The fact that the bearman was dismissed is unfortunate because any sinister person could dress up in real bear skin in order to easily kidnap a child. Could be a pervert, a feral human, or if legends are to be believed, it could be a skinwalker.

There was no report of a bearman, or a feral man - the witness simply said they saw a man. There was no report of him carrying anything. Never existed in the original report. There was a shout heard and a man appeared shortly afterwards. That's it. The reason the park rangers dismissed the report was because it took place too far from where the child went missing. So they didn't consider it related.

I once took a dog to be adopted in a rural area, the family owned farms all around the property which was further covered by other people's farms in all directions. Unfortunately at night the dog broke her collar and ran away, I got a frantic call in the wee hours of the morning so I drove over freaking out. For HOURS I walked aimlessly in every direction screaming her name till I scratched my throat till I lost my voice. After half a day had passed I knew I had to get back to the city but I knew if I left she would go farther away and die. I broke down completely and cried pitifully begging God. When I got up she was around the corner looking at me scared. I can't describe the rush of relief. I hugged her and completely broke down, wailing aloud. I put her back in my car and brought her back. I know how desperate I felt and that was just a dog I was trying to rescue, but the feeling of responsibility and the guilt was killing me. I can't IMAGINE what parents go through. I pray God answers their prayers and their children are found. 🙏

My 3yo went missing in a house full of people and other kids. Took hours to find him...in the toy box, asleep under stuffed animals. That was terrifying and I must have covered 20 miles in the neighborhood looking for him and he had just fallen asleep while playing hide and seek with the other kids. He won by the way...

I live in a rural area. On lots of land. My kids were under 10, 2 boys. Would take the dog, a .22 rifle, and toys all the way over the hill to the creek. They also carried a small "walkie-talkie", and I kept the other close by, in case something happened. People act like I was nuts to allow that. They are adults now, and have great memories of those days

Imagine how much worse it is if they don't find them, and you spend the rest of your life wondering if they survived and what they were going through. If they died wondering where you were, when you were coming to get them. That's the worst. Sometimes it's better to know they died than to think think of them being hurt and afraid. I couldn't handle that.

I grew up in the woods here in Washington state. By 8 years old I was allowed to be out all day doing pretty much whatever I wanted as long as I had my lever action 38 with me. I've been here f40 years now about and have spent weeks at a time in the deepest reaches of of all the big forests here and have never once seen a single thing.. but I've experienced all kinds of crap. I've had giant trees falling down around me falling in different directions with no wind. I've smelt gnarly rotten skunk cabbage smell followed by giant logs being thrown over my head. There was 4 of us there that time. I've also left camp for just a minute with it leaving my sight for just seconds and having everything destroyed with the tents torn apart with scraps in the trees. One time I set up camp then went down to the stream to get water just 30 ft away and came back to everything piled up on the fire pit. Luckily there wasn't a fire yet. But no person could have done it that fast. Something we can't or don't understand is happening out there.

The natives respected the land & it's spirits & knew where to go & where not to tread. These days all that is lost & there's so much we don't understand out there & campers are putting themselves at risk. I would be keeping away from those spiritual places that had your stuff packed up! That's a sure sign to leave your not welcome 🤔 The forests have some very strange things going on in there that are frightening 😱 Your experiences were that, thanks for sharing 😱😱

I'm noticing a common theme, many of these stories lead to people (or their things) being found at a swamp, even though there's literally no reason why people would just book it full speed into a swamp. I grew up in Florida and that's literally the last place i would EVER go.

I thought I was the first one to notice... I've done research on the inner earth legends and reports before learning about 411 and decided to see if the cave systems map looked similar. There's almost certainly a connection as the blank spot in the American heartland/breadbasket region is the same on both maps. Possibly the culprits are creatures or spirits from far below, likely incorporeal in nature. I recommend you to look into the diary of admiral Byrd, as well as ancient Hopi legends about their origins. Atlantean Gardens here on KZbin is also resplendent with inner earth information.

I think that most of the time when a parent says "I only looked away for a second", they're lying. They don't want to look like they were neglectful parents after their kid goes missing. They were distracted by something, and they took their eyes off the kid for a few minutes, which is more than enough time for them to get snatched by a bear or some weirdo just hanging out in the woods.
@Necrowolf81

I totally agree. Parents get distracted and kids can easily wander off. Then who knows what happens to them, from accidents to abductions to animal attacks… all kinds of scary stuff. I don’t think it makes the parents necessarily neglectful, I think it’s an unfortunate event that might be avoided by taking precautions such as those toddler harnesses that attach to your wrist, or something like that.

Caves, sinkholes, bears, moose, weather, and good cold human idiocy perfectly explain this - the scariest story here is that the national park service does not want to publish a complete list of those who have gone missing, because it would hurt tourism in there for the bottom line. I live in the middle of 200 acres... #1 If i go stomping into my woods my dogs are always with me. #2 I’ve never felt like things were watching me- except my crows- who I listen to carefully, however I can’t imagine being in a place where I’d never been and feeling spooked. If- and I hope it never happens- should I throw my phone away from me? Just to give a location of where I was if something or someone creeps up on me? Did your team ever take companion dogs on your trips into the wild? I can’t keep my dogs inside if I’m outside, so I’ll never be alone out there. I just wondered what your protocol was for going into a dense forest. My dogs go nuts if they hear (or think they hear) something outside. It’s usually a raccoon or a fox or coyote... but now being a Ballen fan I do wonder what else might be out here. I am armed, but it’s not like I sleep with my gun under my pillow- but should I? Sorry to ask so much- but you seem to be a good source of ideas and observations of such encounters.

@@corablue5569 You can take an adhesive tape with you, so you can mark your path if you lost and track back. David P. from Missing 411 suggest taking a locator beacon with you so you can send a signal, a printed map in case your phone battery is over, a whistle to send a signal to rescuers if your voice is too weak, a pack of the big plastic trash bag to make a waterproof shelter or outfit in the case of emergency and of course some medical drugs and pills for pure water, it all has a small weight so it is convenient and you feel safer. John, Dennis turns out was 4 months older than myself and my first hearing of his disappearance was almost a year ago. It is SUCH a heartbreaking tale to me. I’m not sure why but maybe because I myself was almost snatched at around that time by 3males, but was able to run home and alert my folks. Maybe it’s Dennis’ picture. He looks so trusting and happy, so innocent, so precious. Maybe because I felt the things Dennis experienced as he looked for someone to help him and the despair when he couldn’t find someone. Such a tragedy. It haunts me, Brother. And his fathers pain must’ve been horrible, can only be imagined never having been one myself. Thank you John for remembering Dennis. I hope ppl look into the fact that David Paulides is nothing but a grifter and fraud. DP won't come out directly and say it but all clues lead to the fact he thinks Bigfoot is behind the disappearances. DP is a liar and he cherry picks facts to further his narrative while ignoring major facts that make these cases a lot less mysterious such as the fact that many of the "missing" were found and are ALIVE. He says he doesn't include ppl with substance abuse issues, suicidal ppl, or mentally ill ppl in the missing 411 cases but this is bs. Please don't support this man who profits off the misery of others who have lost a loved one. He does nothing to give back to the bereaved in the way of time or money. He is a disgraced former cop and a fiction writer telling stories about Bigfoot. He's also a very miserable person who attacks anyone who even dares to question or critique him in the slightest. He scrubs any negative comments and blocks commenters. Plz don't help this man by visiting his YT page (which BTW his videos are extremely long winded and are filled with off-topic tangents, and rarely cover the topic in the title), you are not missing anything. Check out The Missing Enigma YT channel for more down to earth and well researched explanations .

I've been hiking through all sorts of terrain (except sandy deserts; we don't have those in Europe) for over a decade now and back when I was still a teenager I was taught to always carry a locator, shovel and probe when hiking or climbing in snowy terrain. After a couple of minor scares in the Alps, I started advocating for the "chain line of sight". Basically, every member of the group is responsible for keeping whoever is ahead of them within their line of sight. Yes, this leads to slower progression, but a big factor in search efforts is determining exactly where someone was seen for the last time. Incorporating prevention and early detection into your planning instead of just having contingency measures can make a huge difference, and I say this from the perspective of the group leader and organiser in most of my expeditions for the last four or five years.

I read a medical examiner's book where he described cases he'd been on, and he said that sometimes when people are exposed to the elements and get hypothermic, they can enter this weird mental state where they have no idea what they're doing. There have been people found undressed, frozen to death after they laid down to sleep because they were exhausted and cold. It's possible that this is the explanation for some of these stories, but definitely not all of them and there is something very sinister.

My theory is that predators like mountain lions , large birds and other animals living in these nature preserves try to carry them away but give up because the child is struggeling too much. Think about that video of the eagle throwing a goat off a cliff. Could totally imagine such an eagle carrying a child of 2-4 years away. For why some of them showed no signs of an animal attack ? Maybe those who survived got lucky and the animals grabbed them by thier cloths and/or a small bagpack.

@BongHitta
@BongHitta 9 ай бұрын
You're right to an extent. Some of the disappearances are most likely human in nature (and the police know this) However, we don't know that there is "feral" people living in the woods. There are hermits and isolationists who choose to abandon society and live off the land for personal reasons or the challenge, but to equate them to backwoods inbred sub species of humans is ridiculous and insulting. There may be a couple odds and ends VERY small collections of people in certain areas that have generationally migrated deep into the woods and became an independent group. However there's no evidence to support any of it. No structures located, no heat signatures detected for unrelated aviation missions, no credible sightings or verifiable evidence. There's tiktok videos and urban legends. The woods is a good hunting ground for predators, but keep in mind a lot of those who go missing are armed hunters. Transporting the bodies back and forth between search areas over days would be impossible. The theory as a general explanation has too many holes.

I heard a story about 2 men, 2 hunters who were in a national park. They were walking and all of a sudden they realized there's no birds chirping, there's no wind blowing, and there's a very ominous feeling in the air. So they knew about all the disappearances, and they looked at each other, rushed to the nearest tree, hugged the trunk, and waited. After about 20 minutes, as if someone had flipped a switch, suddenly the birds started chirping again, the wind started blowing, and the feeling of dread left all at the same time!!! They never knew what the hell that was all about, but they let go of the tree, and resumed their walk!! Now I don't know if that story has anything to do with anything, but it certainly seems like it could.

I can't imagine what a living nightmare it must be not knowing. It would be so horrible finding the body, but at least you wouldn't spend the rest of your life not having closure. Bless these poor families who must live with missing loved ones. Mr. Ballen, your channel is entertaining, but it also sparks awareness. Your style is always respectful and empathetic towards the people in your stories. Thanks so much for this channel!!

In the same vein, check out AWP, Adventures with Purpose. They're a rescue dive team that started out pulling trash out of bodies of water to clean up the environment, and escalated to cars when they got a tow guy to join them. Then they pulled a car one day, no big deal, same old story... and there was a body in it. They now travel the country searching bodies of water to solve cold cases where the person went missing with their vehicle and the vehicle was never found. They've been doing this specific thing for about 2-3 years and have solved 26 cold cases, and famously, the Kiely Rodni case back in Aug/Sept. LE had scanned that lake but didn't see her car, but AWP found it after like 20 minutes of searching. To be fair, however, a fresh car looks a lot different than a car that's been sitting for several years. Anyways, you might like them and their channel. They're a set of absolutely lovely people, they work totally for free and won't take a dime from the families of the deceased, and they show *so much* respect and compassion to both the deceased and their family members. Definitely worth checking them out.

@Roger Fisher It means Humanity believes we understand nature! We don't believe we can be surprised by our ignorance. That's why we downplay the new discoveries made every day. We don't understand nature! We used to live in harmony with nature, but industry killed and perverted our sense of belonging to the earth. Now we're destroying the life that sustains us. That's why we can't see the beauty, the magic, the raw power this planet holds. She has the ability to change everything up and almost be barren, and out of nowhere it seems, life appears over and over. The few bacteria and single celled organisms that survived each apocalypse, were the foundation that gave life to every being on this planet. And how can it be that the only creature walking the planet with the ability to admire her beauty, and see her magic, will be the creature to destroy her!

My youngest disappeared while we were all in Kalamath at the Paul Bunyan Babe gift shop in N. California he let go of my hand or I let go of his? He slipped away thankfully a gift shop attendant had an eye on him, 4 years old but very sharp for his age. He walked through the lot of several hundred cars etc. By now we are "FREAKIN",!!! OUT!!! where's Geneo, you had him no, you had him!!! A few exchanges back forth if you had kids, you did this at least once with every kid! The clerk got Geneo up to front counter as she began speaking into microphone intercom. Hello customer's there is a young man up at counter. Explaining that he's not lost, but he thinks his parents are Lost! Told you he was sharp, we looked at each other and smiled as we went to the counter to find our " NOT LOST SON" ! Great ending but you shows you must remain diligent!!!

How could park rangers simply disregard the Key family's story about seeing SOMETHING carrying a child away, that was screaming, at the time Dennis Martin went missing. Did they really think that parent's of a young child would fabricate such a story, when someone else's child had gone missing. Shoddy investigative work. Thank God for Paulides's continued research shedding some light on these cases.

Because Mr. Keys never said that he saw that. He was threatened so he couldn't speak out. In his old age, most of the others are dead and gone so he's no longer worried about the threats. He saw a disheveled man, not carrying anything, who go into a white car and drove away. There was no bear man or bipedal creature carrying a child. I want so badly to believe in Bigfoot. I certainly believe it's possible. But Mr Keyes never claimed to have seen anything like that

Funny and also true. People always seem to forget that these areas are a natural environment for the predators that live there. Sneaking up on their prey is literally the only thing they know. Even if you are an insanely skilled and experienced hunter, you're still human, and humans make mistakes or sometimes get sloppy, even the best of the best and it only takes one mistake to get ripped apart by a predator given the right circumstances

I feel like we severely underestimate Mountain Lions. I’m not saying that all these missing 411 cases are Cougar attacks, but they are fast, strong, and silent. The impact alone from one pouncing could easily snap your neck.

@@QuigleTheGnome I’ve always heard that, but they never left. I and my wildlife major wife saw one in Louisiana 15 years ago and I’ve heard what I thought was their distinctive cries a few times before even that.

My thoughts exactly. Especially with the last story, what would make the most sense to me would be that the guy was tackled with enough force to knock the wind out of him, things fell out of his pocket while he was on the ground. His boots being where they were is the confusing bit, since I could see something dragging him past a fence, but several miles away? Nah.

Just carry a big ass knife with you if you go into the woods or a pistol. And having a group of people with you would probably be a plus.

@@cpt.cornelius723 well we didn't find chimpanzee bones until 2005, most great ape species are aware of game cameras in their environment, and lastly if some of the first hand accounts are true these things can survive multiple guns shots before being scared off meaning if you can't put a bear down you're not getting away. I'm not saying yes, but I'm not going into deep woods alone, and unarmed anytime soon.

Since Kieth could only say the a cat scratched him I feel like a mountain lion or cougar may have mistaken him for a cub since he was so little and carried him the 12 miles. The warmth from the cat could also explain him not dying to frostbite. Or maybe the cat just saw a youngling and helped it. Some animals have been known to take care of young children when they find them in the wild.

That’s what I’m thinking. But I also think maybe someone wearing a suit might’ve grabbed him up and ran, eventually abandoning the kid, and then maybe the cat found him. Always a story to speculate.
