@DataBroth3 жыл бұрын
haha pretty much
@borrasca4 жыл бұрын
Amazing tutorial, having those text boxes stay there during the whole segment makes it very easy to browse through the video When you PM/FM with a keytracked lfo, I recommend setting the modulation to bipolar, so that the modulation isnt just happening from the center up (and getting clipped at the top) That chorus trick is interesting, i never used the freeze mode there before. You used 3 random modulators but all with identical settings, to get different modulations on all the destinations I assume; wouldn’t just using 1 random modulator still produce unique modulations on all the destinations? Or would they be identical in that case? I’m genuinely unsure of this
@DataBroth4 жыл бұрын
Funny enough I used to set the PM to bipolar, a few of us testing Vital had a long discussion about this, after doing some side by side comparison it turns out there is no significant difference between uni/bipolar modulation on the osc phase in Vital. And as far as it getting clipped, this actually relates to a tip from the next video ;) Yes you could use the same random mod for all 3 chorus controls, and in most presets this would probably be a better idea to free up more modulation, but you also get the exact same random motion being sent to all 3 controls, by using 3 different sources you get different motion from each random mod, at .001 seconds it likely makes no difference, but it prevents all 3 controls from staying at one value together
@borrasca4 жыл бұрын
@@DataBroth I guess uni vs bipolar makes more difference when modulating osc transpose then. That’s what I was wondering about the random mod; if routing one random modulator to multiple different parameters means that all those parameters are getting the exact same random motion, or if each of them still get unique motions from eachother even though theyre coming from the same modulator. I think I asked matt about it a long time ago but don’t remember the answer lol. I guess it’s easy enough to get a definitive answer though by just trying
@DataBroth4 жыл бұрын
@@borrasca yes, on transpose it will make a huge difference, on phase it just matters which direction you are traveling and at what rate, but the "distance" traveled doesn't affect it as it is a rotational control and yes the random mods output the same random value to each control, would be cool to have a button for unique outputs

Excellent tutorial. TIP: a human voice is always better than texts. That's because we are projected to deal with others by talking and listening, not by reading. The writing came way after with the main goal to maintain and pass the knowledge from elders (older ones)... But I must say that this is one of the best Vital tutorials ever. Thanx a lot, "Data Broth".

also I prefer text to human voice, so you're wrong, it's just an opinion though, not a matter of fact. you like voice better, there's a thousand youtubers doing voiceover stuff. I like non voice, which is why I don't speak in my content

@@DataBroth Man,, sorry to say that but, it seems you got a huge ego issue. Did you read all my first message? Please, re-read it. Maybe if you do that, you'll see anything that may not "sound" so agressive inside of your heart. I don't care if you like it. But I do care if you feel offended. Sorry. That was never my inttention. That's why it was a "tip". Not a critic nor a command and so on... But it seems that you're "not able" to have a friend (I know you don't consider me one) because a real friend says what he thinks and, otherwise, is never took like someone trying to offend nor be disrespecful... Keep working like you preffer, I am not trying to change your kingdom nor stand in your way, majesty. :-))) Now I have to review your vídeo when I left my job and have time for that. Is one of the best in method of teatching. Really. "Now each modulation slot can have its own pattern." It's is the contraction of "it is" so should not be used here. The possessive pronoun "its" is required since the pattern belongs to (or is possessed by) the modulation slot. A very common mistake. The trick when you think of using it's is to replace it with "it is" in the sentence to see if it makes sense. Here is an example of both in a sentence: It's (it is) fun to watch a little puppy dog chasing its tail. (The tail is possessed by the puppy.) A nice collection of presets. Vital is an amazing synth for the money. Hopefully most people will buy the paid version and support Matt in his development.
