I’m OVERRRR my natural hair! Plus I’ve always wanted locs.. I know it’ll help my hair grow and hopefully give me more ammunition to eat better and drink more water (and some time away from always doing my hair in the am). I’m getting them by Monday and I’m sooo excited!!!

I know.. I love my natural hair but I’m tired of detangling my hair and don’t always have the money for protective styles back to back( which I love)... but I’m tired of detangling, stretching my hair to do it then it shrinks up, 2 hrs to twist my hair at night ( cuz it’s thick) and I don’t do blow outs because I’m scared of compromising my curl pattern. I’m really considering it

I started my locs three days ago and I'm doing the two strand twists method. I did this for me! Only cause the curly hair and fro just wasn't working for me anymore although I have soft 3c type texture. I just gotten tired of the detangling, wash n go's, and shedding 🙄. I wanted something different and have been talking about getting dreads for a while. I want the medium size locs.

Thanks so much for this video... I haven't considered locks until today... literally hours ago. You are one of the few that didn't seem condescending, told me good info straightforward, and best of all told me to research myself! I'm still not sure if I will lock my hair but I am very inspired by so many people doing it, loving it. One thing I wonder s how can a black person look BAD in locks? If they're healthy I think it just suits all of us like an afro or twist. Maybe it's no someone's style but I think showing of natural texture is always beautiful.

I've shaved my hair about 5-6 times since i was 18 trying to master my natural hair it is thick like a carpet, hard to manage and i got frustrated 5-6 times and permed it only to regret it 2 days later. Truth is I really love my natural hair. I've wanted to do this for so long and since im on a journey to find myself right, i've been what everyone thought i should be and what i thought everyone wanted me to be. After self imploding im putting the pieces of myself back together and now I figure why not a fix my hair in a way that feels natural. I think it would be like putting your own skin on after you've worn someone elses for so long. Like home. Idk.

Hey Angel! I love your videos thanks for all the info and tips, I'm thinking about locing my hair. I've been natural going on 4 years and I'm kinda in the stage where I'm lost and over trying to do stuff to my hair. I just want a low maintenance hair style that I can juggle with school and work, and love and just leave my hair alone so it can grow and be healthy. That's why I'm considering locing, I know it's still work but I believe I can handle it. Plus I love the semi freeform locs, so I think it'll fit. Any advice??
@NaturalNirvana8 жыл бұрын
Hi Nariah! Thank you so much! I can completely understand! I recently uploaded a video titled "5 Signs That You Aren't Ready For Locs." I would encourage you to watch that and really see if locs is something you want to commit to. It sounds like you pretty much know that it's something you want to do:) Do some research, and gain as much knowledge before starting them if it's something you would like to. You definitely have to have patience along the way, and be open to your hair taking whatever form it pleases because each set of locs is unique and differs from the next persons:) I hope I was helpful:) Rooting for you girlie! Do whatever will fit you best:)

@Natural Nirvana, hello beautiful queen. i was wanting your opinion....Im starting off my dreadlock journey.My hair type is a 4a or 4b.I have been growing my hair for 3 months or so.I started with 360 waves.stopped brushing and combing for the entire time.I was washing conditioning hydrating my hair daily if not every other day.this past Friday I decided to try to get my hair to begin to "bud".Im going to go the Freedom Lock/Free form route.I really want to commit to the Organic Free Form locks. Enough digression tho...I put tree oil, coconut oil, and vitamin E in my hair friday night and slept with a shower cap on my head.all saturday I wore nothing on my head.Saturday night I rinsed my hair with acv/baking soda/lemon and water.let air dry then slept with satin bonnet on head.Yesterday didint wear anything on my head.@ night i sprayed with a little sea salt and water.let soak in hair for 20 minutes.I then put a panty hose on my head . I rinsed the salt out with lemon juice .I then let that soak for 5 minutes and rinsed with hot water.Towel dried afterward.then let hair air dry.before bed put on my satin bonnet.I work at a Iron foundry that used the no bake method,so sand is every where.I wore a satin head stocking on my head at work all day.When I got home I sprayed my hair with a light coat of my sea salt mixture I made and used previously.let soak 20 minutes.put stocking on hair.rinsed with lemon juice.then clean water.letting air dry.So after that all said Lol, I was wanting your knowledgeable input on what Im doing correct and incorrect?What should I be doing to get my hair to "bud" the natural way? Your time and knowledge and advised is greatly appreciated

Hey lovely, I am so happy for you and that you are ready to start your loc journey. You mentioned you are wanting to freeform. With freeform locs, there is no formula. Just let your hair do it’s thing. Wash it, apply some oil to your scalp if you want, and go about your day. Lol. Keep washing your hair as needed or desired. It sounds like you are actually doing too much to your hair by trying to force it to loc. Be encouraged and know that your hair will loc on its own. Love it, nurture it, and watch it flourish 😊. My friend makes great freeform videos. Check out her channel “Queen Abike.” 😊 I hope this was helpful. Peace and blessings to you!🤗

I'm about to binge watch your videos. I've been on the edge about locs for about a year and a half and finally decided that I want them about 5-7 months ago. I don't think I'll be able to get them any time soon, so I'm doing research during the wait. What basic things would you suggest I look into? I'm already looking into what kind of locs I want, but what else? I don't want to overlook something and end up being misled.
@NaturalNirvana8 жыл бұрын
Hey Donovan! That's great that you are doing research and doing your best to be well informed and educated! I would definitely recommend that you research a quality loctician (see what they do, what products they use, examine their clients hair, etc.). Also research and know what size locs you are aiming for, the parting system that you like best, and the method in which you want to start them:) Blessings on you new journey!
