In the first missing person case of Mike, my money is on the man who should have gone with him. The police knew he was living the high life, checking the job he had, he really could not afford it. So my money is on importing drugs. His disappearance is most probably down to greed over the drug imports by the man who did not go with him.

i suspect the same, i thought perhaps they were going to organise a buy and smuggling operation possibly using mules as that may explain mike looking for someone at the airport at a later date. perhaps things got messed up and Mike lost somebody a lot of money, perhaps he was set up by the guy who was supposed to go to thailand with him and mike was his scapegoat.

Amazed to hear you examining a case so local to me here in Cornwall, so I thank you! As for pronunciations though.. St. Austell is pronounced with a short 'el' sound, despite the spelling and Newquay is pronounced New-key. Again, thank you so much for covering Chad Gibson's case. The pub he disappeared from, The Central is named as such because it is very much the heart of the local night-life area. There are many homes in this area too, and I've always maintained that had there had been a fight or loud altercation, the police would have been called or someone would definitely have heard. Locals are careful not to annoy the residents. That leads me to believe that he left the downtown area with someone willingly, and either left Cornwall of his own accord, or he was well out of town before anything bad happened. He was a big tall guy, so I just doubt he was forced to go anywhere. I believe he left with people he knew. I just hope that someone gives his family some peace soon. If you know anything please contact Devon and Cornwall Police.

We need to start with the fact that the way many place names in the UK are pronounced is deranged. With the exception of the US East Coast, where many cities were named after British place names by colonists, Anglophone settlers often opted for descriptive names (like Grand Rapids, MI) or surnames (like Houston, TX), or non-English place names that existed prior (Los Angeles, CA). So this guy may be from somewhere other than the East Coast. But even some British pronunciations differ from the American versions. For example, Leominster, MA is "Leminster," which is probably closer to the original than pronunciation than the "Lemster" for Leominster, Herefordshire. Worcester, Gloucester, Leicester, etc, are clearly not pronounced how they were when the spelling was standardized and it's basically because of illiterate people speaking lazily over centuries that it has so evolved. Because Anglo-American settlers mostly ditched such charmingly quaint/odd unphonetic names in favor more practical ones as they forged west, many Americans arent used to some of those names. So making fun of Yanks for it isn't the flex you think it is, it really just highlights how strange/quaint many of your place-names are.

In regards to the Steve Mackerel story/case, here's my theory... The people he was arguing with were local to the area and were aware that he wasn't so familiar, they've had a disagreement at the store, then Steve has given chase in the car and they've led him to water; with them bringing their car to a halt whilst Steve was driving too fast to react in time, in turn ending up in the water. I just think it's too coincidental that he argued with someone and disappeared/ got in an accident within the same night. They have to be involved in some way.

Cases with whole cars missing should have water ways looked at in the routes the cars were known to travel. Many channels here on KZbin do just that to help locate missing loved ones. Stephen may have been ran off the road by the men he threw the can at and he ended um in a river or body of water

the case of "clair" in bristol, police didnt suspect foul play until much later despite her usually active social media going silent, her bank accounts not being used and her not communicating with friends and family all after one particular night? shockingly poor police work there, its blatantly obvious something was very wrong. also i think it unlikely a young woman going to a bar for over two hours leaving at closing time was alone the entire time, i think it highly likely she met up with someone. sounds like the cops have their man though after a second interview and arrest 2nd time around.
