I was just reading a book the other day (The subtle art of not giving a f*ck) and there was an awesome quote in it, "The “Do Something” Principle. The conclusion is that if you lack the motivation to make an important change in your life, then do something, anything really, and then harness the reaction to that action as a way to begin motivating yourself." People think they need to be INSPIRED, to get MOTIVATED, to then take ACTION. When in reality if you take ACTION, you will be INSIPRED and MOTIVATED to do more. I have been using that in my life lately and I feel way more productive. In just about every single way. Whether that be going to the gym, doing cold plunges, working on my homework, or cleaning the house. That initial spark of making myself do the thing makes me want to keep going and do more of it!

This video came out at the most perfect time in my life. I just got a new job at a bank, and I get out of the office about an hour later than at my old job. It's been really difficult for me to find time to workout, and I think my mindset was "if it ain't an hour then don't bother". Heading down to the garage to do some pull-ups and dead lifts right now. You guys have so much wisdom from your collective years of real world experience and it shows. Thank you for STILL doing what you're doing! Your advice is the digestible information we all need

OMG! The Universe is reaching out to me by way of this video! Ok so this past Monday and Tuesday I didn't train because of left knee pain, tendinitis which creeps up whenever I overdo it with squats. However, truth be told, I have trained with more intense knee pain, shoulder pain, hamstring pain, etc, in the past, which was unwise I know. Therefore if I really, really really wanted to, I could have made it to training...but apparently I really, really really didn't want to. June 29th will be two years into my health and fitness journey and this week I'm really struggling to stay motivated. For one thing it's taking a loooong time to see the changes that I want to see, i.e., lean muscle definition and yes I totally understand that I have to shed many layers of fat before that happens and that the decrease in certain hormones as we age places a big part; but, sometimes I feel like I'm clawing for every single pound and don't get me started on how hard it is to build muscle. About a month ago, I sat in my car in front of the gym, waiting for class to start and I said aloud to myself "I don't want to do this anymore"...I was startled; but, of course I went in and trained. Needless to say that health and fitness is a part of who I am now; however, I think that I need to start researching health and fitness ideas that will enable me to stay motivated and consistent...which is why this video is right on time y'all! Anyway, no matter your personal endeavor, there WILL be moments when you WILL question the journey, question the process and even question yourself; but, take heart in knowing that this too is part of the journey and part of the process. So, do whatever you feel necessary to stay motivated and consistent...just don't quit! Thank you Mind Pump!

To Adams point of reading just one page is 100 percent spot on. Something I have been implementing during my day is doing a super set during commercial breaks while I'm watching TV. Whenever a commercial comes on I will do 20 pushups and 10 body weight Bulgarian split squats, or planks and bicep curls with a band ect. It's great to do with kids because they will either join in or you can use them as free weights. When I start doing squats my two year son instantly wants picked up, so boom I turned it into a goblet squat with a toddler. Hell I had my 9 year old daughter doing Nordic Curls the other day. Kids love to mimic their parents, and that turns around to make me feel good as a parent knowing I'm setting a good example. Even if you do that for an hour while watching TV it will turn into a great little workout once you add it up. Plus I'm home so I don't have to worry about being on someones TikTok.

I love the way that lifting makes me feel. But then both my kids started attending elementary school, without after school care. I started feeling guilty and worried about them being home alone. Motherhood was what stopped me from lifting. I was able to fit in a walk in the morning and some Pilates here and there. I was finally able to fit the gym in at lunch and in the morning, and my motivation is back. The feeling of lifting is motivation enough, but it’s hard when you feel like you’re abandoning your family. Gotta fit it in when ya can, and love what you’re doing ❤

I'm so happy this show exists. Single mom to a 2 years old here, was never intrested in fitness, but always had self discipline and when I initially started working out what wasn't working out for me was the "you need a day off" myth, because I wanted to do it every day even if for as little as 15 minutes. Now I'm 3 months in, working out at home daily and getting great info from this show (some days). Also, I do believe in buying expensive equipment for home cuz then you can guilt trip yourself into using it every day.

I worked out at a gym for 18 months, was one of the first members there. But I gave up my membership this January because it has gotten so popular, didn’t matter what time of day I went, I was there for 2 hours but actually only worked out for 1 because of having to wait for a bench/squat rack or whatever to be vacant. As a mom who works outside the home, that was a not a good use of my time. I started going less and less towards the end. Couldn’t agree more though that working out at home made me more consistent. No more waiting around, I can play my 90s music 😎 and I can workout when it’s convenient for me. Also as an introvert, the solitude helps me unwind as well.

Even if it’s adding steps. Or eating a bit better. He’s really kept it in perspective that as long as you’re doing that little bit everyday that’s going to add up in the end. He also offers some advice based on your goals and fitness level.

Great Episode Guys!!! I love working out but time is generally my problem due to my very busy schedule and priorities. Having a gym here at home has certainly helped with it though. 15 minute workouts sound great but I feel a need to to always do at least 30 minutes and it has a lot to do with having an Apple Watch and closing the ring. It has felt great to have some me time (gym time) in my slower season. I hope to be able to stick with it during my busy season where I will be working from 3 am to 7 pm+ while working on our house that we are building ourselves plus just everyday life. I know it takes discipline and I feel like I used to be great at it but the last few years with all that is going on I have found it very hard. Thank you for all your inspiration! Love listening to you when I am on the road or in the field on my ATV.
