May the Lord protect us all from the curly hair gatekeepers 🙄. To anyone telling people with wavy hair that they have no business styling their hair this way or that way: YOU actually have no business worrying about what other people are doing with their hair. MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS! I have curly hair and I find it appalling when a wavy haired person is told stupid things by rude people.

Same here. I'm a wavy girl so I don't bother with the "curly cuts" and my stylist knows exactly how to shape and layer my hair to get the most curl definition when I go to style it. I really do feel like we have it easier sometimes than girls who have 3a and above curly hair. We can get curls when we want them, go straight with little effort, and get inexpensive hair cuts from a regular stylist. I used to wish so hard that my hair was super type 3 curly, but more and more I've come to love my wavy hair. I think watching your channel has definitely helped with that!!

Wow… the part about needing a cast because your hair is getting healthy spoke to my soul. I have just been using a curl cream as a styler for a long time now. My hair is feeling so much better and looking shiny… but flat. I’ve done the other things like clarifying, bond repairs and a trim. I was avoiding the gels because my hair felt like straw when I used them… 4-5 months ago. I’ll give one a whirl next wash day. Thanks Courtney!!!

Me too in regards to gels causing my hair to look stringy and or straw hair. Olaplex fixed a whole lot of my damage especially #3 and #8 for moisture. I've never had oily hair in my life which is probably why my hair is so dang dry all the time, but having curly hair does that to your hair anyway which is why I have to keep on forking out for biweekly Olaplex treatments. It's such a huge difference after the first time I used it my hair was shiny and soft and way, way curlier with natural ringlets allover my head. All this time I thought I was 2C with waffle iron (the crimping iron look was my natural look before I started curl journey) curl texture but in actuality my hair was so straw-like that it just couldn't spiral like it's supposed to. Like having a whole new head of hair so I'm grateful to this channel for sending me on my way to healthy hair and other channels. Whoever told me to try Olaplex 3 I owe them big haha! My hair is now 3a/3b and I attribute most to Olaplex although I did switch shampoos and have tried many curl creams and custards. Marc Antony Hydrating curl cream and Kinky Curly custard seem to work best for me but I don't need much.

I have just used the Ouidad 8:22 water works shampoo followed by lots of conditioner, then rinsed thoroughly and tried the 4U by Tia Curl Defining Gel.. And let it air dry, then diffused a bit. Wow!!! Hardest gel cast ever!! Scrunched/ clapped it out, and oh my! I have never had such awesome curls before! Thank you for all of your advice!

You're not kidding about the Pattern Mask Treatment! Holy shrinkage batman, I just tired it this morning after clarifying and it was AMAZING! My hair is SOO much more bouncy and curly! I also just got the Briogio gel and tried that on top my itself and while I may have put on too much (it felt like my hair sucked up the first amount that I put on) so far I really like it, will be scrunching it out shortly!

So, you talk about if someone HAD nice curls and then didn't, what about someone who's always had straight hair, never knew anything about curly hair, and as a post-menopausal cancer survivor (no chemo, just radiation) I found that my hair was actually curly. It's barely curly, except at the base of my neck, but still curly. My hair is waist length, which I realize will stretch out the curls. But is there something I should be doing to train my hair? I don't really care if the curls show, I just want to get rid of the frizz. I use an old t-shirt instead of a towel, food for soft shampoo and conditioner, garnier leave in conditioner, and I'm between gels at the moment, but I just got a cheap one. I also air-dry after plopping with the t-shirt because I don't have a diffuser. Thanks for any help! I thought about calling the beauty college and asking if they could give me a trim and tell me about curly hair while taking care of me. 🤷♀

How do I know if I need a bond repair?
@StefanieMorgan-b3r8 ай бұрын
Typically, you would benefit from this if your hair is damaged (we all have some extent of damage from mechanical damage in styling, environmental damage from the sun and then chemical processes like lightening and coloring with peroxide based ingredients). Even when my hair was at its best, the Curlsmith Bond Salve really helped me with curl retention. Hope that helps ❤

How do you determine hair porosity?? I know i have fine dense wavy hair but i have no idea about porosity
@christiemese8 ай бұрын
Courtney sent in a sample to a lab a few years ago to find out her porosity. Generally, healthy, un-bleached hair is lower porosity. Those of us who color or heat style or have other types of damage are more likely to be higher porosity. Low porosity hair takes a while to get wet, water rolls off. High porosity gets wet in seconds.

I'm a newbie here, please help me get this... the clarifying pantene shampoo has sulfates in order to clean the buildup; but, is there any effect on your hair by using sulfate free shampoos for a prolonged period of time? I've always had 3a to 3b curls, now all of a sudden my hair is getting straight. I'm not correlating the two, but just giving insight as to what made me wonder this!
