Hey guys! Thanks so much for watching this video on some simple tips to get started in homeschooling! Here's a recap of the 5 Tips:
1. Be sure to read up on and understand your states requirements for homeschooling.
2. There are so many homeschooling methods to choose from. Choose the method/philosophy that you think will work best in your homeschool and from there start researching what curriculum is offered within the method you choose. {For example: We use the Charlotte Mason Method in our homeschool. Three of many curriculum options for us are Sonlight, Ambleside and Simply Charlotte Mason}
3. DON'T STRESS! Stay relaxed and go with the flow. Yes, structure and schedules are needed, but don't be a stickler!
4. CONNECT! Attend your state homeschool convention/conference, join a co-op, connect with other homeschool famililes on social media!
5. READ-UP on homeschooling and get a good handle on your game plan moving forward. Research, research, research!

🙋🏼‍♀️ Hi, I’m Becca! I’m a homeschooling mom of three boys and love sharing my passion for classic children’s books, homeschooling and the Charlotte Mason method of education. I also love farmhouse home decor so you’ll probably see some videos sprinkled here and there of our home and also a sprinkle of favorite things!

Thanks for encouraging new homeschool families. ❤️📚 Yes, we have researched state requirements and are considering changing our domicile to TX while we full-time RV. Also, I think all the methods can be so overwhelming-at least they have been for us through the 15 years. Lol😳 I love that you reminded us that home ed shouldnt look like school.😉Differences are the beauty of home ed. Love it!

For anyone looking into the Charlotte mason method I recommend Ambleside online because the curriculum is free and most of the books can be found online for free as well. There are some parts of the curriculum that I want to substitute but I’m able to easily do that. For year 1 (first grade) I will only need to buy one book for about $10. Also, I read the Catherine Levinson book you mentioned and it was a great and quick read. I definitely recommend it for anyone getting started.

This is so helpful! I'm starting homeschool this fall and planning to do the CM method. I've got so much stuff from Simply Charlotte Mason in my shopping cart right now and your videos are just confirming that it's exactly what we want to do. Have you ever considered doing a "day in the life" video? Something like that would be SO helpful for a newbie like myself!

Great tips! And man you’re not kidding about the rules varying from state to state! I was shocked by the number of subjects were required to teach in Ohio.

You are just so inspiring! I have enough of a hard time homeschooling my preschoolers. Is there any curriculum that you recommend for them? I just kinda wing it but I would love to be more organized with it.

Kristin's Chaotic Life Aww, Kristen! That means so much to me, thank you! I think winging it with preschoolers is best....keep it fun and simple. Nothing to structured. And LOTS of reading in Momma’s lap!
