one of my favorite recipes is cherry chocolate, I use about a cup of coconut milk , one frozen banana about a cup of frozen cherries and a couple of tablespoons of cacao powder but you could also use cocoa or carob , and a pinch of sea salt if it's to thick add more milk water or coconut water till you get the consistency you like but I like it really thick like a shake or icecream

So I'm a sucker for anything sour and I made up this smoothie when laying around my house: I used about a hand full of rasbarries, a cup of orange juice, half a banana and honey. It makes a great morning drink, not only are you getting heathy fruits and vitamins but the sourness of it will give you a lot of energy for the day.

A few years ago I tried a really refreshing, invigorating smoothie with a bunch of fresh parsley (the stems and all) and pineapple and water. I had a plain blender then, but am waiting on my Vitamix to get here so I can try it again! The recipe calls for grapes, not pineapple, but I didn't have any grapes on hand that day. It was still very good! I also added almond butter for protein and fat. Very tasty! I'd never have thought about putting parsley in a smoothie before.

With the Coronavirus coming to British Columbia, I've started boosting my husbands vitamin C. I cut two oranges in half. Pull out the orange and use a little rind or a teaspoon of frozen orange concentrate. I add about two cups of almond milk and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Toss a couple of ice cubes in and blend on smoothie setting. I feed both of us a tall glass every morning. It tastes exactly like a orange Julius. Apparently vitamin C helps to fight off this new corona virus. Either way they are delicious. By the way we roared when you said to pour the juice all over the counter. You are funny. Keep em coming.

Not a smoothie but I like to blend a big handful frozen dark cherries along with half a frozen banana. You might have to use the tamper to push the mixture down the sides and back into the blades, but it makes the most delicious sorbet. The banana makes it creamy and sweet and it's just delicious!

I normally like making dairy-free frappuccinos, but for actual smoothies, I normally just throw together whatever's on sale, and I do normally try to make a batch of almond or cashew milk every three - four days if I can, using the Vitamix, and then straining it (if it's almond milk). However, whether it's a coffee-based smoothie (frappuccino), or a pure fruit and veggie smoothie, I normally just buy any fruits or veggies that are on sale that just "go together" of sorts... Most of the time, they are refreshing and delicious. Love using mangoes, grapes, bananas, pineapples, strawberries, tomatoes, or whatever. Same with sugar free candy bars that I might find once in a while, too, for the frappes. Just add those in along with slitting open a K-Cup of a stronger roast flavor, and adding that into the nut milk, along with ice, and the candy bars, and that normally turns into a Starbucks-quality drink.

Katie I love your recipes, but had just one suggestion/concern. I noticed that you use a kitchen towel or a towel to squeeze out your juice, I'm wondering why you don't use cheesecloth that is brand new out of package? I'm not sure if this will hold true for you but I imagine a lot of people will think the same when I mention it here, and that is when we do our laundry we use laundry detergent and softener like snuggle or downy. When you were squeezing out the juice that's all I could think of, is that you were squeezing out whatever laundry detergent you use and whatever softener you use into your juice! I was like oh my God, I wonder if anyone else is thinking this. I personally would never use a towel for those reasons. Any residue from laundry detergent and softeners even bleach will remain in the towel after rinse and drying. I will use cheesecloth myself. But thank you for the nice recipes I do appreciate your video! I just wanted to share that with you.
@KatieCooksandCrafts Жыл бұрын
I'll admit, I've never thought much about laundry residue getting into my food. Your comment has given me something to consider. I use towels in many ways in my kitchen. I wrap produce to store it, I strain broth and almond milk, I dry greens, cover bread dough. Even something as simple as drying dishes could leave laundry residue on food surfaces. I don't use fabric softener s and rarely use bleach (although bleach is food safe at such small values). Personally I feel more comfortable with my washed towels than cheese cloth from a package that went through who-knows-what chemicals during production.
