Before commenting please watch the full video - I am in no way saying this isn’t an amazing camera, I am however, trying to give you a different take on the X100VI and why you possibly may not need it. Let’s be kind to each other on this channel and have healthy debate. Thanks in advance.

X100VI is the best advert for the GR III, and what motivated me was literally a half-price saving (in Sweden), and being able to take it anywhere.

Good video. I'm happy with my second hand X-E4 with 18 and 35mm lenses and used XF10 for 'point and shoot'. I don't do video either.

I bought the X100VI after watching many videos, but as a professional I found the images quite gloopy on some textures, soft when shot raw, and quite artificial looking. It seemed to me to be a mobile phone camera super charged and wrapped in a retro body. I have the GFX100ii and that is hard to beat. The X100VI however is not for me, though I cam see why many like it.

Canon G1X mark iii is my choice. It is a fantastic camera for me and the size means I always have it with me on hikes and adventures, including Zeiss 25mm 8x binoculars and Ulanzi MT49 tripod. Fantastic photo results and OK, no 4k video, but the 1080p looks good. Timelapse, weather sealing, Canon DP autofocus, built in ND. I’ve improved my skills through the repetition and practice of trying many different scenes purely as a result of having the camera with me many places. Whatever camera gets you excited to be outside taking photos will surely help improve you as a creator so find a tool that helps you get the reps in.

If you want the X100 VI look.. an X-T5+XF23mm F/2.0 will give similar results (like very similar) or get the fantastic (in my opinion) Sigma 23mm F1.4 Having said this... 1 thing that set the X100 series apart from any other Fuji camera is the leaf shutter. If you have ever wanted to truly stop motion using a flash at 1/4000 is (yes HSS exists, yes if you have complete control of flash duration that works too) but this is the only camera with a leaf shutter for under £5000 Built in ND is nice too, and IBIS although I always said that's for video... however the 40MP is more susceptible to camera shake than previous generation cameras in my opinion so the IBIS can help at those lower shutter speeds
@Jay_Ducker8 ай бұрын
Some good thoughts here. You’re totally right about the leaf shutter too. Loved that in my x100f.

I owned the X100F, but sold it because I could not make it work for me. The AF was incredibly ...unreliable. My hit rate, taking photos of 2 kiddos was ridiculously low. Wide open the lens was soft, too soft for my liking. I was not tempted when the V came out. There was still a simmering resentment towards the camera, even though I knew it had a new lens added. With the VI many claim that the AF has improved a lot...so I am tempted. I have an X-T3. There is always a planning and bag-selection involved when I take it with me. I want a camera that is light and small, that I do not have to plan for when I go out. I always want to have it with me, just in case. I am willing to give the VI a try, and if it does not work, I just sell it...

This sounds similar to my story. I had the X100F and didn’t love it like everyone else did so got rid of it and bought the XT3. I’m now a massive fan of the Ricoh cameras so maybe an option

Valid points all around, and I’m getting closer to just canceling and get an X-S20. But the reason I wanted the X100VI was to take to shows/concerts since most venues only allow compact cameras. Since it’s so high in demand it’s making me a little impatient, and I’m normally a patient person. We’ll see, I still have time.
@jamestonbellajo6 ай бұрын
For what it’s worth, I’ve been able to take my X-T5 to concerts with various lenses without issues. Lenses include the 27mm f2.8, 23mm f2 and 15-45mm. Obviously no issues with my X100VI either.
@NubbyNubbster6 ай бұрын
@@jamestonbellajo I see smaller venues being more flexible, but shows like lollapalooza or even arenas I’m sure they’ll be more strict on cameras. But I appreciate the tips.

Great balanced video, one of the few. Luckily I only waited 6 weeks for mine. Orderd on the day after release then while watching as many videos as i could before its arrival and starting to doubt my purchase because of all the negative videos and especially comments. However since it arrived I havent any regrets. Image quality is great and way more than enough, it feels and looks fantastic. Is it expensive? no, not if you take into account the quality, size and specifications of the other cameras that are spouted by the naysayers. Personally ive never liked the faux SLR look of many modern day camers. Ive done the 'pocket/bag full of prime lenses' thing in my wedding and portrait (and days out/holidays). Does it make me a better photographer? Yes, because its easier and a pleasure to take out and use. As for the fixed lens that people like to get their panties in a twist about, all I can say is look at the work of all the world famous photographers who seemed to do just fine with fixed lenses that were far less quality as pretty much all of those produced today.😀

Owned the V since release and also own the VI (I got it in 3 weeks wait). I've always preferred the rangefinder style (also use/own the Olympus Pen F, Konica Hexar AF). All these bandwagoners and content creators are seriously making this camera low key embarrassing to own. Part of me is thinking I'll get the x-pro 4 when it releases and sell the x100vi. Assuming Fujifilm don't give us that stupid reversed screen.

Completely agree. For some it might be just right. For me, not so much. Much prefer X-T5 with the 16mm f/2.8 or 35mm 1.4 or one of f2s - it is a very small package. Much prefer interchangeable lenses.

I preordered on the morning the X100VI was announced. I want it for the IBIS. I’m not much of a video shooter. I do 30” clips. Yes the IBIS will help with video but who would purchase the VI as a video machine? I’m an old man and find IBIS helpful. This is a camera for EDC, street, and travel. Anything else and you might as well get a XT5 or XH2/S. I may cancel my preorder. There are a million preorders. I don’t want to wait a year or two to own this camera. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)

I owned it, 1. because! is it the first X100 with is easy to use for video. This is the effect of 2. IBIS! I never will buy a camera without IBIS. Especially if it is a camera, you have everytime with you, in the evening, too. I 3. weathersealed it with a glimmerglas filter for beautiful nightshot (with IBIS 😉). If you see inflation, its only 100€ above the V (4.). Not cheap, but worth it. A S20 with a 23 2.0 is not cheaper but uglier, a GRIII is cheaper and uglier, but far away from the X100VI in terms of functionality. No Viewfinder for example, no 40MP for crops. The X100VI is! a point and shoot, if you want. By the way: Set the warning for overheating to high in your S20 and your X100VI and then you have no issues.

@@NicolasBENOIT-l5f Selectable snap focus for one, which for street photography is a fantastic feature to have. Sharpness of the lens compared to the X100V / X100VI which is softer at wider apertures.
