever screen space the taskbar was taking up and learn to actually use keyboard shortcuts. So regardless of how pretty 11 looks, I'll feel like I'm losing a lot of productivity.

This really feels like Microsoft just tried to make it newbie friendly without any thought for long time users. Like other comments are saying, it feels like it was dumbed down for something like a tablet, and so many simple and useful features got removed. Being able to drag files directly into the manager is such a simple addition but for whatever reason it's not a thing, and something even so simple as the exact time on the calendar was removed. Customizability overall looks like it took a hit with this update.

Thanks for the comparison, it was quite insightful. I'm a bit disappointed that much of the customizability Windows 10 had was removed. Being able to group apps in the start menu for instance was a great organizational feature to keep things from cluttering. While I understand the desire to keep things simple for users by default, I wish there were more advanced options for people who want to customize their experience. This is especially ironic considering how Microsoft marketed their OS initially, as feeling like home. If I wasn't allowed to change anything in my own house, it might be someone's home, but it certainly isn't mine. I do like Windows 11 aesthetically though, and maybe they can improve, or maybe this'll just be the traditional bad OS that constitutes every other release Microsoft does. Let's see.

I need to see what my network is actually doing.

It's about "creativity". Microsoft is very creative in making a broken Windows after a good working one, and making move from one version to the next seem like going to a completely different operating system, wasting AT LEAST a few weeks of each individual's time on learning the new system. And they dare promote Windows with the word PRODUCTIVITY! How can you be productive if you have to keep upgrading to a drastically changed operating system where you are taken back to baby steps!? From the first version of Windows until Windows 2000, Microsoft has been making welcome and useful improvements. Windows 2000 had the perfect balance of features, speed and stability, everything that was needed, nothing that was not needed. I thought that MS finally got it right and made a perfect OS, now they just need to keep issuing Service Packs. Win XP proved me wrong, they changed a lot of stuff, started making Windows "look cool" but made it slower and less professional. Vista made it even more obvious that Windows was just getting worse, which MS sort of fixed with Windows 7, but then went back to making an even bigger OS disaster with Windows 8. When Windows 10 came out, I was not excited at all, and used it only because it came pre-installed on my laptop, but dreaded it every day. Their offer of "free upgrade to Windows 10" made me even more suspicious because Microsoft is just not known for giving such a large piece of software as an OS for free, and I was certain it was because they were planning to use it as an advertising and selling platform. I have never felt in control with Windows 10, it was as if MS owned my computer and decided what, when and how often to do on it, rather than me, the owner, which is especially true for forced updates and the built-in anti-virus (I never succeeded and getting some of my files back out of the quarantine, and I was a computer technician, for crying out loud). I don't even want to waste a second of my time on Windows 10 and any of the subsequent versions of Windows, as it is clear that Microsoft has lost its senses a long time ago, and decided to make a profit-driven corporate-cloud-controlled OS instead of a solid performing easily used completely independent working machine OS. I am sticking with Windows 7 for now, and looking for a user-friendly alternative aimed at serving the user and not the blind and deaf infinite greed of the company that built it. P.S.: Sorry for the rant, never planned to make it this long. 😀

Like I said, they have completely pushed me away with Windows 10, and I don't want to keep finding out how else did they mess up with subsequent versions. They have messed up too much and too many times to make me ever want to come back. Even if they DID make a much better OS than 10 (and based on basically the same look and the focus of this ad on the looks, it is clear to me it's the same crap with mostly cosmetic changes), based on their pattern for 20 years now they will reduce the rubble with the next crap version.

windows 10 seemed perfect to me from a design point of view, their logo was great (rotated square), and changing the color of windows (using personalization) seemed like a great solution, all this is missing in windows 11. Especially frustrating is the new start panel and the panel at the top of Explorer. Very inconvenient settings, now everything is in some unnecessary drop-down menus, and if you want to change, for example, the playback device, you need to go to the settings, when in win 10 you could just click on the sound icon and change everything there. However, there are a number of advantages. For example, window animations and their rounding parameter. The new taskbar looks much better. In general, it seems that windows 11 needs to be refined and refined, I hope it won't come to windows 11.1 if you understand what I mean.

And every time you buy their products you are saying they should scam more people with their shovelware licenses. Linux is free. It doesn't require scamming people, because it's a complete product made for the people, by the people. None of that corporatist ''we want your money'' crap.

I'd like Windows to stop allowing programs to open their windows on monitors other than those connected to my PC.

Hahah exactly my thoughts man. Windows 11 feels like an overall downgrade to Windows 10.

5:52 CORRECTION! In sounds, there is an option to enable the startup sound(the one from windows Vista/7), which is perfect for my Windows 7 theme(I know it's similar to vista but I grew up with a Windows 7... Enterprise computer(don't ask me how I got enterprise))

I actually installed windows 11 just to try it out and see how it is. and to be honest I didn't really like it at all. Ended up having to revert back to windows 10 and am glad I did. Windows 10 just seems alot better and more simple and well detailed.
