A year or two ago I finally tried layering a tank top over a button down shirt, as recommended by my stylist friend. It was genius. Totally blew my mind as it was a look I would never have tried but I felt so cool and I loved the effect.🎉

Thank you Tuba. Your tip re pink particularly struck me (being someone who bans pink from my wardrobe). I recently bought my teenage son a 'risky' pair of soft dusky pink Eric Emmanuel basketball shorts. A few days ago I watched him wearing them on the court as he was practicing shots. I became totally entranced by the color in conjunction with his athleticism, how uncommon and striking it was. It elevated me and put me in such a mood of hopefulness and positivity that I was slightly embarrassed, as this feeling seemed all out of proportion to the circumstances. Then others he didn't know approached him on the court and wanted to connect. It struck us both as unusual as he's not at all approachable. I actually felt it was the color of the pink shorts having an effect on us but then quashed the idea as being absurd. But then I come across you articulating so perfectly the power of this particular shade of pink, especially on men. Wow! Confirmation! Color is powerful.

Kirsten, this story is so beautiful that I got goosebumps! I’m truly happy you had this kind of emotional experience, where even our own perceptions are being challenged sometimes. This proves again the power that movement, materials and colours can have. The image that I have in my head now of the kids playing and the pink shorts will stay there for a while, thank you so much for sharing 🩷

I’m sure I’m not alone in saying I expect to show support concretely for so much you have offered (and continue offering) gratis on KZbin, and also having the opportunity to enter the other fora you’re utilizing to “bring content out”- and to bring people together. Your videos are pure joy to watch, and reflect a great deal of work in addition to your splendid personality and intelligence.

Another insightful lecture from Professor Avalon! Double collar is something that I have wanted to incorporate more of in my life. However, the short cardigan with the longer shirt is a fresh look to dive into. Lastly, the argyle sweater looks fabulous on you. 🌻
@tubaavalonАй бұрын
I can imagine the cardigan/shirt look on you pretty well! you will make it work 💙
@hellothanksforbeinghereАй бұрын
Great video Tuba. I often find I'm already doing many of these things (with the exception of double collars...not sure I want to relive that particular experience...) but it's kind of the contrast that elevates it. My clothes are often black or navy blue, with little material/fabric contrast, so layering doesn't make much of an impact and it looks very same/same. There's no moment of excitement. So, this is a reminder to self to also mix up colour, pattern, texture, etc while using those basic 'shake up' guides.
@tubaavalonАй бұрын
my personal struggle is also the colours usually, but trying different textures can still help, especially if its clear cotton vs. thick wools or shiny fabrics. but overall its right, the outfit needs an imbalance to create excitement 🤍

I watched the Prada menswear video at least three times to look at how the blue shirt was folded in the back to lift it. Hot. And I've been thinking about taking puffy straps to lace into the weird velcro holders all over my rafting guide shirts, a la Craig Green. I love your videos and will be going over to Discord and Patreon, too! I hope that you have an option for purchasing more than a month at a time, as I hate managing subscriptions and want to focus all of my attention on fashion and design (outside of my job :).
@tubaavalonАй бұрын
omg I rewatched the scene with the blue shirt so often! is it just crinkled, designed like that or really just stuffed together? I think the shirt still needs to be slightly small, otherwise it's too much fabric, I don't own a fitting shirt yet :/ and very happy to hear you'd like to join! I haven't got a yearly subscription yet, cause I thought nobody would be interested, I will check it asap!
@patriciaeamon1388Ай бұрын
@@tubaavalon I'll subscribe either way!! I agree about sizing, esp. for this shirt. I feel like it's been manufactured with strips that fold together and that I cannot recreate it. I enjoy the way the back pairs/contrasts with the waistcoat-like front hem.

Great tweaks Tuba… 🤩easily achieved too… totally agree we can shop our own wardrobes or so very easily thrift a couple of men’s polo tops get creative with the scissors so as not to have too much thickness to avoid overheating 🥵 😬.. the multiple belt or even 1 really long luggage strap to wrap around at least 3 times 😉depending on the your girth, will so beautifully emphasise the waist… so great… I too love the soft pastel colours for a punch of contrast with deep tones & boring neutrals but go further than just the so pretty soft pink don’t forget the joy of soft baby blue, pale mint green & pale buttery yellow or pale lemon think babies clothes 👶🏻… they are all JUST YUMMY 🤔😀🤩 Many thanks again Tuba for putting a blast of fresh air through my brain & into my train train quotidien, quite fatigued old wardrobe! 🥰🙋🏻♀️
@tubaavalonАй бұрын
haha so happy to hear its refreshing! It takes time to really find the good tweaks, but these are my favourite. And omg you're so right with one uber long belt to emphasize it even more! Almost like a short corset! I love seeing pastels, but struggle to implement it into my wardrobe, cause it can also easily make me look pale. But I will try this summer, I might start with baby blue, my favourite 💙

Getting up to incorrectly wash my white t-shirt with my red clothes :D Tuba, you're always so on point! I am so tired of the white t-shirt. They are way too easy and I just can't see them anymore in summer. And most of your tips are new to me. I love it, when I hear smth I don't already know in a fashion video 💝 Btw one more thing about the collars. In one of your past videos, I noticed that you tucked in one part of the collar of your shirt into your sweater. I don't remember, if you mentioned it explicitly though. But I have never seen anyone do this and I just found it so genius! Super minimal and proffesional and still making it fun.
@tubaavalonАй бұрын
haha cant wait to see your full pink wardrobe soon 💗 and yes, i tucked just one side of the collar in that video and it was inspired by a Miu Miu runway look from the Spring Summer 2024 season, but I love to do it irl!

@tubaavalonАй бұрын
I think minimal was justified after the wild 2000's, but it took over so much space that it surpresses real personal style now, which started to bother me :( white is also very complicated for me, it also depends a lot on the styling of it 🤍

Hi Christine, the first navy blazer with the tank was from the Hed Mayner SS 2018 show, the striped blazer with the black top is from the Juun J. SS 2018 show! Hope this helps, unfortunately older collections, but many brands create pieces that are alike now 💝 greeting back from Paris 😘

omg this question is too big. But for inspo and even real pieces if it’s manageable, everything Nicolas Ghesquière, early Margiela, every year of Prada, Jil Sander, The Row and also Balenciaga for knowledge in proportions. Dries for patterns, Junya for disruptive tailoring, Martine Rose, Merryl Rogge, these are my current inspirations, but they’re also endless.

How to dress well in the summer? it's too hot for layering and more challenging to create an interesting outfit
@tubaavalonАй бұрын
that's right, it might not work for extreme temperatures, but for the usual 25 degrees we have here, I tend to skip the longsleeve and just implement the stylings on short sleeved shirts, so doubling them doesn't affect me too much, like a tank over a t-shirt. I might do a video on tips for ultra hot temperatures too :)

)2:21 is why Demna is a joke. LOOK AT THAT ORIGINAL SILHOUETTE!!! SO CRISP, SO CHIC!!! UGH!!!!!!
@tubaavalonАй бұрын
I do like Demna's designs, but his latest couture collection was not his strongest. I think we just need to see designers in context still. Cristobal is for me the most influential couturier and we see his influence until today, but I think Demna did a great job re-interpreting his designs and adding his own vision to it too
