ive noticed if im really struggling to pickup on a certain scratch or pattern ill just try it 20-30 min a day so i dont get frustrated. after 2-3 weeks youll notice how much progress has been made

They way I figured out the 2-click flare was that it was just a 1-click with a transformer in the middle! So your advice really is true, you need to learn those fundamentals no matter how small!

Nice!! And yes, couldn’t agree more! Everything is so much easier to learn moving forward when you have the fundamentals down.

For newer users, Rane One is a $1,400 controller that has motorized platters. As does the Numark controllers like the NS7 series.

Hayyyy Liftoff!!! I’ve been practicing my scratches for a while now I’ve gotten pretty good at em but now the issue is what exactly to do with them, connecting them to make patterns n all that. How does one know which ones to connect. How did u over come this? Thanks for the videos as always always lookin forward to seeing them 👍🏽
@DJLiftOFF3 жыл бұрын
Heyy Joiii!! That might be another great video idea actually. I think I’ll use go over 5 different scratch patterns that are relatively easy that connect different types of scratches to create a pattern. Me personally, watching other DJs helped me the most. Learning the actual scratches gives you hand movements, but learning longer patterns is what you’ll actually use during a set. After a while, you’ll naturally just start forming them together, but I also recommend just playing around with baby and chirp scratches, letting the platter go and bringing it back, and trying to form your own connections. You’ll be surprised at what you might come up with!

How did you get into scratching? Did it come natural? What was your biggest setbacks or discouragements
@DJLiftOFF3 жыл бұрын
I got in to scratching by literally thinking that "I have to know how to scratch" in order to be a "good DJ". This is back in college when I first began DJ'ing. I can honestly say that it DID NOT come natural whatsoever. When I first started scratching, it seemed almost impossible to even drop a song at the right time, let alone actually do any scratch patterns. I quit a few times before really sticking it out and practicing everyday. Discouragement itself was probably my biggest set back due to the difficulty of getting the basics down. Mixing came pretty easy for me, song selection, etc.. but scratching was always that one thing that tripped me up for a long time. However, after repeatedly practicing day after day, the motions started to become natural before I knew it. It's almost like strength training, where it's hard to see your progress day by day, but after a few weeks/months, you notice how much better you got.

What are the so called fundamentals?.., can you make a video on that?
@DJLiftOFF3 жыл бұрын
I would consider the fundamentals the bare bones of scratching including: how to even move your hand back and forth and where to place your hand, baby scratches, understanding basic patterns in your head, then the chirp scratch which introduces the crossfader in a very basic way. If those things are something you think would be helpful, I can definitely make a “the fundamentals to begin your scratch journey” video.

The only issue I have w these videos is that when you use the ahhh sound as a reference with no background sound, they mute it. Honestly who copyright the ahhh sound? 🤦🏽♀️😩
