We love JT!!! ❤️ You're such a likeable guy, JT, but also, the respect and appreciation and willingness to learn that you show towards British people and culture is what made people fall in love with your content. No arrogance, no assumptions; just fun, happiness and a genuine interest in the UK. Keep it up, you're great.

"That's what makes y'all y'all". I have never heard a more Kentucky comment in my life :) So many Americans don't know much about the UK (or anywhere in the rest of the world) and don't want to learn. Seeing an American who's keen to learn, is genuine and respectful, and is enjoying the journey - that's wonderful.

The main thing I appreciate more than love is our NHS. I am British but have spent many years in the US too, not for a long time though. Got my green card in the mid 80's when I was young and fit and the last time I was there was in 1999 when I was still fit but not so young. I am now in my late 50's and have had a string of medical problems which if I had been in America would have cost me over half a million dollars. Our NHS is very good but it can take a while to get seen!

Hi JT, I'm from the Orkney Islands, in the North of Scotland. We were part of Norway before we were annexed to Scotland in 1472. We have loads of history, including the Unesco World Heritage Site, the Heart of Neolithic Orkney, which is 3 x 5000 year old stone age sites. Love your enthusiasm in your videos.👍

I think the reason you've earned the respect of us brits is your genuine passion an interest in learning about our Country. Like, I'm not remotely patriotic, but it's nice to see an American that doesn't just assume they're right all the time understands that differences between us don't always have to be a competition lol

What I love about your channel is you genuinely want to learn about our country, you are very repectful to all of us, and you have a great sense of humour, and we Brits love a good piss take, its not as good as in the past as we are currently suffering from cancel culture in the country, comedians are actually avoiding live shows because of the snowflakes and backlash they get for a jkoke that may offend a minority of people. Jennifer Saunders doesn't want to make anymore Absolutely Fabulous episodes because 9f the cancel culture that exists here now.

My favourite era of uk history is the Victorians. They brought Christmas as it is today to uk, they created the first stamps, the architecture, the first schools (bringing education to more people), the wallpaper designs, the music, the furniture, plus the way the rich lived is fascinating. Then everything about the monarchy. Iv been watching stuff on victorian history for years and I still don’t know everything.

Interesting fact my ancestors the lombards brought Christmas/Yuletide to Germany before reaching England there from Scania Sweden originally called the winnili odin is the original father Christmas the lombards celebrated Odin more than other tribes as they were his favorite tribe and gave them there name Lombard meaning long beards and granted them victory over there enemies the vandals they were called Long beards because the women fought beside the men with there hair over there faces to appear more intimidating

@thebristolianmackem2039 yes aspects of Christmas came from Germany to england from I think prince Albert's sidecofvthe family? But queen Victoria's family popularised it and added things to make it what it is today. I also think the person who put together the components to make Christmas crackers was invented it in victorian era (although the separate parts may have been invented earlier).

We can smell bs from waaay off so watching someone who is genuinely eager to learn about us Brits and our looooong history is quite flattering. Especially in an age where nations histories are misrepresented and cancel culture is so pervasive. The fact that you & Anna take time and seem to enjoy our culture is wonderful to watch. Not forgetting your surname, chances are your ancestors played a part in our history too. My favourite parts of UK history has to be WWII When Britain stood alone despite the odds, immortalised in Sir Winston Churchill's "We will fight them on the beaches" speech. Followed by the Falklands war.

I first met American back in 1965. I was a Nanny for an American Air Force Captain and his wife. They would take me to our local AirForce Base and I met a shed load of fresh faced 18 year old GIs who were on their way to Nam. Not all of them came back, it was heart breaking as a young 15 1/2 year old. The memories of that time stays with me to this day. Oh yes some of the lads taught me to drink JD! 🤣🤣

My family team is Manchester United when they’re doing well or not they’re my boys. Bobby Charlton has always been my hero. You are so welcome to come here and enjoy the richness of our little country and it’s history. We are not just London, in fact we are sick of London sucking the rest of the country dry. I’m from Lancaster and 25 miles down the road I’d Preston and difference in our accents is astounding. It ticks me off when we’re critical of our traditional food, but we eat what we grow and one of the best tings you can have is a Sunday roast beef dinner, but please don’t make me eat Yorkshire Pudding, I’m from Lancashire, we don’t want that over baked pancake, my dad called it fill belly, we just eat more beef and all the sides. I’d love to sit you down, feed you up and tell you about my family that came over from Ireland about 1630, they settled in a little village on the river Lune, and all these years later I can see the river lune from my home, I’m on the other side of the river though. We like to eat, drink, laugh and shoot the breeze. Have fun and a happy life to you all.

Your comment about sports supporters is correct. I taught my niece and nephews a true supporter is there through thick and thin. We have Welsh heritage so we support Welsh Rugby and soccer. My nephew has supported Brighton and Hove Albion as long as we remember. The last few years we watched them rise until now they are playing in Europe. He also supports an obscure Welsh (small town) club and at University wears their colours in soccer training. His English grandfather was upset when my nephew told him his ambition was to represent Wales rather than England in sports.

That ending was so sweet! Love you JT! 😄 5 things I love about the UK: the comedy, the music, people being friendly and chill, the NHS and... the eccentrics (as in, eccentric British people, of whom it's often said we have many, and it's true 😛). My single favourite thing is this though: My friend's mum is Japanese and she once said to us "Every time I apologise for my English, whoever I'm talking to, without exception, responds with 'Hey, that's alright, it's better than my Japanese'" 😂 She must have thought it was a conspiracy, she sounded exasperated, but there are a million little jokes like this that come to every British person's mind when the situation presents itself - it's like it's hard-coded 😂

Hi JT, My favourite part of British history is The Elizabethan Era. Elizabeth the 1st was an incredible woman. Her mother ( Anne Boleyn) was beheaded by her father ( Henry the eighth) and her whole life she had to watch her back as so many people wanted her dead including her half sister. Yet she lived to old age and outwitted all the powerful men which in those days ( when women were second class citizens) I would say she was the best Queen we ever had 👑✌

my fave part of British history is basically the whole period from when Julius Caeser popped over and had a few battles, through the whole Roman period, to the Anglo-Saxon period then BAM Viking invasion, (from around 50BC to basically 1066 and William the Conquerer) a time full of mini kingdoms within Britain. The accent thing is crazy, my accent is very different from the town 2 miles south of me, and even more different than the group of small villages half a mile north

Humour is a part of British everyday life as well as something we enjoy on TV or on stage. Brits have this thing we call 'banter', which is constantly poking fun at each other in a friendly way. When we are out with friends, particularly in a pub when the drinks are flowing, we gently 'take the p*ss' (as we say) out of each other. You can generally tell how comfortable and relaxed a British person is with you by the number of times they make fun of you. This banter also used to happen in the workplace with colleagues, but it is sadly dying out in white collar jobs.

My favourite point of British history is a grim one but 1888. To say I'm quietly obsessed with a lot of what happened during the Jack the Ripper period just might be understating it; the history of London at that point and the malevolence of JtR has always been deeply intriguing to me and that dates back to my school years when it was first talked about. I've read countless books, gone on the walk around tours and I'm still as taken by the history of this now as I was then.

My favourite part of UK history is simply the sweep, across time. Looking out the windiw of my stone house I can see fields where 3000yo farms have left a mark, to a beach where Christian saints preached in the 6thC and went out to convert England and Ireland. The 12thC cathedral stand here too, Georgian and Victorian Town houses, the relics of Victorian industry of slate, copper and coal mining. There is such a rich tapestry, to always find something new in the old.

Best point in UK history- Battle of Britain - watch the 13 hours that saved Britain its so interesting. Second choice would have to be the wars of the roses.

British ww2 history based around aircraft were interesting. Britain made a aircraft in ww2 called a mosquito but the intressing part was it was ment to be bilut in the first place they made it behind the Grovement back. The 2 second is it was made out of wood and the 3rd thing is it had no weapons apart from bombs in the elyer model's. And teh 4th thing was it was one of Britain's fastest aircraft ever made during that time it could out run a Spitfire.

What you said about sports teams is definitely true. My Dad is originally from Northern Ireland but moved to England when he was 7. When he moved he started watching Bury FC and in 53 years he has never missed a home match not even 1 and he can count on one hand the amount of away matches hes missed. Hes raised me as a Bury fan and ive been watching them for 30 years and now my son comes with us and has done since he was 5 weeks old 😊. Love the video JT ❤

On the subject of our accents, here's one for you. I live in a large town of just over 200,000 people (so not even a city) that has at least three very distinct, different accents. The East and North of the town's accent sounds very similar to what you'd hear in Manchester, the West of the town has very soft Merseyside influences and "South of the River" as we say here, there is a very distinct Cheshire accent. Where am I talking about? Warrington.

It’s true about the British accent for super villains! My boss has a British accent and she’s one of the worst villains of all time. Ok, I’m British and live in Britain, and so is she. But she’s still a villain**! And I’m not just saying that because I have an annual performance review coming up. ** I reserve the right to change this opinion if I get a good review from her…

I love the period of the Roman invasion, and the buildings they left behind, but it's so hard to choose just one period. I love the Tudors too.

You need to follow Liverpool comebacks and the YNWA (You'll Never Walk Alone) being sung at Anfield... or when 3-0 down to AC Milan in the Champions League Final.. only to comeback. I'm biases, best fans in the world..watch the Australians sing to Liverppol when down under on tour... goosebumps.. watch the 4-3 comeback against Barcelona (including Messi and Suarez).... amazing

If you ever wanted to do the odd fishing react video there are a couple of UK shows you might want to look at JT. Mortimer and Whitehouse Gone Fishing, this show has Paul Whitehouse (fast show and many others) Comedic actor and Bob Mortimer (of Reeves and Mortimer fame). Also another Actor, Robson Green, has done a number of Fishing TV shows. Both of these type shows not only show fishing but parts of the country you might not always see in more touristy style videos. And they present with humour which is always a bonus especially as you like British humour, this is generally of a more gentle sort though rather than cutting edge.
