My mother had the stare, but what really scared me as a kid was her "death grip". The moment I felt that vice lock around my arm and drag me away I was terrified like a demon was dragging me into the depths of hell, because I knew what was gunna happen once we got wherever we were going...

Number 3 omg! My family is so bad for that with babies. The problem with my family at least, is that we have so many divorces. When I was little we had 2 Christmases, one at home and one at my Dad's parents house cuz my mom's parents lived too far away. My grandparents split and both got remarried so we had 3 Christmases now. Then my parents got divorced so we had 4 Christmases. All my nieces and nephews have at least 3 so they get alot of stuff.

Hehe, just wait until you meet "the counter" mom. All she has to do is say "one" and her kids straighten up real quick. Doesn't have to be loud, doesn't have to have the stare, just "one". I'll guarantee that her kids are even better behaved that young Brandon there.

Yeah my kid laughs at the stare but if I say one he knows it will be very bad for him if he doesn’t comply before three. It only took him one time to challenge that. He never dared to try again. I made sure that was one of the worst spankings he ever got. I don’t play around with disrespect. I don’t even deal with him not saying yes ma’am. We are in the south you better have manners!!

I've never ever seen a counter mom do anything at all at the end of her counting. I even saw a mom break it down into half numbers to avoid having to get up and do anything at all, and her kids knew it. They totally ignored her.
@jaronbaker2807
@jaronbaker2807 3 жыл бұрын
@@oneperson5760 then those moms do not discipline their kids and she’s not a true counter. My mom set the tone at an early age and on occasions I would think I was old enough to get away with things but I was always wrong and when she said “3” she would turn into Thor and summon lightning from the sky to enter whatever was closest to her: belt, shoe, fly swatter, paddles, hands, feet, etc. and if we ever lied about anything you got soap directly into your mouth and it stayed there for a while....I haven’t even told a white lie in 20 years

I think it might be USA white people. When I was growing up in Ireland, in some houses you didn’t even open the presents in front of people. In the families that did, you thanked them for everything and if you got 4 of the same you, you found a way to say you needed 4! Then after the parents might take 3 of those toys back and then you give them to someone else for their birthday or donate them or give them to another family. If you were given something we weren’t allowed to play with (guns in our house), you said thanks and then that you disappeared later! I remember the revelation and amazement when my youngest brother was given a fish shaped water gun and was allowed to keep it, because it was a fish spitting water, not a gun, which made sense but we had never been allowed to have water guns before! (That one was an out house thing but every family had their disappearing toys I expect, and you just knew opening it that you had to say thank you but wouldn’t get to keep it.) we also didn’t have parents at the birthday parties, just the birthday kids parents and any helpers they asked but mostly just the parents! Or a couple of other relatives. It was all kids.
@louiseglasgow
@louiseglasgow 4 жыл бұрын
But that finishing on time thing was definitely a thing! Man when you’ve had a house or party full of little kids with few other adults there, when you’re done, you’re done! I mean parents chatted on the doorstep as they picked up their kids and close friends of the parents might come in for a tea/coffee and to help tidy up but mostly it was just doorstep chat and bye! (And same at a venue, they want you out so they can clean up.)
