Congrats Mohamad on your purchase. They are beautiful cars indeed. If our roads were good in this country I'd still have one but unfortunately having one would mean damaged wheels on a perennial basis. I miss my XFR and that V8 burble. Nothing sounds better. Your son won't look back after having one and will become a fan of the XF. I wasn't into Jaguar until I owned one. It's an emotive experience illnever forget. And since there aren't that many on the roads, you stand out in the crowd and people tend to stare, even at the older models. 😁

@@maciejlegowicz5834 Thanks Matt. The 3.0LD has not gotten rave reviews on the forums. Many guys experiencing DPF issues, limp home mode, vibration from the engine & turbo issues. Not sure if the 2.2d also has turbo issues but I haven't come across anything on the forums yet. But yep, you are correct, it's a powerful beast of a car. @maciejlegowicz58345 жыл бұрын
@@carfanfan Hi. The thing about the forums - the majority of people writing something there is because they have problems - that's why the perception may be like something is wrong with those models. DPF issue is quite common for people who don't drive their cars ... long enough. Manual and common sense saying that DPF will self-clear after at least 20 min of driving ... or something like this. I didn't experience vibrations from the engine. I own mine for only about 9 months, but I was kind of lucky to get one from a private person who looked after it - yearly services etc. Let's hope things will stay that way. Good video anyway. I agree with all your points. Cheers

I love your videos, Hilton! You help enhance the XF experience with your obvious passion for the vehicle, and the unique aspects of its ownership and operation. I would add to your item #2, the welcome, or "handshake" of the vehicle, the compelling invitation of the pulsating start button. I know there have been conflicting statements from Jaguar as to the significance of the 72 beats/minute pulsation rate (whether it was calibrated to the human heart or the resting heart rate of a live jaguar). My personal opinion is that the "Jaguar" tweeter who tagged it as designed after the human heart was spreading false information. Jaguar engineers and designers are far too intentional to miss the opportunity to calibrate it to a jaguar's heart rate and rhythm. According to my research, the normal range of a jaguar's heart rate is 70-140, depending on how agitated they are. Cats have a four-chamber heart, just as do humans, thus the "lub-LUB" of the start-button pulsation. I also love the ignition exhaust roar, which is reportedly tuned to approximate one of the large feline's characteristic growls. Having listened to recordings of live jaguars, I think the engineers have done a pretty good job! As you noted, all combine in a very compelling, "Let's go for a ride"! I also agree with your #1. The refined elegance of the XF's lines and overall design belies the explosive power and precision performance waiting for you to put it in gear. It can't be explained, really--it can only be experienced. The best I can do to explain it is the feeling I had when we visited our son's family for Christmas. It was too far to drive during the limited time my wife had off, so we left the XF at home and flew. After the first couple of days, I found myself truly missing my XF, wishing I could walk out to the driveway and go for a spin. Unfortunately, everything else is now just "a car"....

Great video. Where did you find the footrest? I've been looking for one for my 09 model, but all the ones advertised seem to be for the later models so I'm not sure if they'll fit. Such a shame they've got rid of the rising gear selector and revolving air vents, as well as the flush mounted almost hidden button for the glove box. Why does so-called progress always have to mean we lose out?
@carfanfan3 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. I got the pedals on AliExpress. They were actually a set but I didn't fancy drilling into the pedals so I fitted the footrest only to prevent my carpet from getting black stains from mechanic shoes. In a way, I'm glad Jag went away from the vents, the rising selector and the glovebox button. Because now these XF's will become sought after classics 😉. We have something special ☺️

I recently mulled over a 2008 XF diesel and took it for a test drive and fell in love with it. On my test drive I pulled over to get another look at it then reached into the glove box to check the log book, lo and behold I found a service receipt from the previous owner listing his phone number and phoned him to ask him why he had sold it. He explained to me that there was a problem with the gear box and was going to cost $25000 (that's right) to fix so he traded it to say the least. I returned it to the dealer, a well known one on the Gold Coast, Australia and never to be heard from again. So disappointed that it didn't work out. T

@carfanfan7 жыл бұрын
Hey Jon, I'm happy to report that I have not. Here are some things that could set it off though, slight movement while parked and locked, such as the parking brake not holding well on a steep hill, being bumped or rocked while activated, a small critter trapped inside the car or a bug such as a fly or gecko or both :D (had a gecko in my Audi once and it kept setting off the alarm on my Audi). It climbed in there while I was cleaning the interior once. The audio sonic sensors are pretty sensitive and will pick up any movement inside the car. It would help to check the fault code - here's a link you may find useful www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xf-xfr-x250-44/did-you-now-xf-xk-has-built-code-reader-64709/

76ers Its been surprisingly reliable. Going for its annual service next month and all they need to do is the service, nothing else. Its very solid, no rattles or squeaks. It has 93,000km on the odo now so the XF's are pretty solid cars.

I took a 2012 (with 75k miles) for a test drive from the Jaguar dealership and within 15miles, white smoke started coming out of the engine. I had to pull over on side of the road and have them tow the car back to the dealership. The next day I went to a different dealership to try a 2013 Jag XF with (32k miles). As soon as I turned on the ignition, the "Check Engine" light was on. :(
@carfanfan7 жыл бұрын
That's really bad. After chatting to various technicians at the Jaguar dealership, they informed me that they only service these cars because there are never issues where they have any major issues with the XF's. They told me they have plenty problems and warranty claims on the Range Rovers and Discoveries. Mostly with the suspension and drive-train. With the experience I've had with my XF, I can vouch for their confidence in the XF - I have zero issues. The Audi on the other hand constantly wanted attention. I don't think German cars are as good as they used to be. The XF is a good bet - just be wise when you buy a 2nd hand one - ensure it has full service history and call the dealer who serviced the car to find out its warranty history - mine had zero warranty claims.
@76ers7 жыл бұрын
The cars look really nice but these issues have really crippled my confidence towards purchasing one. It sucks when you have to constantly worry that something will go wrong with the car at any moment. I'll be going through those service history for sure.
