_Being a diehard resto-mod motorhead, you're absolutely right about having that professional inspection done before pulling the trigger. Even on all original vehicles(especially classic Corvettes), it's important to remember that you'll be tasked with repairing work that wasn't done properly. Overall great points about deciding if a resto-mod or an original classic car is right for you and your wallet._

OJ I love your artful adjusted quote "with great horsepower cones great responsibility". Very well applied and great advice. I have seen too many shiny projects end up as crumpled wrecks over the years because of not heading that very salient advice. Keep the videos coming they are great!
@FluidMotorUnion Жыл бұрын
Lots of modded cars coming through the shop over the years has left me a bit stoic... What I've learned is that swapping in all the horsepower in the world won't make a great car alone, it's about balance, and that balance is determined by the current owner. You really need to self evaluate before you make a purchase of someone else's idea of "balance" or it will turn to regret.

I don’t want customers buying a car they love only to find out it needs major work from us… we’d much rather do the regular maintenance items than re doing a power steering system because there’s too much assist at highway speeds! It’s easier to have happy customers that way so this needed to be said.

Great advice O.J. It's amazing how most muscle cars of the 60's & 70's would be outperformed by the average economy car today. A properly designed resto-mod can be a enjoyable option.

This is the idea. Have classic looks with modern performance. Builders and buyers just have to remember, it’s more than just swapping an engine!

Thanks OJ. I was already second guessing my plan to LS swap a 560 SL, and now I believe I will let that idea go. On the surface I think it would be cool, but I also think there will be more hurdles to overcome than I'm willing to take on. This video may have helped save my money and mostly my sanity...

Great advice. After buying 73 cuda that was running and driving ish and spending over 45k on parts and swapping it. Def hit every point of the head the amount of work and frustration of figuring it out. Hiring people for a lot of it. Becomes overwhelming. I ended up selling it just cause just storing it felt an extreme. Def would have done it differently for next time
@FluidMotorUnion Жыл бұрын
It's hard to say what the "right" way to do it would be, but having an idea on what it's going to realistically cost can really keep you from making bad decisions.

That’s a tall order for a small operation like us! Our big problem is devoting time away from fixing cars to content is an investment in the future, as we’re just trying to pay the bills. But honestly with all the wild cars that come through here, we got enough content for daily. Tell ya what, let’s just call it a future goal…!

We’ve seen so many cool projects that get bought come in with great expectations, only to have the owners get struck with the reality of owning it. Nothing wrong with us making money, but we rather happy customers, and telling someone their dream is actually a nightmare makes that more difficult to achieve!
