Good Afternoon Jose..I have Canon Pro-100, Bought it used, came with Generic Ink called "Moustache" I use the printer with same ink for the print pattern, Now I bought Genuine Canon CLI-42 Ink, when compare prints from both, the black is not good on Canon Genuine Ink..any suggestions...Thanks

Hi Jose. Great information. I am looking at getting into printing at home and researching printers. I've heard that when editing photos for print your monitor brightness should be set to half. What is your opinion on this? Should my monitor ALWAYS be at half brightness regardless for print or web use? Whats your experience with this?

I work on a semi darkened room and primarily use my PC for editing Video and Images so however things look like to on the internet to me are irrelevant. I and you do not really know what Half Brightness means in actual CD/M2 which is the measurement used for describing monitor brightness. Let's just say, it would be rather dim if you are viewing your screen in normal brightly lit room. If you set it at your normal bright setting. Everything you print ( Photo wise ) will look Darker than your monitor. When I calibrate my Monitor with my X-Rite Colormunki Photo I choose 80 CD/M2 from as bright as 160 so in other words That is the darkest setting it allows! But take a look at some of my Color Management videos using the computer and tell me if that look too dark to you. Think of it as watching a movie at the theater with the lights one as when they are playing the previews and then after the lights are fully turned down. I know it sounds strange but trust me!

Would you edit two different photos? One for web viewing and one for printing? Since most people aren’t using calibrated monitors on facebook flickr etc.

Then you would also have to edit them in a non calibrated monitor. I really don't care too much about anything going up to flicker or Facebook. I edit on my Calibrated screen and if theirs does not "See" them as good as on my display. Oh well.

Thanks for the tips Jose. Question: How long after you get the low ink warning should you replace the cartridge in order to get the most from that cartridge? How low can you let it go before you print issues? I have a Canon Pro 10. Thanks and really appreciate everything you do on the channel.

Let them go till empty. Only Sponge type carts fr the PRO-100 should be refilled when the reach low. Never empty.

Hi, Jose. Great videos here. What is your opinion in using a printing app like, Printao8, Epson Print Layout, and the Canon software? My opinion is that it cuts down on making some of the mistakes you mentioned in the video.

PrintTao is a rip. And I have not used any except for the beta of PrintFab before it went $$$. Love the Epson layout tool and PSP.

Not that far off. I used to be able to change film rolls on Leica 33mm while hanging on a harness from a Huey Chopper shooting special forces members of my unit jumping! Those were the days.

Hey Jose, I’ve watched many of your videos and I was thinking if you could accept my constructive criticism for your video. If not than take it for what it is. With all the tips you give, could you add a quick video clips showing what you’re talking about. Showing what to do either on the computer, printer, etc. thank you for your videos and hard work making them.

I do agree but often I only have a couple of hours open on any given day to shoot it edit it and post it. Adding Screen recordings would take way too much time to then splice all that in. I do have many At the Computer and very recently added a couple of Premieres that showed extensive demos at the computer and the printer. But I appreciate your input and I am always looking to improve the content.

I don't think I gave out the source that I use for 100% Genuine OEM printheads. Be very careful with EBAY as you often get just a partial print head and no the complete unit. www.inkjetprinthead.com/canon_printhead_for_pixma_pro-1.htm And thanks for the plug!
