I have a Z51 and can attest to the ridiculous amount of brake dust that gets on the wheels... My black wheels are almost never clean. My biggest complaints were the open vents on the sides and the exposed radiators up front, I ended up buying aftermarket mesh to cover them up. Best way to keep the engine bay clean is to 3M ceramic everything you can so the water beads off. I had my C8 done front to back for about $850.

I know this video is 1.5 years old but I'll comment anyway. 1. Thanks for the tip on the brush for the engine bay. 2. I believe the 1LT has the HD rear camera, it takes some getting used to and I generally don't use it, but it's there and does provide a good rear view. I have the regular Z-51 spoiler so it's not a bother. Definite blind spots on the rear quarters but if you adjust your side mirrors so you can't see the side of the car then go just a little more, it helps a lot. 3. I have the same garage issue. I put a pad on the wall and use the exit memory setting (steering column forward, seat all the way back). It definitely helps on entry, exit is still a bit difficult. Both of these things help a lot. Not sure if a 1LT has memory seats. Thanks for continuing to do these videos.
@hank41652 Жыл бұрын
An update on exiting the car in the garage: Thanks to another C8 owner (sorry, I forget the name) who suggested setting the exit memory with seat as high as possible. This is a huge help. #5 Bothered me so greatly that I went to Eikon Motorsports and purchased a Lambo door conversion kit. In most cases, the doors open far enough so that I can then lift the doors up and out of the way and get a nice big space to exit the car. As far as getting in or out, that takes a small amount of time. Once in, then I drive her and can't stop having fun. That includes the mirrors which seem to given me adequate view. My C8 hasn't given me the reflections that yours has, so I can't comment on that aspect. In terms of lane changes, I do have to be careful in certain circumstances, but so far, so good after 14 months of driving. I'm happy with the performance and will not get any of the uprated models. I'm becoming very familiar with the center button stack, so that doesn't bother me. My vertical doors did need adjustment. The easiest way was to obtain high strength grommets. I put them in place as additional bump stop to make up for the sag that develops with break-in on the strut/shock.

When the car is off, my seat is alllll the way back and the steering wheel is all the way forward. When I turn the car on, my seat moves into position and the steering wheel adjusts to my memory setting. Shut off the car, everything retracts and I can get out with ease. Maybe you know this and were just making a point of how huge the doors are, but I wanted to let you know this existed. It's personally my favorite feature. :)

Regarding the garage parking, I back my Corvette into the spot as close to the wall as possible. My wife's car is pulled straight in and also hugs the wall as much as possible. The rationale is backing the Corvette having both cars pointing in opposite directions but sharing the center of the garage for ingress and egress for both cars. That precludes having to squeeze between the wall and the Corvette to get in the car.

Get the low profile wing or no wing at all. Does the rear view of the HTC help any? #4. Why do you expect to drive 75/80 mph not enclosed and not have a lot of wind blowing? On the hair thing.....wear a cap. If it's an issue just keep your top on. #5. Put the wife's vehicle outside & park in the middle, or buy a bigger house with a lot bigger garage, & park away from the rest of the world going places. All of these 5 "hates" are such minor inconveniences in experiencing such a lovable vehicle. No vehicle is perfect. It's always a "give something up to get something in return" type situation. In any case, thanks a lot for the video and your experiences. I'm sure all of us viewers appreciate it!!!! Thanks A++

I always find it funny when complain about wind noise in a convertible 😂

I ordered my C8 and it looks just like yours except it’s a convertible and 2LT so it looks like my problems are cut in half 😅.

How does your C8 Corvette compares in performance with your previous Camaro ZL1 and to your SS1LE?

Really dude you didn't thinks about these things before you bought it?....I guess those rosy colored Corvette glasses really blinded you. All Chevy did was create a supercar..the C7 is the last real corvette amongst many models past and present in my opinion..and don't get me wrong wish I could afford one cause I'm pretty sure I would have rosy colored Corvette glasses on also.

The rear view cam fixes the bad vis if makes you “hate” the car. The wind noise is seriously terrible especially in the convertible. Best way to describe it- think motorcycle!! Still- one of best sports cars ever built.

You made me realize that if i order the convertible i remove the engine display which is the best part of this mid engine.

I'm glad I bought a convertible. I love my 2024 C8 convertible. So cute.

Those things would piss me off too... let's see if they change some of the things you pointed out in future models... the water getting into the engine bay area should be a pretty easy fix for GM if they wanted to - a drip tray that channels the water away... there - DONE...!

Number 4 definitely applies to other Corvettes, namely the 5th gen. I never take my roof out when I'm going on a highway as the winds can be vicious. Below 50mph is a comfortable ride so I only run the roof out when planning to go no faster. Number 4 is an easy fix. Convert to Lambo doors if you can "swing it" with the ceiling height. 😂 All the other stuff is truly legit and the blindspot considerations are downright scary to a retired person who finds driving any car to be challenging.

Will the GT1 seats be more comfortable for daily driving than the GT2 seats, if they are both in a 2LT? I'm considering the LT3 but I can't choose GT1 seats and if they are more comfortable that's more important to me

I bought some Powerstop Z26 ceramic carbon pads for my C8 Z51- Rock auto shipped for less than $80 for all 4 wheels. ZERO brake dust! I've put them on all my previous performance cars. ... keep the OEMs for track day...

Don't know what your complaining about, you got a corvette....I can't afford one. I wished I could buy one. I'm not as fortunate as you are. Count your blessings. I'm driving a 15 year old car.

i never thought about the doors.... id never be able to get in or out if i was at work lmao. I have less room than that with my tacoma at my works parking lot, the spots are so small to fit so many vehicles. I struggle getting in or out if anybody is parked next to me. I thought this was a HTC when I saw the thumbnail going through youtube bc of the black top section of the car. It looks good, Ive been thinking HTC simply bc of not having the engine bay cleaning issues and bc of having the option for the black pillars, roof and nacelles.

I recommend you get some kind of chip protection for the engine intakes on the sides. Texas roads are just FILTHY and you will start seeing chips build up on the intake area.

Someone makes plugs for the rear hatch vents when you clean your car. Yeah the wheel choices suck. Blind spots...OY!!! Awesome car! and great video.
