I love African Grey Parrots, it's a species that I have dreamed of kipping since my childhood, they are beautiful and majestic but they are not for everyone. I give my 5 reasons why not to buy and African grey.

these babies need so much time and patience. my uncle had an african grey he absolutely adored and when he passed, we decided to take him so he could stay with the family. the first 6 months or so were a nightmare, screeching, biting and just aggressive behavior. but understandably so, he loved my uncle and my uncle alone. he's gotten a lot better now with constant positive interactions but dang its been tough.

It really is no joke! Thanks for sharing your story, that’s part of the reason nobody wants to take in a rescue African Grey. Their bond is incredibly strong. They are astonishing birds and extremely loyal.

Good for you for putting out the pros and cons of having these exotic birds. People don't do enough research before buying certain animal or birds, they just see the funny videos. It can result in cruelty or abandonment. Well done on a very informative video.

I appreciate the comment, I did forget to mention that I hand raised “majo” from a baby chick, maybe I’ll keep making videos. Thank you for supporting the channel, and the ideas 💡

Thank you for being so honest and humble about getting these beautiful birds. I am not a bird owner but I do watch a lot of videos, what I notice is all these videos of them talking and being cute results in impulsive buying behavior without REALLY understanding the commitment. And as you said they are very emotional animals, how sad it is to see so many exotic birds abandoned because “they aren’t just cute talking birds” they require work, a lot of work and attention. Just imagine having a toddler for the rest of your life! So thank you ❤

I appreciate your comment. Didn’t expect the video to get this amount of attention. This is coming from someone who really didn’t do a lot of research before buying (im not completely ignorant about animals though) i don’t regret it one bit, but i could see where a lot of people give up on these species! You are absolutely right and that’s a great way to put it, it’s like having a toddler that will never fully grow up for the rest of your life. ❤️

There are so many of them and bird rescues here in the USA it's sad because they do bond with one person and it's very rough for homeing them

Having to rehome a bonded bird is very difficult! Unfortunately birds believe it will never be better, it’s really sad :(

I'm not sure about all of this, I had my greys since I was young and they've always been comfortable with both me, my father (head of household), and to some extent the rest of my family. Obviously, each individual case can be different, and these pets are definitely "harder to keep" than cats and dogs, or even smaller birds; but I think if you treat them right and provide them with companionship (I think another companion bird is almost necessary), and fun, they make great pets.

Spain is huge on breeding birds, for some odd reason you don’t need permits for Falconry and other sports including bird of prey or even to keep exotics. Talking with breeders, it was a general consensus that African greys compared to other parrots are a certain way that might be less appealing. Don’t get me wrong, we love our grey, this has just been my experience with majo my bird. I had no prior bird experience. Thanks for sharing your thoughts 💭 :)

The right way for 99.99% of humans to enjoy these birds is at the zoo, visiting them in their natural habitat, or through video and pictures. It's not fair to the birds to get them if you can't take care of them properly.
@Angry_Hogs
@Angry_Hogs 4 ай бұрын
Yea of course I totally agree. Theres nothing like seeing them in their natural habitat. And yes its like that with every animal its not fair to them if you don’t have the time for them.

@@Angry_Hogs Conservation for wild birds is so important. Your bird seems healthy, strongly bonded to you, but not overly hormonally stressed. Congrats on that!

you put a mexican accent on latin? that sounded so stupid
@Angry_Hogs
@Angry_Hogs 4 ай бұрын
“Mexican” accent derives from Latin, therefore; most latin based languages will say the scientific name better than non latin based languages. In my opinion.
