Just wait until he takes you a bit further out and hands you a pole with straps that go around your shoulders and belts you into the seat. Just a heads up. If he hands you a strange looking belt with a piece of plastic on the front that looks like it is for holding your beer or soda. PUT IT ON! It may look goofy, but when you are tied to that pole and strapped into the chair, your baby maker and his two friends will thank you for having it. :)

True. Growing up, we had at least 10 rods per family member, more reels (if the big ones are biting, you dont have time to re-spool a reel in heavier line, you just swap reels), and literal hockey duffel sized bags of weights/hooks/lures/jigs/spinnerbaits/crankbaits/etc/etc. And that was just for lake fishing. There's even more crap for when you hit the open ocean! Though...we always brought a decent amount of food along. You need LOTS of water when you're fishing, but if you dont eat at least *something*, you'll pass the hell out.

# 2 is so true. Me and my buddy went on a camping trip with one of his coworkers, a chicano dude named Alexis. 2nd day in we took my canoe out into a very small bay near our campsite. At some point as we neared the mouth of the bay, Alexis informed us he couldn't swim- nor had he ever been on a boat of any kind. About a minute later the tide started coming in surprisingly fast, the waves turned us sideways and the canoe rocked bath and forth aggressively, threatening capsize every few seconds. Alexis was fearing for his life while me and my buddy were laughing hysterically. Because there was a sandbar not 20 feet away and Alexis is 5' and maybe 120 lbs. Anyways we kept it upright, landed on the sandbar without spilling beer OR getting the weed wet. Hung out there till things got calm enough to get back to the island where our camp was. And Alexis is still alive as far as I know. I hope this story is anywhere near as funny in text as it was IRL. TLDR: Alexis didn't make it.

my dad if I’m going fishing I get everything on the boat an hour early, then put on a rubber glove and reach down in the water and yank a clump of tube worms off the dock, then cut the worms out of the tubes and into half inch long chunks and use them as bait for surf perch under the docks... I keep the surf perch alive in a bucket and when I reach where I’m fishing I throw them on big hooks to catch rock fish and halibut... No need to have a lot of lures when nature provide free bait... and Alaskan water provide plenty.

He is talking about one particular sub-set of white people fishing. The other sub-set consists of lawn chairs. Beach umbrellas. Coolers of every type of food and beverage you can imagine. A tool box and a tackle box filled with everything you will and will not need. 6-10 poles of various weights and action because...ya never know. Minnows and night crawlers. Crank bait. Two changes of clothes. Etc etc Then there’s me. 1 pole. A box with some kind of gear in it but I don’t know because I haven’t opened it in a year or two. Some grub worms. A pack of beef jerky. And a 12 pack of cheap beer.
