I agree with everything you said. I relax every 6-8 weeks, blow dry and straighten once a week. It’s been a year since I trimmed my hair and my stylist said my hair is healthy. Every one’s hair is different. My friend has to stretch for up to 16 weeks.

Thank you for dispelling the myth about stretching relaxers. I often wondered why people stretched so long and then complain when their hair is having trouble. And thank you for clarifying the trimming process... I appreciate your thoughts on the appearance of thickness with blunt cuts versus healthier hair that may not be even. Much appreciated!

Sometimes depending on how the style is put in the hair can break. Some stylist braid or twist so tight you can’t move your eyebrows 😂
@IannaYvonne3 жыл бұрын
OMG I literally laughed out loud. That was me at my last sew-in. I remember thinking this lady is giving me a mini face lift 😂 It’s true protective styles can cause hair Thinning due to tension. And as relaxed women we are more prone to getting traction alopecia. However, by its nature, protective styles protect your ends and should NOT cause breakage. As you said If there is breakage that is either stylist error or take down error. But done properly protective style should not break the hair. Thanks for pointing that out. And of course for watching 💕

I am down to two relaxers a year per my tricologist and dermatologist but I also have very manageable new growth that is fine and wavy. I do not use protective styles but I also do very little hair manipulation when I do not have to. I trim when I relax unless their is breakage so twice a year. Yeah the blunt and even ends myth is ridiculous, my hair is so many different lengths because the back/middle grows way slower and the right/front is speedy gonzalez! I have a good protein/moisture schedule and I wash every two weeks unless there is a problem. For me length and health can co-exist!

The synethic hair dries my hair out so much...my hair doesn't do well with the synethic fibers..it can act like fiber glass for some hair types. My hair does better with protective styles using my own hair. Love your channel/ videos. 💯

Ok I have tried different hair relaxers like olive oil, motions,optimum,dark and lovely,tbc if you have a sensitive scalp what can you use to not have breakage and dry scalp and flaky hair what can you do or what can use to not have these problems with your scalp and if you get or have chemical burn what is. The best thing to do to make sure that you are use the right thing and make sure that you don't have these problems with your hair

I just love your perspective to healthy hair.....I have been stretching me relaxer for about 5 months but its so thin. Looking back to when I used to perm my hair every 8 weeks, my hair was so healthy. I just don't get it. I think am going to go back to basic girl.

Hi. This video is really interesting. I always stretch my relaxers to 6 months and that works great for me. I'm still new when it comes to moisturizing my hair and protein treat. For a few months now everytime I was my hair(once a month), I use shampoo, hair mayonnaise and conditioner, that seems to work well. I moisturize my hair about 2 to 3 times a week and then put on a protective style which usually lasts 4 to 6 weeks. But since January I've notice that my hair is still stuck at the same length and the last time I washed it, there seem to be alot of breakage, or hair falling in the floor while I comb it. Don't know what to do

Hello. Thank you for watching 💕 How often do you apply heat? Are you manipulating and styling often? You seem to have your protein/ moisture balance down but you may need to do some adjusting. It’s so frustrating when we have our routine and then suddenly it’s no longer working and it’s back to square one.
@esmeraldapindi75783 жыл бұрын
@@IannaYvonne I only use heat every six month when I relax. Usually I keep my hair in protective styles that usually lasts 4 to 6 weeks. I do my own protective style so it's done correctly

Do you add hair when you put in protective style?
@IannaYvonne3 жыл бұрын
Hello. Thanks for watching 💕yes I add hair with my protective styles
@marlak42033 жыл бұрын
Now it needs to be pointed out that protective styles DO include wearing your own hair. No sytnth hair added in any way. Some styles are buns, updos, medium or mini braids or twists of your own hair. Cornrows, etc. Some will say ANY hairstyle that you wear that keeps the ends away from exposure. This also includes hats and scarves. You can grow your hair while the ends are out. To do that you wear your hair in updos and high ponytails. If your hair is down and straight you make sure your ends are well moistened. Some used to wear satin or silk scarves on their shoulders to protect the hair from rubbing on other hair breaking material clothing they wear. So there's actually a VARIETY of ways to do your hair.

Hi Ianna, I'm in the process of taking down a protective style that I've had in for 3 months, and I'm going to use a leave-in conditioner to detangle my new growth. I was wondering if it will be okay for me to put a relaxer in while I have the leave in conditioner in my hair? Or should I wash my hair, dry it, and then put in the relaxer?
@IannaYvonne3 жыл бұрын
Hello! When I take down my protective style I usually use a buildup remover (leave in conditioner works) to break down that buildup and gentle detangle and comb away all that hair I shed while my hair was in the protective style. I do not wash. I usually give my scalp a day or two in between to rest after the manipulation. Then I relax, wash and condition as normal. I do not think the relaxer will take as well with the leave in still on your new growth. If you do plan to relax the same day as your takedown I would dry first. Then relax.

@@MissBlossem u got relaxed hair too ? And where can I get dat to buy or purchase ?
@MissBlossem3 жыл бұрын
Yes, my hair is relaxed! I bought it at a local luxury hair salon. I live on a small Caribbean island, so I can't tell you where you can find it in your home country...its expensive, but sooo worth it. Just follow the instructions on the bottle. I let it in for 40 minutes in stead of the recommended 20 minutes. I use it every week before washing my hair. Too much new growth can also lead to shedding and breakage. I relax my hair every 12 weeks. After 7 weeks I put my hair in a protective style (braids). That also helps to combat the shedding. Furthermore I do the following:I deep condition every time after I wash my hair. I let my hair air dry in stead of using a blow drier to minimize heat. I have a flat iron with a celsius degrees 'remote' (dont know the word in English) I always put the flat iron on a very low temperature (to the point where I can touch the iron -shortly- without burning my hands) for max once a week. The other days I roller set my hair. I do my best to drink enough water and eat healthy. I protect my hair against the sun!! If you live in a country with a hot climate like a country in the carribbean or a desert country PLEASE protect your hair against the sun during the day light hours. Wear a silk or satin scarf or a hat and make sure all your strands are covered. Every. Single Time. The burning Caribbean sun is my hairs worst enemy! Last but definitely not least: eliminate stress. Worry and depression is a great treat to hair. Make enough time to rest and relax and worry less.
