This is a beautiful and easily followed video. I want to compliment you on the filming of your videos. The videos are smooth and professional. You strike a great balance between loose and detailed strokes. Quite interesting to watch and provides enough looseness to engage the viewer's imagination, but enough control to hold the composition together and to make convincing shapes. Touches of fine details like the grasses and flowers in the background are delicate and delicious. Thank you from Washington State--thought it might interest you to know where your viewers are. (I grew up in Florida so enjoy many of your local comments!)

This is exactly what I need. A step by step process demonstrating technique, as well as explaining the rationale behind your value an colour choice. However I am still a little confused about your colour choice of pink as the sky underpainting colour and orange for the grass. Were these base colour visible in the original???
@monetcafe3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Vicki!!! And that's a good question about the pink base in the sky and orange in the grass. Basically they are complementary colors to the blue and green and they give more vibrancy and life to the color (even though most of it is covered it still influences the color laid on top). Hope that helps!!!

I love the way you teach and i especially love your shirt. Here is a verse out of one of my poems you may like. @monetcafe3 жыл бұрын
Oh wow Warren... those are some powerful and beautiful lines of poetry! I write poems and songs myself and I can totally hear a melody to this. Bless you for your beautiful words and keep writing brother. I can feel the Holy Spirit at work in you. Also, just thought I'd share a favorite poem of mine by Frederick William Pitt (1850-1943). I particularly love the line.... "He died upon a cross of wood, yet made the hill on which it stood." The Maker of the universe As Man, for man was made a curse. The claims of law which He had made, Unto the uttermost He paid. His holy fingers made the bough Which grew the thorns that crowned His brow. The nails that pierced His hands were mined In secret places He designed. He made the forest whence there sprung The tree on which His body hung. He died upon a cross of wood, Yet made the hill on which it stood. The sky that darkened o’er His head By Him above the earth was spread. The sun that hid from Him its face By His decree was poised in space. The spear which spilled His precious blood Was tempered in the fires of God. The grave in which His form was laid, Was hewn in rocks His hands had made. The throne on which He now appears Was His from everlasting years. But a new glory crowns His brow. And every knee to Him shall bow.

Actually, pastels are a dry medium already, so once you apply them there’s no waiting at all. Of course I do create underpaintings at times that use wet mediums and if I’m anxious for them to dry I just hit them with a blow dryer. Hope that helps.

Yes, however, with watercolor you usually work light to dark, instead of dark to light with pastels.
