This is the first Corvette that I've ever wanted. I'm finally getting the "Every man's sports car" feels. They didn't have to give it insane super car styling, but they did. They didn't have to spend billions on the architecture, but they did. An interior that rivals their own Cadillacs? Sure why not. And the price doesn't balloon to comical levels with options like other brands. It'll get 30mpg as you're tooling down the highway and smoke 98% of the cars on the street from the light. For a reviewer who admits he wanted to hate the C8, it still impressed him. That in itself is a huge statement towards how good this thing is. Even the haters are disarmed. As for his dislike of the exterior design, all I can say after 4 months of driving mine - is that I have NEVER seen strangers flock to any other car for pictures - like with this C8. If I run errands, I can plan to be stopped by at least 4 friendly strangers who want to see it and talk about it. This thing helps restore my faith in humanity with all the great people we have since met. Two weeks ago we had 2 C8s in same parking lot as 5 late model Ferraris, 2 Lambo Huracans, a McLaren, and 2 Porsche 911s and a Cayman - and the C8s got ALL the love from passersby. If I had not witnessed it I wouldn't believe it. This thing is an incredible car and incredible value and not a surprise they are sold out for years out .

Just rented a 2023 C8 HTC Z51 for a week. Have a Porsche 981 Boxster Spyder at home. I was very impressed with this. GM has FINALLY figured out a nice interior (loved the line about the C5 interior "feeling like you're sitting inside a garbage bag."). Build quality was excellent. Their comments about feeling isolated during driving ran true for me; my 981 Spyder makes me feel much more engaged with the car and the road. It's not that one car is "better," they're just different experiences. Great value for the money.
@Th3Birdman3 жыл бұрын
As a C8 Vert owner, my experience has been this: the car is extremely liveable, and comfortable for daily driving. I initially planned on continuing daily driving my Mustang GT, but after putting around 4k miles on my C8, my Mustang has been honestly collecting dust. It's so much more comfortable than that car, way more comfortable than my C5 was. It's hard to explain-- I can take corners at high speed and not feel like I'm going throw my tail and spin out. Some things I take issue with said in this video however: 1. Not a SINGLE passenger I've had has "bumped into the HVAC controls". I have no idea why you'd even imply this is possible. The controls are angled AWAY from passengers, meaning they'd have to deliberately try to press the buttons. Normal seating, they'd never even encounter such a problem. 2. Another thing is viewing the engine: name a hard top mid-engine vehicle that comes in a spyder/convertible config where you can still see the engine. Lol, that makes no sense. 3. And lastly, my car was $69,000 (and again, I have the convertible). That's because I went with the 1LT version of this car, which, after owning the C8 coupe 2LT (yes, I have two), I found the 1LT is a better deal for the money. The 2LT's wireless charging is weird because my phone doesn't fit with its case on (which is a case designed for wireless charging). It's way too thin. Also, the front lift was completely unnecessary, something my C5 would have KILLED for, because I scraped that sumbitch every damn day haha. So I definitely recommend the 1LT if you're going vert, because it comes with the rear-view mirror camera anyway, and is just the better deal. Oh and, body colored nacelles (which is what the car in this video has) is a HUGE no-no. Go for the carbon flash colored nacelles and thank me later.

I think I represent the vast majority of C8 owners who will never track their cars. I love to death my Z51-HTC, driving fast when the opportunity presents itself, but even when just cruising on a 2 lane country road with the top down; I'm in heaven. I understand why you focused on the C8's track aspect, just remember, 99% of the drivers of both the C8 and its competition you mentioned will never track them. When the new track-focused C8 iterations arrive, I'll anxiously be awaiting your updated reviews.
@blaster9153 жыл бұрын
See I want a C8 for that exact reason you described. I live in Switzerland which is a very road rule restrictive country, so I have to appreciate the cruise. And having a car that gives me some fun and excitement through it as well as cornering up the mountains, this car is it. They just have to start selling them here so we don't have to pay a stupid import tax 😅😂🇨🇭
@rudyyarbrough51224 ай бұрын
Your 99% will never track this car makes the Z51 package stupid to buy. It offers you better brakes but only if you are tracking the car so that your brakes are overheating. It offers diff cooling which will never come up unless you track your car. It also offers you a summertime tire that must be replaced to drive it in the winter. If you never plan to track your car why pay for all of these extras? This car as a base model's performance is so over the head of 99% of its owners that the Z51 package becomes a phallic symbol.

@adeakin34672 жыл бұрын
@@johannesvanhoek9080 You mean is comparable if not better.. especially this one vs the mclaren 570s. It has the same performance , good mid engine set up ( both dual clutch)and way better tech. Chevy has turned it from sport car to super car. Some ppl can't believe a corvette can now keep up or beat their exotics lol. oh well times have changed and I love it. Good job gm.

The new C8, like most GM vehicles, looks like two different designers in two different areas of the design floor designed this vehicle without talking to each other. But it’s mid-engine and fast I guess…

Mark, you pretty much nailed it in your review. Interior is exceptionally designed and made. The rear exterior looks far better without the tacky spoiler, still too much going on in back. It also mirrors the McLaren models too much. It is not better than a Ferrari however, but certainly worth the price. I don't envy those who drive this however, so I suppose that says it all about how I feel about this new Corvette. (I have owned 3 Corvettes before, 1968, 1978 and 1979 models)

Love how you guys not only do great reviews but damn hilarious comments we are all thinking as you are !!!!! And I’ve got to say the launch system in this C8 non Z51 still violently launches throwing you back into your seat. I’ve seen real launches (Z51) 0-60 anywhere from 2.7 to 3.2 which for a new mid engine Corvette is absolutely amazing that I had to put my order in on a 2023 C8 fully loaded 3LT Z51 package. All the bells and whistles for MSRP. Looking to arrive 3-6 months as I was bumped to the front when an already convertible that was ordered was turned down as it was about to built. So now building my mini supercar? Exactly how I want it and it won’t be garage kept road-trips to come and videos to follow the experience as my girl and I travel the United States. Damn for Mark to sat “ Nothing else rivals this” is a great compliment to the engineers and designers who built this C8 Ford tough ………oh wait I meant Chevy tough bwhaaaaaaa!!!!!you need that 3LT Z51 for a real driving experience.

When Mark is praising the car on street, he's praising the non-Z51 car (albeit w magna ride). When he's praising the car ON TRACK, he's praising the Z51 packaged car. And then when he's criticizing the car on track, he's criticizing the non-Z51 car. Mark doesn't do a good job of making that clear. Jack does a much better job of making that distinction clear. Good video overall.

These are the toughest honest auto critics going...and they are the opposite of corvette fan boys. With that said, I was expecting the worst. Their review shows just how good this new generation corvette is. A truly magnificent platform not only for the money but at pretty much any price. As the engine and transmission options get even more aggressive, it will be fun to see what this car will do. I can't wait to see a 159k 1000+ HP Zora verses an any price anything else. As great as this C8 is, the best days for corvette are yet to come. If you have a C8, hold on to it with all you got. Only sell it or trade it for another C8. These will be the cars our great grand-children will talk about.
@billymania113 жыл бұрын
I agree the styling is way too busy and lacks finesse, but the base silhouette looks good. It just needs to be pulled back into the studio so they can substract some angles and lines. On the interior, more of the same but not as bad. That long strip of buttons is gonna cause grief for GM. Mechanically, I like what they have done.

I also don't like the looks of the C8, I think it looks like the front and back were designed by different people and the back looks like it's melting. I'm sure it could be improved in the aftermarket or by Chevy themselves with upcoming versions like the Z06 though

@CarsMeetsBikes3 жыл бұрын
I argue that the *actual* buying demographic for this car and the LC 500 are very similar, looking for a fun GT car that has the drama and theater. As mentioned in the video, the performance you get at the price point blows the LC 500 out of the water. That paired with the "this is an AMERICAN car" makes it an easier sell than the Lexus.

Lol Alimony Blue...agree 100% on the base car vs Z51 distinction. Z51 is the happy medium. Track Alignment, more aggressive pads and perhaps a +1 in tire size, bam your running with the big boys, for a lot less money. There is some numbness there for sure, but you learn it after awhile and it does keep the car "safe". My 1LT Z51 is a jack of all trades sports car, can GT all day with the top down with the wife, but is also very fun at track days. Love this car and hope I can steal some go fast bits off of the ZO6 when it lands.
@Affalterbach19673 жыл бұрын
Is there a stability control that you dial down for the track but leave fully on for the street ? I didn't fully grasp what you meant about z51 differential though obviously it's twice as good as a z24 Cavalier or z26 Beretta.
@carvdecarv3 жыл бұрын
The traction management software/settings are only available on the Z51. This would just have your generic traction control system, with ON/Semi-On/OFF options. The Z51 car has around 7 traction management settings to choose from.
