I always had issues with the lighting and thought about taking paintings outside to photograph but i was holding myself back thinking "Thats crazy!" Thank you for confirming its NOT crazy. Overall a good video on the subject.

Thank you both for sharing so much here….including a light, lovely studio space. Plus, getting insights from an artist and historian And relaxation insights from a professional dog… so fortunate we are. Maybe this photo editor will be a step better than what I am using…my works tend to lose some good detail as I employ texture and small details in white on white sometimes in significant areas of my paintings. That sometimes seems impossible to capture properly. That being said… do you have recommendations for fine, small details on larger works please? Things that can be appreciated in person… however are a little lost in the scope of the big photo. I tend to use detail photos on my Ig presentation… Thank you very much Sincerely, Janet

Hi Janet, thank you very much. Some detail shots can also do the trick, especially for Instagram posts. However, it will never be as if we see the work in the flesh. Have a great start to your week! All my best, Julien

Julien you can't imagine how helpful this video has been! You're a lifesaver, really. I'm an art student and my paintings usually go up to 2x2 meters. On top of being filled with small details, I often encountered myself failing (even with costly cameras) to capture them with such quality as in art catalogues and professional portfolios. I know with this phone trick you mostly get photos to share on socials and maybe even present them to prizes. Do you have any advice for this other type of big-scale photos of big paintings, or any advice (given that you also have worked with big canvases)? Thank you, sincerely. Have a great day (and your fluffy pup too)

Grid settings are also on Android. Idk why some content creators say things this way insinuating that Android doesn't have the feature.

Hi, thanks and congratulations for this channel. It has been so useful. I have a question, do you recommend frame painting? Because Ive beeing seeing to artist like Tracey Emin frameing their paintings with a very minimalistic black frame, and also Jenny Saville with an enormous white frame (also minimalistic), but there is also artist like Manuel Felguerez and Louise Giovanelli (the same you share in the video) who didint frame their paintings. I just want to know if it is just an aesthetic decision, or its more like a rule, where frame painting is a more professional way to show painting.
