I think it's a good point to remember when tre-flipping: Once you have your back foot pressure, make sure you still pop your board directly down like and ollie, then add the scooping motion. If you scoop more than pop the board will go a little wild and get away from you. If you're struggling to get consistent, try just popping straight down, and jumping straight up. It's surprising that you sometimes forget to jump when you're concentrating on the flipping so much.

Took me about 6 one hour sessions of trying nonstop Tre flips (probably well over a thousand in total) and I finally landed one and rolled away today, after about 40 where I landed either primo or landed and flew off the board or lost balance. Landing a Tre flip was on my bucket list and had been haunting me for years. This video was the final key I needed to unlock it - thanks for making it!

Been trying this trick for years, finally starting to get it more solid lately. One tip if you're under rotating the flip and catching the board upside-down is to lift your feet more to allow the board to rotate, almost like sucking the knees up to the chest. Leaning forward to much, yeah that is my probem in a nutshell. I have a perfect rotation of the board and a perfect flip, but I always get the board to far behind me, just so I barely misses it with my front foot, sometimes I land with both feet on the board, but way to far up the nose to be able to roll away. The problem is that there is a clear difference between knowing the problem and actually doing something about it. :-P When I try to lean back more, the rest of my technique totally falls apart. I have struggled with this problem almost a year know. But I am not giving up damn it! xD Good video!
@psirus897 жыл бұрын
your technique doesnt fail, because you cant do the flip or the scoop. Your technique fails, because if you lean back, you have to commit again to the trick, that you havent done yet. You know how the board behaves when you lean forward, and youre not scared of whats about to happen, because you know. My advise Id give to you is, lean so much back, that you cant reach the board with your backfoot after the rotation. Practice stopping the rotation with your front foot, and just slam it down, with your backfoot not even trying to land on the board. From there you should try lean forward juuuuuuust a little bit, and the next try more, and the next try more until your at the right angle, where you could actually land on the board and roll away, but then you gonna notice, that your feet will stop again committing to the trick and thats where you just have to suck it up and commit. The first time you gonna land on the board, you might slip and land and your ass, happened to me. The try after that I landed it :) and now I can do them pretty consistently. I promise, its all in your head.
@fd_skate7 жыл бұрын
I think you are spot on in your analysis. I have no problem catching it with my front foot when deliberately stepping off the board with my back foot, because that makes me lean back more automatically. I need to re-learn the teqhnique (scoop and flip) with another weight distribution. I am definitely going to try your suggestion with leaning so far back that I cannot reach the board with the back foot. And yeah, I agree that it's probably equally much a mental challenge as well as a technical one. Thanks for the great support man! I will try the suggestions the next time I go skating! :-)
@macdaddy17445 жыл бұрын

@fd_skate5 жыл бұрын
@DB Cooper's MoneyBags I am closer, but still sadly far away. I think my issues are threefold. 1. I need to lean back more but that messes up my balance. I need to work on that more. 2. My scoop is week. No matter how much I commit, I seem to have a really lame scoop. 3. Commitment. It's lacking. xD That being said, it feels like I am getting closer but suuuuuper slowly! xD

Having the back foot flat on the tail is what helped me getting a scoop with maximum power but much less effort. Stretching out your foot is part of the scooping motion. If it's already stretched, you would need much more effort of the rest of your leg to get the board around. At least that's the case for me. Changing the back foot from pointy to flat made the trick much easier in terms of the effort I had to put into the scoop, because there is much more room for the ankle to do the desired movement it takes to accomplish the scoop. But like I said, that's just what helped me. Maybe it's bullshit for everyone else..
