Today I'm doing what I do best and getting out and about where the tourists don't go in the backstreets of Bangkok. Today I headed to the small but famous Wat Ang Kaeo (วัดอ่างแก้ว, a Buddhist temple on the Thonburi side of Bangkok, Thailand, neaby BTS/MRT Bang Wat.
I'm not here to make merit, though, I'm here to eat a serious bowl of Tom Yum noodles, slap bang on the side of a local canal at a place called Tang Charoen Riverside Cafe (ตั้งเจริญ คาเฟ่ริมน้ำ)
This lovely local family has been slinging bowls of these spicy, sour Thai noodles for over 70 years and are super popular in the area.
The noodles are 40/50 baht depending if you get an egg.

This is a prime example of why I love Bangkok so much. There’s just so much food to explore here! Whether you are in Chinatown, the Old City, Thonburi or here in Sukhumvit, you can always find amazing Thai food in Bangkok

My name’s Gary and I’ve been living in Bangkok for the past five plus years and travelling Thailand for over ten. I’m obsessed with Thai street food and it’s that obsession that led me to start this KZbin channel. I want to share my favourite hidden spots in Bangkok and the rest of Thailand so you can fall in love with authentic, local Thai food as much as I have!
I’ve never understood travelling to a town or city and not eating the local food. How else do you really connect with a place? Let’s get out and explore together and I guarantee you’ll find a whole different side to this wonderful country.
If you love seeing off the beaten path, non-touristy, local life and authentic local life in Bangkok and Thailand then this is the channel for you. If go go bars on the Sukhumvit Road are more your thing (I’m not judging) then maybe not!
