"I Love Lucy" wasn't a morality play but it's still good entertainment. Though I've never been a fan of fantasy I do enjoy the work the writers did creating those scripts for the actors to read to us. It would be nice to control the fantasy world as long as I'm the one doing all the controlling.

I have every episode of Leave it to Beaver. After my father passed away, I had Mom move into my house. She lived with me for 5 years. Every morning we would sit down and watch some of her favorite shows while having a couple cups of coffee. Leave it to Beaver was her favorite, and before I knew it, it became one of mine. Mom is now 91 and unfortunately suffering from dementia and is in Hospice and we are unable to visit her. She is suffering from heart failure but we still cannot visit her. This covid19 is causing so much emotional stress. Mom will more than likely die alone. I will always have the memory of her and I sharing those mornings together watching the Beave.

But that lady Mrs Cleaver always have been a great representation of my mother. Raising us boys wasn't easy but she was always there to make peace out of war just like Mrs Cleaver she was a homemaker at the sametime trying to be pretty and neatly dressed with makeup and eye lashes. This show always brings back great memories....of my childhood. I think we all modeled lives from this show....LOL thanks again.

I love leave it to beaver as well. Just last year my wife and I watched all the episodes and really enjoyed it. What people do not realize is in the 50's & 60's we had censorship, why? because today's TV is what we get when we don't have it and society pays the price, doesn't it? The show was a great moral show and Ward always explained what each episode was really about at the end of the show. It was one of the best shows in TV History in my book!!!

In the article I read about this, Tony Dow commented very few people involved with The Louvre show were familiar with his acting career and that is exactly how he preferred it. He wanted his art to stand on its own merits rather than given a free pass as work done by someone already well-known and accomplished in another field. His art work also helped him with his depressive bouts.

Growing up in the late 50's and early 60's, my childhood mirrored LITB (except I didnt end up stuck in a coffee cup on a billboard). The older brother. The loving parents (who were married close to 60 years). My neighborhood 2 best friends ( we were 3 months apart in age), their older brothers and parents/neighbors who knew your first name and watched after you. On a hot summer's night, playing baseball in the middle of the street and being invited to go swimming at a neighbor's pool after the game. Walking back to your house after midnight without a care in the world. It truly a wonderful and innocent time growing up.

Thank you for making this video. You are absolutely right on saying the word for this show was kindness. It also had a gentle sense of humor. But this show was never sappy or overly sweet or maudlin. It was perfect. Bob Mosher and Bill Connolly were on target. Not to mention Florence Bush the hair dresser.😁Yes, I memorized the credits. Tony Dow is a pretty interesting guy. Obviously very good looking as a teen and as a man he could’ve got by on his looks as lots of good looking people do. I remember an interview he did on A & E once talking about how he didn’t really like being bombarded by girls when he was on the beach during breaks from filming the show. He digs deep. I love his sculptures. Too bad I could never afford one but I still check in on his work online. He’s an amazing sculptor! I never knew of his service to our country. Of all the amazing tv programming from in the past ten years that are cinematic and intense I still count LITB as my all time favorite tv show. I never get tired of it. I never cared for the other family themed shows like Father Knows Best because it was from the adult’s point of view where LITB was from the kid’s point of view. It respected children’s feelings. Thank you again. Awesome info on Mr. Dow and all the other actors on the show. ☮️🦋📺💕👌 🤔Wasn’t it called The Adventures of Beaver and Wally at first but changed because it sounded like a nature show? I think it was also called Its A Small World 🌎 too. Love your Beave videos and happy to find a couple more in my channel feed. Please continue to share your research and insights on my favorite tv show. 🤩

hi dave, another wonderful insight into a great supporting television actor. leave it to beaver is a certified classic series without doubt. i have seen interviews of tony dow before and could sense that he was a kind and genuine person.. i did not know that he was dealing with depression though. i really loved that whole cast! thanks for another fun and interesting video, stay well, rob

I often wondered how Tony and Jerry’s real life compared to the show. Honestly, I don’t honk I would have wanted to go home based on how I felt while watching the show. Although i had a very happy childhood, sometimes actors don’t always get handed a truly happy existence outside the walls of Hollywood. I always have at least 10 episodes of Beaver recorded so I can lift my mood and return to my childhood of the 50”s. My brother had the exact same picture of the cowboy on a horse, over his bed as they did on the wall in their bedroom. They also had the nautical bedroom light we had also. I think most of the set design and furniture etc. was purchased at Sears back then. Best show there ever was that expressed moralistic values.

Another great video! I loved Tony Dow -I always wondered how he felt as a teenager working with a woman as beautiful as Barbara Billingsley( and calling her mom!). I bet he had a crush on her at some point. Oh well just something I thought about over the years watching the show.

I'm not sure how he felt back then...but I do know that he cherished her friendship throughout the years.

I grew up in a large house in Queens, NY. My parents were great! (Born in 1952). The neighbors all looked out for the kids! I'd come home from school and watch the "beav".. I had a huge crush on Wally!! Now Sally and Eddie are gone...So sad..I'm 70 now, my day will come someday soon!
