Preston is definitely the prime suspect for good reason in Gretchen's dissapearence. I do believe in 'innocent until proven guilty' but the stories about him that have come to light, as well as his inconsistent statements, and then afterwards clamming up and not cooperating with police whatsoever raise far too many red flags. Being a retired police officer, he would know how investigations go and how to cover his tracks. And I hate to say this, but the fact that he's a retired police officer makes me wonder if other police aren't doing proper detective work because of this.
@isabellaangeline2175
@isabellaangeline2175 Жыл бұрын
If he is guilty (which, imo, he absolutely is) then you can definitely count on his ex-fellow officers to cover for him. It’s no secret that this is what they mean when they talk about the “thin blue line.” It’s why they push out and harass those who are moral enough to actually report their coworkers who they’ve witnessed breaking the law.

@@isabellaangeline2175 That IS exactly what police do, push out & harass the moral cops. Or not even hire them. I've known police departments that've hired wife abusers all because the wife never pressed charges. .......................................... A personal story my father decades ago sued one of the state police for their harassing conduct & won. He also had a reputation, having worked for the federal government, as a "whistle blower". .... My brother has tried in FIVE different states to become a police officer. He has NO criminal record, he has a VALOUR award, he served in the military, etc. VERY upstanding individual. ........... And yet my brother's NEVER been able to become a cop. And that's not even his behavior, that's based on his father's reputation - we've a very uncommon surname so the connection is easy - of been a no-nonsense whistle blower who'll fight for what's right.

@@AshleyBates-lm6vb reminds me of a video I saw a few months ago of a Sargent screaming at a handcuffed suspect and then choking him and a lower rank female officer went over and pulled him away while these other officers that were men towered over her stood by and did nothing. The Sargent then puts his hand on her throat threatening her. Thank god he was fired for it, but seeing half a dozen other veteran officers standing back doing nothing was so disgusting

So many serious crimes take place through Nightclubs/Bars/Tavern/Pubs but none of them ever seem to have any indoor CCTV were these lounge lizards stalk prey, drug victims, etc., Why no law requiring such? @dannygolp7667 on top of that families will typically blame anything but their precious innocent baby. Unless of course the family couldn't give a shit to begin with. But with this girl it seems like they just didn't want to believe she would make bad choices. Obviously not trying to be unsympathetic, it's really sad what happened to her and I wish someone could have helped her, but to blame everyone else but her decision to get involved with them and ignore her part in it is just turning a blind eye to the real problem. That's why most people don't even tell their families to begin with.

Think it's really important and necessary to add here no little girl is sitting in kindy dreaming of being a 'sex worker'. It always surprises me the value put on a person because they have living family or talents. As far as I see it ALL 's workers' had a dream were headed somewhere and were also victims of circumstances not just a few solitary cases. All those victims were baby's held in the arms of a parent at some point it's from there the true story begins.

No one in kindergarten maybe but honestly a lot of teens and young adults want to do it because its an easy thing to make money off of, and some people just really like to have sex and figure why not make money off it? It's important to note also that sex work would be much safer for all if it were legal, regulated, and sex workers had ANY recourse against abuse without being arrested for doing their job. You can't think of everyone as babies that were once held, because they aren't anymore. She was an adult and sure, maybe being a sex worker wasn't her 'dream job' and maybe she did it to fund her drug habit, but that doesn't mean that applies to ALL sex workers. Believe it or not some people just do it because they want to. Not saying everyone, but not everyone does it because they HAVE to for whatever reason of circumstances.

@@chumon1992 it's an easy concept not an easy job. Even in a legal setting it can be very problematic, although legal, regulatory and safe sw practice is the key to giving a voice and way out for human trafficking and a way of seperating those who do not truly want to be there. Yes there are also a lot of people I believe who are mentally and physically prepared for that kind of work but even they agree the abuse and degrading treatment of others takes the sexy right out of the situation.
@chumon1992
@chumon1992 Жыл бұрын
@rebeccafree9755 you are correct, however I firmly believe that, as you say, if it were legal then a lot of that problematic and abusive behavior would be nullified. Degradation is always going to be part of it in some way unfortunately some have that as a kink, and some will always look down on sex workers, regardless of how legal and normalized it is. However if it were legal and a protected job you would have far more control over who you chose for clients and as I said actual legal recourse for abuse. Pimps who get their workers hooked on drugs to keep them working unreasonable amounts would also be nullified. Or at least severely brought down to a minimum. It may not be as easy as some people think, but I dare say that if it were legal then it would be far easier than a lot of jobs that are even considered entry level jobs. I'm sure it would also depend on the area in which you lived like anything else.

@@chumon1992 I live in a country were it's legal in areas and there are times and places for it. I've seen it cut out a lot of negative notions pushed towards sw. Pimps aren't needed, but sw in general can seek police and legal standing in some manner. It also does mean if you are experiencing being put in that situation not of your own want or know of dirty practice you can go to the police and it won't be ignored, there are also organisations in place to help.

The title of this video is a bit off, since most of these people are not, in fact, “missing”. This should have been spotted by the editor. If you don’t have an editor, please send me a message and I would be happy to help. I do editing for several KZbin true crime channels.

Yes you are right. Some are deceased. I hadn’t put that together. I’ve noticed other errors the creator has made in some videos. In this one he says Gretchen Fleming was last seen in Dec. 2022 and is still missing less than 2 years later. It hasn’t even been two months. So he should correct that.

@@notkingatlas right, usually channels like these have an editor or “quality check” before starting production on the actual video. It’s very easy for the script writer to get a date or a fact wrong when writing a long script. It should go through numerous people before it hits KZbin to avoid these simple mistakes. This is a pretty popular channel, so I’m a bit surprised that they don’t have these quality checks in place. I’m here to help if you’d like!

In the case of the woman from West Virginia, the suspect, an ex cop, if his behavior was questionable before Gretchen went missing, they might need to look into other disappearances of other women and girls, most predators have committed multiple offenses before they ever become a suspect in one individual case!
