Hey Avery, I don't have a sewing machine but I've done very basic shit by just cutting up some pants in the past. I remember one night at like 2AM I took some jeans that I don't wear and just cropped them with scissors, I now cuff them up once and have a frayed look on them. Think I'm gonna do more shit like that with jeans I buy from second hand shops. Why am I writing this

Try doubling the thread and tying a knot at the end, then pull the next stitch through that knot creating a loop around the fabric. That way it won't come off

For the buttons, because you're using a less than ideal needle, just try tie your knot at the end multiple times on top of each other , basically creating a thicker knot. :)

@GearedTowardGear7 жыл бұрын
Great idea^ You could also add more fabric and use some crazy pattern, but too much and it'll look flared. If you havent yet cut out the excess then you can rip out the seam and retry!
@ronaldlandis53127 жыл бұрын
might mess around and add a strip of wild fabric to the outside of each legs up to where the cargo pocket starts. i feel like if i added fabric to the inseam it would look whack. thanks for the tips bruv. cheers from philly.

@c2d8957 жыл бұрын
Do you have any recommendations for cropped vintage jeans?
@rickymania1017 жыл бұрын
To make buttons holes you do need practice but its easy to learn. First you need a good machine that preferably has a button hole setting. Especially one that can handle heavy fabrics like your jacket. I'm not sure what machine you have but if it does have a setting for button holes then you are good to go to start practicing if you have the manual or can look up a video I'm sure there are plenty out there. And for the buttons try to use a smaller needle and force it through with pliers or some way like that (thats all I can think of at the moment) but also double your thread (fold the thread in half and stick the folded part of the thread through the eye of the needle). That way the stitching will be stronger and it will literally be four times faster.
@GearedTowardGear7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the awesome tips! My machine does do button holes but only a small size, thats a great thing to keep in mind!

Yo Avery, my aunt gave me these insane ralph suede cargos from the 90s most likely. They're a size 36 though and I'm like a 30 haha. I noticed you had a similar issue with your 36s. Do you think there's any chance I could have them brought in?
@GearedTowardGear7 жыл бұрын
Jack Merz I think it depends on how much excess fabric is at the backseam for a seamstress to work with. I bet someone could professionally bring them in 2 inches and then you belt it the rest. But it may look a lil scrunched! Still totally worth trying, that's an awesome find! If they do look a like wrapped up check out the latest Martine Rose show for some inspiration on how to work with it.

Thank you g. I'll @ you if I end up doing it.
