My only issue with the Rebel 500 is when my local Honda Motorcycle Dealer will get a new shipment.

Ahhh, yeah... it's a crap show right now with trying to find any model that's remotely a good seller. It's crazy to think about just how much luck it takes, to simply find a new bike to buy these days. Maybe we'll have some sort of normalcy back in 2024, without being a "Debbie Downer", 2023 isn't looking like it'll be much better from what I see, unless things start to change real quick!

@@ronmendoza1274 you are right, mine didnt, and for next two months they didnt get one either. Then i expanded my search and found one 2 hours away in another powerhouse store and hauled it home. #6: they are rare. Almost nobody has them. #7: You will pay a high mark up if you find one. #8: insurance is one of the cheapest, like almost half if you compare it to the CBR500. I really want one, but with my economy, either I wait a year to save the extra $2k for the 500cc or buy a 300cc, learn and pay it off in 3 years and from there I might even go for the 1100. Insurance is a big factor that nobody's talks and to me it will be my main form of transportation, so saving counts. My quoted insurance ranges from $700 a year for a used 2020-300cc to $1,150 from a new 2022-500cc (full coverage and with newly licensed in SoCal, I'm a 34 year male with clean record)
@willyjimmy88812 жыл бұрын
Holy cow that's pricey insurance for a motorcycle. I pay $18 a month on my cb500x and less than that for my Grom.
@HondaProKevin2 жыл бұрын
lol you're not wrong there! Well, the only I could debate on is for #7 as that just means you need to find a better dealer ;) I know that's easier said than done these days but there are a few "good apples" left out there so-to-say, that aren't gouging people with mark-ups. Sadly, they are few and far between these days though and even more so considering where you live as CA has some of the highest mark-ups in the US on bikes. Oh yeah, insurance is definitely a big factor in it all. The main reason I don't mention insurance costs as they can vary soooo much but that is something I need to start playing around with more to see if I can incorporate into the videos. The numbers you mentioned though, seem pretty high from my experience so I would definitely do some shopping around. Finding a deal as good as Willy, may be a little difficult as I'd kill for insurance that cheap lol but that seems steep for the type of bike you're looking at, considering you're not a "kid" and you have a clean record. Maybe the SoCal part plays a big role in that premium though?

The quickest way to check as anyone can throw ABS stickers on there etc is by looking at the inside of the brake rotor. On this bike, if you notice at the 3:32 mark the front rotor is smooth but if it has ABS - you'll see an ABS ring on the inside portion of the rotor. Hope that helps and best of luck on the hunt ;)

A cruiser motorcycle needs low rpm torque, not horsepower and this engine has none. So for me it is a non-starter. The trouble with Honda is they are lazy, they take one engine, usually from a sports bike and then put it in everything. Then people like you quote stats and that doesn't mean anything. The Indian bikes do it the right way and get the Brits to do the design, so the best of both words, British design and production set up Indian manufacture. So you get great looks and ride-ability.
