I have a RWD SR Model 3 2024 / Highland and I agree on every point you’re making. I experience those issues often. I can add more to the list: 1) Turn indicators are terrible in roundabouts, as you’re distracted by finding them when exiting instead of looking for cyclists/pedestrians, and other cars. That’s a huge problem in many European countries. 2) Autopilot doesn’t adjust the speed when a new speedsign is detected - it just ignores it, so you have to manually adjust to the new speed with the scroll buttons, or deactivate and reactivate manually. And it disables when you change lanes. Those are normally basic features included for adaptive cruise control. According to Tesla you need a 3000€ software upgrade for that. 3) The glass gets HOT if you drive in the sun, and you will feel that on your head (regardless of AC). 4) The charging port doesn’t unlock along with the car, like any other EV we had. You have to manually unlock it in the app. That may seem like a small thing, but it doesn’t make any sense, if the car detects you near the car and it’s not charging. However, most of the above is fixable with OTA updates, and probably will be. And value for money is just unbeatable. Compare to the RWD SR to any other 40000€ car, not just other EVs. If you can live with the qirks, buy this car. It’s awesome.

Great review Chris 🙂 I want to change my actual EV , the TM3 Highland is on the list, I had a very long test drive, the cons are mostly the same as yours to be honest. Tesla are very cool and nice cars, as to be super efficient, but some snags are sometimes very annoying. But the ride is fantastic, so I have to wrap my mind around it It seems that you have awaken the wrath of some Tesla non-objective fanboys. And they dare to speak about "nitpicking".... funny 😅

The personal experiences and dislikes in this video are consistent with many other similar videos for this car. Please add entry and exit for vehicles you test. I.E. How easy or difficult is it to access the front seats if you are tall, short or elderly tall or short. Currently driving a Kia Soul because we, as seniors, have easy ingress/egress to/from the seat pad. It's precisely why the ID.4 has risen to the top of our EV acquisition list.

Pretty much the same stuff we encountered 3 years ago when test driving a Model 3. Back then there wasn’t even a top-down obstacle view. Lack of front parking camera and lack of HUD (or any dashboard) were the biggest red flags for us. And VW felt better to drive. I guess it’s the same sporty vs confortable thing. Plus my wife hated single pedal driving. Other cars give you two modes. Tesla forces you to single pedal drive. Car just felt bad in test drive.

The issues you mention are right on. I live in Canada and have to deal the same issues. The one other issue that irritates me is poor auto wipers. I had rain sensors on my other cars and it just worked. The ghost breaking you mentioned is annoying so I have stopped using cruise control. As it just breaks fairly hard for no reason. I have had my model for 9 months and I will replace it with an Ioniq 5 in a few years. Or maybe something else that has come to the market.

We see that you are testing this car in the wonderful Bavarian summer or you would also have mentioned the poor performance of the Auto setting for wipers. Most other ev brands like BMW Does good job, For me Tesla is still best Ev. If you look at Mercedes their Eqa and EQB are just ice cars with battery under, i drove with it and it is boaring. I don't understand how people forget the price tag. In Belgium you have model Y and Model 3 for 35000 Euro. If you want basic EQA businessline (still much less options than Tesla you pay 59000 euro. I am not even talking abkut full option BMWix1 or Id 4 or even ID7. Big brands are jsut way behind in this. You don't compare a hous of 300k with house of 500k right? Tesla aren't far from perfect. Btw we drove 3000 km already never faced phantom breaking, yes cars sometimes beeps for cars that are on the side for no reason but it doesn't do lhantom braking.

Personally, none of these issues would cause me to consider buying a different car. I have been driving a Model 3 for over 6 years, and the rear camera is great. Yes it would be nice to have 360 deg overhead view, but vision out the back is not a problem at all. With the camera it is better than many cars, like my SAAB 900 for example. I do like sport handling, and I am glad Tesla gives this priority over ride comfort. Using buttons for turn signals is something I think I would get used to easily, and maybe like better as I don't need to take a hand off the wheel. However if you signal exits from roundabouts, then it would be very difficult IMO. I don't signal my exits, nor do I trust anyone who does. Most likely they just left their signal on, and if I pull out in front of them there will be a collision.

@@hrtlikI live in Poland I understand what you are talking. A lot of roundabouts here as well. I have previous generation Model 3. A lot of people get an additional screen because they are used to see the speed behind the steering wheel and they want CarPlay as they were used to it just to confess a month later it was a total waste of money. Real owners, not KZbin reviewers with not more than 1 week of experience with the car get used to it. I’m against this cost saving. I understand when EuroNCAP decreases points. Just to mention that it may not be worth extra 300 EUR to retrofit stalks after you drive it for at least 1 month. For rental car - yes, worth it. Additional screen - practically worthless. Unless you want Apple Car Play and 3rd party navigation. But there are handy phone holders to be placed behind the steering wheel and it’s a cheaper and better solution, cause you have no lag and have more functionality. I use basic autopilot all the time and that’s the default mode how car drives. That’s why I’m totally fine with only one button for wipers and changing wiper modes via rotating wheel. I can safely see the current mode on the screen. I know why Tesla is doing this - you will not want to switch to legacy automaker’s car because it’s too much buttons you perfectly forget about why are they. Because there are useless start-stop engine buttons and additional moves to start or stop the car and so on.

Most of the button issues are nitpicking. Owners get used to it in no time. There is no phantom breaking in US anymore. If my car slows down there is usually a good reason (bike or pedestrian)that other cars will never know. I have 2019 model 3 that’s little loud and bumpy. My 2022 model S is very comfortable albeit not as comfortable as Mercedes top trim. FSD is a game changer in US. It will come to Europe. You have the hardware already. Your car keeps on giving you year after year with OTA updates that are free and add new features that are useful. Safest cars around. Beyond that we are all conditioned in life. I mostly agree that the things you mention are not positives. How important they are will depend on the individual. I have a model Y now for half a year and 32.000km already. I came from a model S with air suspension. The comfort is not on the same level as the S, but I find it good almost all roads except really bad ones. Not a show stopper for me. The car is cornering really amazing well and I would not like to give up on that. The parking is fine for me. The auto pilot is working really well for me. If there are places where I know that the current European version will not handle it well I disengage. On the motorway I have no phantom breaking and I have one hand on the steering wheel with a little weight and the car recognises this. No problem. I have seen on previous videos that you wigle the steering wheel and you should do that. Also you should NOT try to steer while in auto pilot, it is not designed to let you steer. So if you understand how it works you will have no problem and it works very well. I also know that the autopilot will be improved via OTA updates. The main thing for me is how it drives even at high speeds very well and long distances effortless
